  1. just when I started to respect Yost's decision to walk Bonds...... he proves he was full of excrement. If Yost makes up some lame excuse during the post game, I will be very disappointed in him.
  2. I just started to grumble to myself that Yost didn't pinch hit for Obermueller. Then I remembered he can hit a bit... as I was looking up his not-bad hitting stats he get's an RBI. Go Wes Go! Sure like a 3 run lead ALOT more than 2.
  3. I sure, and when he runs outa gas in teh 8th, everyone will call Yost stupid http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. I assume Franklin won't acually be pitching this one....
  5. Well, if the patient offense keeps running the opponents starters to over 100 pitches in the 6th, I think the Brewers CAN be a bit better than last year. I find it very satisfying to watch that pitch count of the opponent's starter go up and up, inning after inning. Saturday's game was a perfect example of that. Getting 3-4 innings against an opponent's bullpen can be a huge help in the quest to score runs.
  6. I think our starters are garbage, and we'll be seeing Kinney, Obermueller and maybe Davis replaced before the end of the year. Like all new Brewer starters, Capuano will be left out there to learn the ropes no matter what (as he should). This year will be more fun than last, since the offense will be a bit better, but the starters are just as bad this year, and the bullpen is worse.
  7. From everything I've read, a typical radar gun is accurate to within 1 MPH. That's not to say it was't calibrated corectly, it might read high, but it would be CONSISTANTLY high. If a radar gun was typically off by 5%-10%, they would be almost useless for many applications. A radar gun that was off 10% could show a Sheets fastball at 83, or a Quevado fastball at 101 http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. I wonder if Yost will wait until every starting pitcher this year falls apart before pulling them. Obermeller is an odd guy. He has alot of movement on his pitches, but doesn't have much control at all. Rarely did it seem like Bennet got the ball where he wanted it. Still, it was working well enough until the 6th.
  9. Nice to see Overbay with a timely double Helm's approach at the plate is just aweful. He'll just swing at whatever, and hope he makes contact.
  10. So it's better to have the same pitcher-catcher combo, unless it's not working, then it's not. I'm convinced. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. Bennett will always start for Obermueller. What I hate is Yost's excuse for not changing pitching/catching duos. He thinks it's better for a pitcher to have the same guy catch him no matter what. Whether you agree or not with that logic, atleast it's not completely unreasonable. When perez was having a hot start and Osik was embarrassing himself, Yost used basically used the above as an excus not to mess with the playing time. Of course when Osik lost one of the pitchers he was catching for (Rusch), Yost simply gave Osik one of Perez's pitchers. Yost must simply think a catcher should only play 60% of the time, at most. Afterall, don't people understand how IMPORTANT a backup catcher is! Don't they understand that without the backup catcher a team could NEVER have made their only world series appearance!! The backup catcher is KEY!!!!
  12. It's nice having everyone else do the legwork, and we get the spoils! I'll be keeping a keen eye on Indy this year. Sure would be nice for them to make a nice run this year.
  13. With a win today, the Brewers will win the series and carry a winning record to their home opener. It seems to have been a long time since they've done that http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif It will be interesting to see how Capuano handles his first major league start with the Brewers. I am optimistic.
  14. adrian definetely gets a mulligan. Kinney didn't look pretty, but he got the job done. Hall at #2, and bennett starts? Good Yost stuff....
  15. Soooooo, um, will the game be on MLB total ticket or not? No because it's Wed? MLB total ticket sucks if you are just looking for a particular team. I just went to the mlb.com forum for the Cardinals. Plenty of "LaRussa is a jag" talk there http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. I really wanted to savor the 2-0 start, so i went over to the Cardinal's message board. Ahhh, that felt good. Hopefully Kinney throw a complete game shutout so Clancy has to move on.
  17. What about the ball that hit Pod's glove, when he attempted an over the shoulder catch. Again, not an easy play, but one probably 90% of CFs make. Pods can certainly get to balls in teh gaps that some CFs wouldn't, but he doesn't look very good going back on the ball sometimes. BTW, am I being unfair or does Greive look REALLY slow?
  18. I swear if Yost says "golden glove" and "Helms" in the same sentence again..... And what does it take to commit an error in the majors... apparently it's NOt when teh ball bounces off the inside of your glove.... 2-0 BABY! It would be nice to exact revenge from last year and sweep the Cards. One last thing, does Bill Schroeder lick ALL catchers, or just Mike Matheny?
  19. I find it very impressive that there is this much interest in the Brewers before the season has even started.
  20. Heh, fair enough. I didn't realize they would accept articles from people "outside the loop." I know the daily brew was written pretty often, but that isn't on the top of the page. The main article seemed to be updated maybe once a week during the season. If my recollection truely is that inaccurate, I appolgize. It's not like I started this thread to to be overly critical. I like brewerfan.net! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. If I were to criticize brewerfan.net for anything, it would be for lack of updates to the homepage stories. Despite having a former Milwaukee brewer being voted into the hall of fame, the same prospect list story sits atop. I realize it's the off-season, but the same thing happens during the season. While anyone involved with this site knows it's always active, one would never guess that by looking at the front page. Keep up the good work!
  22. See, the $30 mil payroll estimate was WITH the money square makes in his store. Now that square is fighting them, it may drop to around $25 mil.
  23. Always seemed odd that the same article is always there to greet you..... Would be nice to see a huge "Sexson Traded" headline....
  24. Seems like it's been a LONG time since Nelson has justified his position as an elite prospect....
