  1. I wonder if they would consider piggy-backing Parra and Carlos for 3-4 innings each for a month or so. Parra as we know has been solid lately and Carlos has been pretty darn good out of the pen if he only has to see hitters once or twice.
  2. Jay Mohr was great yesterday. You guys obviously don't understand him. He was hilarious. He's not trying to be a serious sports radio host, he was just out there to piss as many people as possible off in a 3 hour span. I thought it was great.
  3. Why bring Escobar up a year early so he can be below average in the majors when you have a more then capable short stop already under contract? DON'T RUSH PROSPECTS. It doesn't do anything but hurt them in the end. Escobar has time, the Brewers have time, it makes no sense to me barring a JJ Hardy trade.
  4. Depends on your definition of MLB ready. Could he come up and play an adequate short stop and hit .250, yeah probably. But honesty I think a full season in AA this year, a full season in AAA next season wouldn't hurt him especially since we have JJ under contract for 2 more seasons. In my opinion it's a no brainer that you do not extend JJ Hardy and just let Escobar transition into that position in the next 2 seasons.
  5. Hate to burst everyones bubble but according to MILB.com, LaPorta is taller then Gamel. LaPorta is listed at 6'2 and Gamel at 6'. The same stats are listed on the Stars website.
  6. I'm in favor of trading Prince in the off season but the centerpiece coming to Milwaukee MUST be a major league ready pitcher with a pretty high celling that can help us win next season. My proposal is to the Yankee's. I would Trade Prince, Gillespie, and Cain for Ian Kennedy or Phil Hughes and David Robertson. Robertson is a 23 year old reliever who had a 1.39 era in 51 innings in AA and AAA this season and has recently been called up to the majors. He has struck out 74 and walked 22. I don't think I need to tell you about Kennedy and Hughes. Our rotation next season will be Gallardo, Kennedy/Hughes, Parra, Suppan, and Villanueva/Bush/McClung. LaPorta moves in at first base where Prince was at the start of 2009.
  7. I'm going to keep rooting against the Cubs for now. When it's August 15th, and we're still down 5 games, then I'll change my opinion. But up until that point I don't feel the need to throw in the towel and play for second place. For heavens sake, we haven't even played the Cubs at home yet and we're waving the white flag at the division 4.5 games out. Also where do you draw the line on who to cheer against? I mean you say Cards, Marlins, Braves, and Mets. But the Dodgers and Pirates are only a game back of the Braves and Mets. And the Astros are only a half game back of that. So now we're supposed to root for the cubs against the Cards, Marlins, Braves, Mets, Dodgers, and Pirates? It's not going to happen...yet. Not until its necessary.
  8. No, then they would call it the second half of 2007 and first half of 2008 All Star game. That makes about as much sense as saying Volquez's minor league stats should be considered when checking his numbers for the All Star Game. endaround wrote: It depends if you think the All Star game should be the "Game for players who had 1/2 of a good season" or if you weigh in past performance. Why would you weigh in past performance for this seasons All Star Game? It should go to people who deserve it THIS season because the ASG is THIS season.
  9. Who cares if their careers "spin into the depths of despicability?" Player A has better stats then Player B. Player A should start the All Star game regardless of service time. And Volquez is heads and shoulders above everone else. He has a .80 better era then the second best era, the most K's in the league, and the second most wins.
  10. "Absolute ignorant stance" probably isn't a phrase that lends itself to civil debate. Disagreement is fine, calling someone ignorant is not. I'm not saying he's ignorant in general, just on this statement that he's making that Volquez shouldn't start because he's a rookie. I apologize if this classifies as name calling, I didn't mean it like that, I just severely disagree with the reasoning behind his argument. So John Briggs...I apologize, but can you tell me what being a rookie has to do with deserving to start the game because you have had the best first half?
  11. John Briggs, Saying that Volquez shouldn't start because he's a rookie is just an absolute ignorant stance. I don't care if a guys is a 50 year veteran or a rookie he deserves to start. He has an absolutely sick era that is like .80 runs better then any other pitcher in the ENTIRE league, along with 10 wins and is leading the league in K's. Quit being a homer this should go to Volquez hands down.
  12. The right choice is Edinson Volquez. Sheets is right there and Lincecum third. I like what Webb has done but Haren has a better era and K/BB ratio.
  13. Fielder for Sabathia makes absolutely no sense. Trading for Sabathia means that the Brewers are going for a championship this season. If your going for a championship this season, you don't trade away your only left handed bat and one of the best sluggers in the league. Who is going to play first base? Brad Nelson? LaPorta and Gamel aren't ready to make that big of an impact this season. Now If you want to trade Fielder in the off season I have no problems with that. This deal just makes no sense to me.
  14. I don't always agree with you but I do with this post 100%. IMO it's the right thing to do to trade prince in the off season. Especially if we can't sign sheets the imagine the pitching return we could get for Prince. We might need it and with LaPorta in the wings its an easy decision to me.
  15. We are now 16-6 since his return to Milwaukee. Coincidence, I think not.
  16. You guys keep telling yourselves that Ryan Braun shouldn't start in this all star game. Keep telling yourself that.
  17. Pedro you are the man.
  18. We only have the DH for 3 games. Prince doesn't need a rest.
  19. I got the line straight from milb.com which would seem to be a pretty good source. But I agree that Nelson is having a hell of a season so far. I just am not quite sure where he would play at all. (pared back nested quote --1992)
  20. I don't see anyone on the AAA roster with that line actually. I thought you were talking about Brad Nelson but he's .313/.424/.518
