Calling Hurricanes first major league HR right now Edit: yeah i was wrong of course

Right in the man jewels.

Not sure how LaPorta isn't dominating offensively. Leads the league in home runs. (By 4!) Second in the league in RBI's. (Only behind Gamel) Second in total bases. (Only behind Gamel) Second in slugging. (Only to Gamel) 4th in OPS. (Should move up to third, possibly second after tonights performance) Oh yeah, and that batting average that we are questioning...is .298, not exactly Mendoza. I guess I just don't see how that isn't domination. Just because Gamel is having one of the best minor league seasons I personally have ever followed, doesn't mean LaPorta isn't dominating.

I'm pretty sure when watching those FSN Str8 up things a few years ago they were in a meeting and talking about a member of the staff that was checking message boards and blogs for trade rumors etc. If I remember correctly it was Melvin's son who was in charge of it.

LSU game was really fun to watch today. Some spectacular outfield defense by LSU.

There are still a host of Brewer draft picks playing in the NCAA D-1 Super Regionals. 6th round pick, Texas A&M SS Jose Duran lost today to Rice 9-7. They will be playing tomorrow (Sunday) at 6:00 Central time on ESPN2. 8th round pick, Erik Komatsu, LF, Cal State Fullerton lost yesterday to Stanford 4-3. They are playing tonight (Saturday) at 6:30 Central time on ESPN. 13th round pick, Robert Wooten, RHP, North Carolina beat Costal Carolina 9-4 today and they will play tomorrow at 12:00 pm (Sunday) Central time on ESPN. 21st round pick, Lucas Luetge, LHP, Rice Univ. beat Texas A&M today 9-7. They will be playing tomorrow (Sunday) at 6:00 Central time on ESPN2. 41st round pick, Joseph Scott, SS, Cal State Fullerton lost yesterday to Stanford 4-3. They are playing tonight (Saturday) at 6:30 Central time on ESPN.

It's June, stats or no stats, all I care about is if the Brewers win every day. Not paying attention to the rest of the league until at least august 1.

Sorry I missed my pick guys I lost internet connection for a day there. My bad but you made the correct pick for me any ways.

I don't care what team you play for. You can expect to be boo'd if you request a trade. And it's well deserved.

I'm getting a "no box score" from West Virginia. I got the same think in yesterday's link report.

I'll take Toronto.

I've seen greater tragedies in the world, but I would assume they are both in. Braun leads all outfielders in HR and RBI's last time I checked.

If they are both in Milwaukee next season, where is Bill Hall going?

This is so freaking cool. I love it. Even though I didn't end up getting audio to follow it like I did last year with Parra, it's still awesome. Congratulations David.

Box score hasn't updated since the 6th and I cant get audio, can someone tell me where we are at with Welch?

Escobar is absolutely sick right now. 34 for 68 just isn't fair.

Nice to see Gamel keep the on base streak tonight.

If Rickie is out for an extended period of time, who do you see stepping in? I don't want Craig Counsell playing every day. I could see a Dillion Counsell platoon but even that doesnt do much for me. Does anyone thing that the Hurricane could get a shot at playing every day at 2B?

Nate, Zimmerman over David Wright? You already have Rauch on the team to fulfil your Nationals quota. Wright leads Zimmerman in every statistical category, and is blowing him out in most. The more and more I look at third base stats the more and more I feel Aramis Ramirez should be on the team. Any closer over Billy Wagner? He has a .39 ERA this season and a 28k to 4bb ratio while only giving up 14 hits. His .78 whip is the best out of any closer in the league.

Should have been more clear. Who it SHOULD be, not who you think it will be.

Thought this might a fun little thing to do. Put together your 2008 NL All Star team through games played as of June 1. Remember the game is at Yankee Stadium so there will be a DH. Also make sure every team is represented in the All star game. Last season the team had 12 pitchers and 20 position players. Starters: C: Brian McCann-Atlanta Braves 1B: Lance Berkman-Houston Astros 2B: Chase Utley-Philadelphia Phillies 3B: Chipper Jones-Atlanta Braves SS: Hanley Ramirez-Florida Marlins (Furcal-L.A. Dodgers was selected but un-able to play due to injury) OF: Nate McClouth-Pittsburgh Pirates OF: Matt Holiday-Colorado Rockies OF: Pat Burrell-Philadelphia Phillies DH: Albert Pujols-St. Louis Cardinals SP: Edinson Volquez-Cincinnati Reds Reserves: C: Russell Martin-L.A. Dodgers 1B: Adrian Gonzalez-San Diego Padres SS: Jose Reyes-N.Y. Mets SS: Miguel Tejada-Houston Astros 2B: Orlando Hudson-Arizona Diamondbacks 2B: Dan Uggla-Florida Marlins 3B: David Wright-N.Y. Mets OF: Ryan Braun-Milwaukee Brewers OF: Adam Dunn-Cincinnati Reds OF: Aaron Rowand-San Franciso Giants SP: Brandon Webb-Arizona Diamondbacks SP: Tim Lincecum-San Francisco Giants SP: Johan Santana-N.Y. Mets SP: Ben Sheets-Milwaukee Brewers SP: Carlos Zambrano-Chicago Cubs SP: Tim Hudson-Atlanta Braves SP: Ryan Dempster-Chicago Cubs RP: Billy Wagner-N.Y. Mets RP: Brad Lidge-Philadelphia Phillies RP: Jon Rauch-Washington Nationals RP: Brandon Lyon-Arizona Diamondbacks Last 3 Out: SP: Adam Wainwright-St. Louis Cardinals 3B: Aramis Ramirez-Chicago Cubs OF: Alfonso Soriano-Chicago Cubs Last 3 In: SP: Ryan Dempster-Chicago Cubs OF: Aaron Rowand-San Francisco Giants OF: Ryan Bruan-Milwaukee Brewers

Davis should be given a standing ovation. Will it happen? No, but he deserves it. Nothing but class when he was a Brewer, it wasn't his choice to leave.

07, maybe I should rephrase. I shouldn't have said every day. I meant that he needs to be the primary catcher on whatever team he's on. He doesn't need to be bumped up to see only 1/3 of the starts. He needs to be the one getting the primary action. No catcher should be playing every day. Including Jason Kendall.

I agree with you for the most part, but I think the most important thing is to make sure that Sheets is going every 5th day no matter what.

Great to hear that this was a worthwhile event. While my location, (Eau Claire) and income, (college student) prevent me from going to such events, its fun to hear about what our guys are doing for the community non the less. For all the bashing our players get for on the field actions (at times), they don't get the reciprocity for the stuff they do for the community and I'm as guilty as the next guy. Good job Rickie and all the other players who showed up.
