  1. I guess I just see Hall, Hart, Hardy and Cam as six in one and and a half dozen the other right given the fact none of them can hit right now. Also Cook is a tough pitcher and I'd rather have my "better" bats saved for at bats versus tired pitcher/bullpen arms. Sigh... typing that sounded way to Yostian.
  2. At the risk of being ridiculed I don't understand why batting Hall was such a bad decision. Sure Hall is fighting it right now but it is only the fifth and its not like Hart, Hardy or Cameron are sure things right now
  3. I thought the UP was given to Michigan as a consolation for conceding Toledo to Ohio during the Michigan-Ohio war. Thus making Wisconsin the only loser of the Michigan-Ohio war. Edit: Wikipedia link
  4. Stars tie the game in the bottom of the ninth and have the based loaded with nobody out... could it be four straight come from behind walk off wins
  5. Listening in to the Stars this morning and they said that Mike McClendon was removed from the Huntsville game due to injury
  6. I love fall but was born in January. However I was born in California where there are no seasons so my frame of reference is likely all screwed up.
  7. I always confused Kapler and Nixon when they were with Boston. A Red Sox buddy of mine could never determine whether Kapler was a righthanded Nixon or if Nixon a left handed Kapler. This signing doesn't help my confusion.
  8. Palmisano to the Orioles Eddie Morlan to the Brewers (from Durham)
  9. I think the disconnect between having good defensemen but an average defensive team comes down to the forwards as well. When UW has been good under Eaves they have had a great forecheck to suffocate the puck before it even reached the defensive end. This made it easier for the defensemen to clean up the trash. Last year I thought their transition defense and forecheck was weak. However I have yet to see them this year so maybe they've improved
  10. I think maybe he meant consecutive games as opposed to consecutive starts.
  11. First of all feel free to move this. Anyway the day after the Nieves no-hitter there was a photo in either the Milwaukee Journal or Sentinal of Robin Yount laying out for the final out. My dad has an antiquated copy that he cut out of the paper. I'm looking to replace it for his birthday does anyone have a copy? Thanks in advance.
  12. I'm assuming the trade for Sal Fasano includes his mustahce. In which case how can this be a minor move. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?playerId=3392
  13. 8 homers in seven days... single handedly keeping me interested right now
  14. Mark Difelice's contract just got purchased to complete the roster move
  15. I've read the article and saw the segment, where does it say that USC did anything wrong here. It seems that the sports agent was paying all the money to Mayo in High school and also while he was at USC so that Mayo would use their agency. Mayo went to USC in order to raise his profile for the pros not because he was paid. What did USC do wrong except for take a player on the dole from someone else? Not saying USC is clean (they obviously aren't) but I don't think this story can be used as evidence to prove cheating, at most lack of instituional control, hardly a library throwing worthy offense.
  16. Ankiel's splits say he hits better versus lefties than righties
  17. Running ourselves out of innings with the bases loaded and one out in a tie game? Really, Ned really?
  18. I don't think it's about changing your stance or grip, but if they're pitching on the outside corner going the other way, if they're throwing first pitch strikes be aggressive, if you're behind shorten up. These are the type of adjustments I think they could make.
  19. Wait the Brewers are allowed to touch home plate? where have i been?
  20. This statement seems to sum up most of my feelings regarding Yost. It's more than just the "by the book " managing but the unequivocal way in which he chooses to express himself. When challenged he makes it seem like the way he decided is the only option and any challenge to that is insulting and ridiculous. As opposed to justifying his position he feels there is no need because he's the manager. Baseball is a sport with shades of grey where managers have a plethora of options and accepting this is important part of being a manager (and a fan). It's not about making the right decisions all the time it's about recognizing that there are other options and being open to them in the future. I'd rather Yost didn't foreclose the option of changing Ganges role in the future as an example.
  21. I think you could go through the roster of every team and do this, I don't find it particularly depressing because of the cherry picking nature. Some of those teams in the 80's were pretty good just never won the division (not because of any incompetance just becasue of not being as good as other teams). The depressing part is the crash and burn that happened in the mid 90's.
  22. Can't see the game, Why are we using so many pitchers?
