I am glad they're keeping Stan Kyles and I hope he gets a big league shot soon. I guess I disagree with that. I'd much rather see Kyles leave. He never makes the walk to the bullpen while pitchers are warming up. The minors don't have the benefit of having a bullpen coach and I think Kyles should be monitoring his bullpen. He may be a good non-game coach, but everything I've seen from him during the game tells me I would want no business with him on a MLB team. The pitchers in Nashville essentially have full control over warming up and when they're 'ready'. It's not monitored at all and to me that's a bit scary.

Why are we cmparing Green to a buch of guys who won't play in the majors? The analysis is a good idea, but it should focus on actual prospects. I think at that low of a level it's hard to pick 'prospects'. I hope Green stays with the Brewers and goes to All-Star games and such, but at this point and time we really don't know how he'll develop or anyone else at that level. There are more prospects that don't pan out than do. I think your point that Green's defense is awful might not be reality.

Options do matter, as a player without options cannot be sent to the minors, even back when they were playing. Seth would never have cleared waivers, he'd move right into 15-20 rotations, as he's cheap and has a 4.50 ERA. I don't disagree with your point. My point is that any chance to stretch him out in a minor league game is gone. If this was a month ago, there'd be more debate about this. Remember when most here thought McClung was horrible and now want him starting over Parra? Strange what a little patience does and not just grabbing stats and stating a guy is garbage. Right now it is clear that Villanueva gives us a better chance to win I don't disagree with this either, but you'd have to stretch him out. Maybe some simulated games or something. I do think it's a bit too late to do this though. I wonder what the Brewers think his role will be next year. People keep forgetting that DiFelice is in the pen I wonder what his 'mound days' have been like. I hope the Brewers have kept him in the long relief/spot starter role. He's not a bad option if he's able to handle the work.

I'm a bit shocked this is actually going to happen. Props to those Brewers' employees for pointing this out and I apologize for questioning it. I have a question for those Brewers' employees. Does anyone know if other locations were considered or was Milwaukee the only real choice? This stinks for the Astros and I just wonder if there were other options out there or if Milwaukee was the only real option for some reason or another.

Maybe Braun's more thick-skinned than Hart. Dunno. Yeah, maybe they should "sack up", but simply stating that's the case doesn't make it so. Again, to them, perception is reality. The main point is that there is no good outcome that comes of booing, while we know that there is a negative outcome of booing, apparently... right or wrong. So why do it? It's simply a way for fans to 'voice' their opinion. Why cheer for good plays? Because it's entertainment and if you pay to get in you have a right to cheer, boo, or be mute. I really think if the Brewers made the playoffs every 5 years or so the booing wouldn't be an issue. I know Milwaukee boos former players, but IIRC (I might be way off here) didn't the Milwaukee fans give Jenkins a decent ovation? Again, I might not be accurate on that, but if that's the case I think that defines the typical Brewer fan. Fans want hustle, effort, and feel like the contract a player has is within reason of his performance. It's probably not real fair, but IMO that's how it is. We've been told through the media and sites like this how good the Brewers are and how good the bats are...well they've been struggling at almost the worst time to do so in the season. You'll have fans there who only hear how good the team is and attend 2 or 3 games a year and boo. It's garbage, but for players to bring it up is the problem. Someone posted that maybe Hart didn't go to the media and TH came to him...isn't that the same thing more or less? The booing sucks, but to continue to bring it up shows a lack of mental toughness in my opinion. It's been 26 years since the playoffs. There are plenty of Brewers fans that have never seen this team in the playoffs during their life. Fans are all on the edge and from what it seems some players are too. Let's win some games because chances are this opportunity may not happen again for awhile.

Putting aside for the moment the question of whether or not Kremblas would be good in Milwaukee, clearly the Brewers did not see that happening, and since that's the case, you might as well not keep him in a dead end position there, especially if they do want to move Money up with the kids. Well I guess I look at it more like Kremblas as a coach in Milwaukee and not 'replacing Yost'. I'm upset because IMO he's earned the chance to be a MLB coach. As far as a MLB manager job, I really don't know. He should've been a coach this year and to me that's a crappy move letting him go. Kremblas has seen most of the young guys AND has been the third base coach for years. Seems to me he could've filled a nice role with the Brewers. I'm not saying Kremblas would put the Brewers in the playoffs, but I am saying he did a fine job in Nashville and at least deserved a job in Milwaukee in some role and to be honest he'd be better than some coaches we have. I don't understand letting him go.

I guess I'll say my feelings on this since I've seen quite a few Sounds games and talked to Kremblas many times. I'd like to first say if this is his decision to please ignore the rest of my post. If it's not his decision, I think this decision is horrible. Frank has done what was asked of him year in and year out and pushes his players to perform in the right way. I haven't seen too many managers 'into the game' as much as he is. He was (past tense how sad) the third base coach and if the Sounds were up by 10 or down by 10 he still had the same approach to a certain degree. Get guys on base and try to get them home. Kremblas also helped most players' 'value' by playing them all over the diamond and the outfield. Nashville is far from a baseball city and I wish everyone could see what crappy conditions they play in. For those from the Timber Rattler area that site is years ahead of Nashville. Kremblas dealt with that year in and year out and didn't mention the trailer they have for a 'locker room'. To be honest and less politically correct, I think this is complete garbage if it's the Brewers letting him go. I'm a big minor league guy and between Nashville and Huntsville I go to 30 - 50 games a year. I've thought Frank would be a perfect fit in Milwaukee for quite some time (in some capacity). He's helped coach/develop so many of the current Brewers. If this story holds true (the Brewers let him go), I'm extremely disappointed to be a Brewers fan. I wish Frank the best and I hope another organization (which I'm sure they will) recognize a guy like him. He was the guy who told me Braun would be an above average 3B...if he had enough time to develop (wasn't ready for the bigs defensively) and had an all-star type bat...sounds like someone that knows what they're doing.

By Hart's own admission, they are playing tight at home... It's September, we are in the pennant race, fan's emotions and expectations are going to be through the roof. Part of the reason Hart is going to be a very rich man, is that he will be able to hit MLB pitching with 40,000 people watching and millions watching at home. If the Brewers are tightening up now... just wait until the freakin' Cubs come to town... it's sort of scary. Again, FTJ a great post. This is the major leagues and I don't agree with the booing, but to make excuses for major leaguers losing is not going to sit well with me. Win some games when it counts and this thread would have never started. I hope the Brewers do well and booing before a 'performance' is sad. I just think even mentioning it is quite dumb. What is Hart really going to accomplish? So some Brewers have their feelings hurt by bandwagon fans...so what . What's the big deal? Why is this thread on page 7? If booing is why the Brewers have stunk for a bit, this team does not deserve the right to play in the playoffs. I understand it doesn't help players. Booing isn't going to make Gagne good, but why the hell did they sign him. What happened to Bill Hall? Should we all write letters to the Brewers? I would like to point out again that booing a player isn't saying that guy is garbage. The booing is the past performance. It's not we hate Eric and his family. I've pointed out in this thread that most of the young guys haven't been a team that is booed in the minors so this is new. 26 years is a long time and it's too bad it's been taken out on the team. As far as free agents go, I hope we boo more. This will avoid the Gagne signing. Booing has little to do with the team's performance. It's not right. It is very important to remember it's not personal and at times it's bandwagon fans. Booing is a right no doubt, but booing before a player enters is stupid. Brewers' fans are nervous and from the looks and quotes of it the Brewers' players are equally as nervous. The Brewers will not make the playoffs because they are not mentally strong. I hope I'm wrong, but this team can't flat out deal with this 'pressure', which includes little media coverage. This team flat out does not deserve the playoffs. Houston seems to care and play well when it counts. Imagine that.

I took two days on the way down, but did the drive back in one day. 15 hours, 45 minutes. Not the worst day in my life, but hours 9-11 were brutal. Well I hope you had somewhere nice to stay on your way down. Anyone chewing with their mouth open gets my goat. I don't need to hear you eat, thanks. 100% agreed. It is disgusting and loud. I believe those from England do that a bit much, but that might be my experience. There simply is no need to chomp up and down during a nice dinner and on top of that trying to talk and chew. Annoying.. .

Maybe next time you have inside information you might want to reveal how you got it? You posted something with no reference at all. As has been noted it was published earlier in the day that MP was not an option. I tend to agree with this post. Usually a bf.net a source or link is needed or it's locked or moved to rumors. I understand there are those that have 'inside' information, but posting it and saying you thought it was at other places already is bad due diligence and then attacking posters questioning you is also somewhat strange. It's not about integrity it's about posting the 'facts' from an inside source. Maybe they play there, maybe they don't, but I still don't understand how I'm to believe this. There is a major issue going on in Texas and making the players fly up to Wisconsin would be a joke IMO. Our source though has said the deal is done so with this horrible storm and power outages I'm sure the first thing the Astros are thinking about is -- let's fly to Milwaukee! If it does happen, it's a horrible idea. There are other ballparks that don't have baseball games being played and if it is Milwaukee I'm almost positive it's because of money. The Astros would be getting screwed and some comments here that it's not a big deal are strange. If the Brewers went from a home game to playing in pro-opponent park people would be up in arms and banned from the site for their comments.

EDIT: Just wanted to say that I agree with Albert Haynseworth's (NFL dude) comments on mental toughness. That doesn't mean, however, that I don't think that at this point in the season, Corey Hart was not 100% justified in speaking his piece. I don't know if he was justified or not. I don't like the booing, but I think more at the heart of this might be this is the first/second time a lot of these young guys are in this situation and they've never been booed before. Trust me, nobody cares enough about the teams in Huntsville or Nashville to come anywhere close to booing the team. Most are there for entertainment and if a home run is hit the place goes 'nuts', but besides that it's a pretty laidback fan base. Booing a home player is not good. I think you have fans who have waited 26 years vs. some guys who have never been booed or on a team that was booed before in their life. I think the booing is a moot point. I don't think it's causing the team to lose, but it's not helping them win. The Brewers can stop the booing by winning and hopefully there won't be threads like this the rest of the season. Let's not forget also that the Brewers are 'all in' and I think some fans fear they won't see this team in this position for awhile. Let's hope they play good baseball so the bandwagon fans don't boo. I do think some of Hart's comments were out of frustration from losing so if they win that frustration will be gone.
-
I think it is a fan's right to boo, but I'm not for booing the home team. Interesting to see the views on booing. Down here in TN the big talk is about Vince and Pro Bowl DT Albert Haynesworth was asked on a radio show what he thought of booing. His initial thoughts were that if you can't handle being booed you shouldn't be playing the sport. He said he's been booed many times and fans aren't booing the person they're booing the performance. He also said that when he/the team gets booed a player's thought should be that they're not doing their job and they need to step up and play better. I'm with Hayneworth on this one. I don't like the home team booing and I wouldn't boo, but if it happens and a player can't handle it maybe they should have a different profession. The Brewers are just afraid they could choke away another golden opportunity to miss the playoffs -- don't blame it on the fans blame it on your performance. Not bad guys by any means just some bad performances as of late.

Your initial thoughts on the call ups?
JJHardy7 replied to Hate those Rodents's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
1) Are you impressed with Nelson enough to give him a spot even if Fielder is on the team next year? Are you willing to give him a shot at 1B for a year if Fielder were dealt? I've seen Nelson quite a bit so I think he should be considered for a spot. The thing about him is he has experience playing OF and 3B. I'm not saying he should or ever will start there, but he's a little bit of an insurance policy during a game if a player gets hurt. 2) Has Gwynn showed you enough to want him on next year's team as a backup? Does he offer us enough to want him a part of our 25 man roster? I would trade him. I don't see him as anything more than a 5th OF and if a team thinks he's a starter we might be able to get something for him. 3) What do you think of the very limited you've seen of Escobar? I've seen him a few times too, but with the Brewers it's hard to get a feeling on him. He's looked fast, but he does look a little raw IMO and that's not a surprise. I think it's a bit unrealistic to expect him to be with Milwaukee in one form or another on opening day. I can see him in Milwaukee next year if there's an injury or a September call-up. I think he starts 2010 on the opening day roster. 4) Is the lack of anything decent at 3B making you more willing to give Gamel a fair shot at winning the 3B job in spring training? If he's the best, sure. I would prefer to give him more time at 3B in the minors. I do have a feeling Mat will be busting his tail this off-season and I think there will be posts around here in March wondering if his great bat and improve defense should make him the opening day starter. I would prefer to let him stick at 3B in the minors. 5) How do you feel on Mitch Stetter? Are you any less confident in him than most of our other relievers? I like Mitch a lot. I think it will be Mitch and Dillard's spots to lose in spring training in regards to a bullpen spot. -
Why so many September callups?
JJHardy7 replied to Fear The Chorizo's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Is there any worries about the level these guys can contribute since most of them have been idle for awhile? I mean in terms of starting position players or using some of the arms in key non-extra innings games. -
Have you ever read any of my posts? I've made it very clear that I don't believe in the Brewers ability to develop players defensively, and I'm on record saying Mat Gamel should be moved to another position so the Brewers can capitolize on his bat now as his defense is nowhere close to being ready. With the prices of todays pitching, I think the Oakland A's now have it right to put a high value on defense as its the most cost effective way to improve your pitching. I just think your error argument doesn't really care a lot of weight and really isn't valid. I've seen your posts about the Brewers' development issues, but I think bringing up a silly stat like errors when it's not even bad doesn't help your case. If it were true based on your logic with errors, Escobar isn't very good at defense either. EDIT - I also think Al's post brings more logic and less emotion. Al has also seen him play so I respect his reasoning. I think you kind of pointed the finger at 'drama' when in fact you might have been the one causing it.
-
Thanks for the drama. How did agent39 even start any 'drama'? Do you have a different agenda or something? I'm just curious since agent39 seems pretty professional pointing out why he has his opinion and you seem to throw that under a bus. You think 18 errors in 114 games is too many? I think you need to start a 'Mat Gamel sucks at defense thread' based on that logic. I haven't seen Green play at all on defense so I won't comment on that aspect I just would respect agent39's opinion. Obviously agent39 is going to support his clients, but at the same time I haven't heard anything that Green's defense is that awful and for the record players will have errors in the minors -- and he seems to be ahead of where Gamel is if we just use that silly stat.

Why so many September callups?
JJHardy7 replied to Fear The Chorizo's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
The Kruk argument is crap, teams that are hot called up guys too, everyone does it. Is this from your experience in major league locker rooms? I would not call it 'crap'. I know I've spoken with a few guys who say it does change things a bit, but I don't think it means the season's over. I also don't think the Brewers situation is anywhere near what Kruk is talking about. If Gamel/Escobar/Salome were pushing for playing time against veteran players struggling (well Gamel fits that bill) it would upset some veterans and would wreck the clubhouse. The Brewers won't get anywhere near what Kruk is talking about. Yost has made it clear the guys called up will just PH.
