  1. Wolf... even if you're right, you're wrong... just go sit down and get ready to the pitch the next inning... 7IP would be great from you tonight.
  2. If you're going to suggest moving Fielder to get that pitching back I don't understand your point of view as you've basically shot down every Fielder for pitching deal anyone has suggested. Trading Fielder would have to come first regardless, no way am I giving up advanced impact pitching without having options to replace that pitching. Pitchers currently in A+ Wily PeraltaCody ScarpettaMike Fiers Peralta is the only one of those 3 that can reach the mid 90s and he hasn't exactly set the world on fire this season. Fiers is a nice pitchability guy, but he's not top of the rotation material at this time. Scarpetta doesn't throw strikes, he's been so ineffective Fiers almost has 20 more IP on the season already. Where's an internal replacement for the talent we'd have to give up in your pitching scenario?
  3. Well Dykstra was demoted and has come back hitting well, though his defense still leaves much to be desired. Davis should have been in WI all along, hopefully Arnett can pull a "Dykstra" upon his return trip. Yes, I really did just give Dykstra some love... and no I haven't come around on that pick at all.
  4. I've been saying pretty much the exact same thing for years, the names change, but the idea doesn't. My opinions are hardly revisionist in nature, people were telling me how wrong I was then, and now I basically get labeled with the revisionist history card. I don't care if people disagree with me as long as they make an effort to understand what I'm saying, but at least be courteous enough to acknowledge that I've been beating the same drum forever. As far as Derek Holland goes, that was another "for instance", I didn't think he was attainable at this time last year, and still think Texas would be better of with him and Feliz in the rotation. The point was that he's a very similar prospect to our own Amaury Rivas, a young man with plenty of talent, who gets good results, but no one was talking about because he's not a "name" prospect. I'll post about players whom I believe may be attainable in the transaction forum, but lately I've mostly even quit doing that as many people don't care and only want to discuss "proven" MLB talent, which I'm personally not interested in acquiring. I'm very tired of arguing the obvious, I'll do it on occassion, but mostly it's pointless endeavor. Finally, young pitching was much easier to acquire when OBP/SLG was all the rage, but now it appears that pitching is so overvalued that there is opportunity coming back around on the position player side of things. However, I'm not sure Milwaukee would be in a position to exploit the market like TB did in the last draft as we still need pitching first and foremost. Until we develop enough pitching (as I don't think Melvin will trade for it) we're always going to be playing catch up.
  5. You honestly think Lilly is a solid #2?
  6. I don't care about "proven" at all, I want talent.
  7. just flipped back to WI and Mehring is going nuts, the T-Rats have come all the way back to tie it.
  8. Outside of Heckathorn and Rogers it's been a pretty rough stretch for the pitchers.
  9. Bucci hasn't been good, and right when I tuned back in he gave up a 3R HR and was pulled. edit. Chris actually sounds very dejected.
  10. I'm not sure that's good news about Davis, I'm happier with the young pitchers going.
  11. I was just bouncing around and looking at the leaderboards... Haren leads the league in Strike Outs with 97, Lincecum has 96... and the next pitcher... Ricky Romero tied with Wainwright at 91. Romero has been one of the better stories from the last 2 seasons that doesn't get much run.
  12. I don't know what you're complaining about because 39 year old CC is our future! Or should I say 40 year old?
  13. In the corner OF Ange is just a guy, he'll still have a plus arm, but I don't know that he'll have plus anything else. I always saw him topping out around 20 HRs and while that's great for a C, that's not so elite for a RF. I guess he can still hit for plus average where ever he plays, but I find this move very disappointing. This is clearly Clancy's fault, he's been trying to get players to switch positions for years and someone finally listened... boo.
  14. Well Mat if it makes you feel any better I thought it was dumb you were on the MLB bench as well.
  15. Yea well I really hate the "Melvin did everything he could defense" and attributing failure to bad luck instead of poor decision making, apparently even after that long PM you didn't bother to respond to it's still clear you don't get what we're saying. No one has said we needed to sell high on everyone, what people have been saying is we need to sell high on 1 or 2 players along the way for pitching, or we need to actually trade for top of the rotation talent with longevity when opportunities to make trades presented themselves. All the whining about selling high has gotten over the top, let it go. Trading for rentals, signing relievers, and signing aging players hasn't put this team over the top and won't put this time team over the top, it's not bad luck, it's a poor management philosophy. We need to keep building and thinking long term, Billy Beane said it best. At our best we've been just good enough to compete, but not good enough to win anything. The rotation just hasn't stacked up well against the other teams in the postseason, and even after trading for Sabathia it took a 2nd consecutive Mets collapse for this team to get into the post season. I don't think Beane really practices what he preaches though, so it's easier said than done to accomplish this, but Tampa has proven it can be done. I'm not into good enough... maybe you are, I'm not going to tell anyone what they need to believe. However, I've taken it on the chin repeatedly around here challenging Melvin's philosophies over the last 2 years, but I think the results have ultimately backed up my theory that Melvin has quit progressing this team forward since 2006. The team only gotten better because the young players got better, not because Melvin kept working to move the team and organization forward. We needed pitching that we haven't gotten to this point and if we don't get we'll end up right back where we started in 2006. The only reason the 2010 version of the Brewers has played better of late is that injuries and ineffectiveness forced management to use the younger players, and they've been more productive. He's been spending money to just spend money with predictable results.
  16. He nibbled a bit in the first and got into trouble having to come over the plate in obvious situations, the he pitched well till he left that pitch up to Hamilton that got crushed. He did his usual when he starts to get tired but got out of it.
  17. I didn't catch that, thanks for the correction
  18. X... Chris said that was a mistake, left up in the zone over the middle of the plate?
  19. I was just posting the same with links to B-Ref for each player, but I'll just go with Logan's list. Who's your guy Louis? Cain is the only player on that list I'd pay big money to because he'll only be 26 next season, but San Fran would be crazy not to resign him. Every other good pitcher on that list will be over 30 next season, some coming off of injuries like Webb. Who's a clear cut 1/2 outside of Cliff Lee who will be 32? Can we get Lee on a 4 or 5 year deal? Bonderman hasn't come close to fulfilling his potential, Beckett is struggling this season, JDLR is more of a #3, Lily will be 35, Millwood will be 36 and hasn't been dominant since 2005, Vaquez will be 36 and has just been ok this season, Westbrook will be 33 and he's not a top of the rotation guy, and finally Chris Young will be 32 and hasn't pitched since the first week of the season with a shoulder injury.
  20. Damn, I got worried when Prince swung at ball 4, I would have liked to see Braun up, he hit the ball hard all night.
  21. Feliz isn't sharp at all, missing badly or right down the middle.... opportunity is knocking.,
  22. I was checking minor league scores and didn't realize Hoffamn came into the game, probably not then considering it's 1st and 2nd with no out.
  23. I'm actually looking forward to watching Feliz pitch next inning against the crew.
