  1. Hitting the go ahead HR in the bottom of the 8th and finishing the game with Hells Bells might be more exciting that walk-off wins. (Braun against the Cubs)
  2. After 10 years in the minor leagues, can DiFelice really be this good? After watching him carve up the Marlins tonight (10 pitches/9 strikes/2 strikeouts/3 outs) - I am having a hard time containing my excitement. Heading into tonight game he had a 1.15 ERA and a .89 WHIP. (In 34.2 career inning he has a 2.08 ERA - have we reached the point where those numbers are statistically significant?) I am particularly giddy that we have him under our control for the next two years at $400,000. Will he eventually head back to the mean, or is it possible that he is a sub 3.00 ERA pitcher?
  3. I mentioned it after his last start... He has walked 15 batters in his last 7 innings. It is obviously way to early to lose faith - but I, personally, have downgraded his prospect status. I doubt he will ever be a #1 pitcher.
  4. My first reaction was "I wish we had just kept Mike Lamb" Then I saw that he was batting .114 in AAA. Then I decided Catalanotto was worth a shot. Then I decided I really miss Joe Dillon - how was he NOT perfect for this team?
  5. Is Clancy now posting as Patrick425? I expect Cody to make it up to around #25 or so in the next Power 50. I am starting to believe.
  6. It's been a really good year for some of the Brewers' "lesser" pitching prospects. So far, Rogers, Braddock, Jones, Wooten, Cody and Butler have all surpassed my expectations.
  7. I'd kill to have another Counsell off of the bench rather than Duffy, McGahee or Nelson.
  8. If I have that kind of power... Seems like I haven't seen Gamel with a multi-home run game in awhile!
  9. It is only seven innings, but Braddock's return from injury has certainly been encouraging (13K and 2BB) Even when Chris Smith falters, he is really good. (Gives up a HR - but strikes out the side) Seems like I haven't seen an "E" next to Gamel in a long time... Dillard might provide the Brewers with a good & cheap relief option for the next few years. Between him, DeFelice, Villanueva, Stetter & Coffey the Brewers will be able to save a lot of money for position players.
  10. Gathright is pretty worthless. Given the Brewer's bench struggles - I would have liked to get in on the Ryan Freel sweepstakes. He plays 2B, 3B and every outfield position with a career .357 OBP.
  11. Actually, De La Rosa was always one of my favorites - so I have followed his career. But his story was meant to emphasis my point. Pitchers with great "stuff" often make the major leagues before the "control" is ready. That can result in a team like the Brewers losing patience before they finally click with another team. Gallardo always had great control. Parra always had the better stuff. Let's just say I've become wary of pitchers with control problems. (I'm looking at you Frederickson) Note: I am not about to suggest Chris Cody is the Brewers number one pitching prospect.
  12. I think Jeffress' performance thus far deserves a demotion on the "Power 50" I am starting to doubt he will ever be an effective major league pitcher. "Stuff" is great. But without control - "stuff" is just a waste of time. (Just ask Jorge De La Rosa)
  13. I agree with Ennder. Weeks seems to be replacing his OBP with SLG. Weeks' OBP is down almost 40 points from his career high in 2007. Not to mention he is actually on pace for a career high in errors. (And that is assigning an error to Hardy for Weeks' boneheaded behind the back shuffle) The perception of Rickie Weeks has improved more than his productivity.
  14. Wooten is just sick. 18 strikeouts in 11.2 innings. I think he can be bumped up a level at this point. He dominated West Virginia last year and is dominating Brevard County this year.
  15. On September 10th, 2008, CC Sabathia had a heck of a pitching and batting performance. (Box Score) I was at the game, so I remember it well. The Brewers ended up winning 3-2. CC pitched all 9 innings and hit a home run in the 3rd inning. It wasn't as good as Gallardo's game - but it was still great.
  16. I used to buy tickets the day of a game just to see Sheets and CC pitch... Gallardo just entered that classification for me...
  17. Maybe we were just paying our dues with the horrible minor league games yesterday? Great outing for Anundsen. Very good outing for Dillard. Also, I hope Salome is finally breaking free from his early season struggles.
  18. Wow. Four to Six weeks is worlds better than "season ending"... That is hardly enough to stump his development time.
  19. He is already 26 - so he might not be the prospect that Gamel is... But heading into tonight's game Jake Fox for the Cubs had a .494 OBP/.970 SLG/1.464 OPS. And he just hit his 10th HR of the season... Wow. Edit: Jake Fox just hit his 11th HR too...
  20. Haas - you had me all excited. I saw you were the last post in a "Mark Rogers" thread and figured we finally had an answer to his missed start!
  21. I don't think Jorrible Julio or Swindle are going to play major roles in the Brewer pen this year. I would have preferred cutting ties with Julio - because at least Swindle can play the role of a loogy.
  22. It's also quite possible that JJ Hardy comes off of the books in 2010...
  23. Gamel hits another HR. Lawrie hits one too. (Lawrie has 6 stolen bases already) Chris Smith with 3 innings and 4K for Nashville. At this point, I think I would take Smith over Jorrible Julio...
  24. Next year Cameron will be 37. I doubt any 37 year old CF will get a big contract in a down economy. At this point, I think Cameron is resigned to taking a year by year deal. The Brewers have a need. Cameron is familiar with Milwaukee. (He should be as valuable to Milwaukee as any other team) I say he resigns for around $6M
