  1. I watched a guy pee in the Wal-Mart parking lot in West Bend last week. He didn't even have his door open to "shield" his act. He just stood between two cars, whipped it out, and started to pee.
  2. 1. Get rid of comp picks for the top spending teams. (The Yankees should not receive extra picks for losing Type A free agents) 2. Implement a rookie salary scale (for the draft) 3. Allow teams to trade draft choices. Those would be far more effective than a salary cap.
  3. 1. Fielder submits a reasonable arbitration figure. (Still pretty high - but some thought he would shoot for the moon) 2. Fielder decides to show up for the Winter Warm-Up and On Deck 3. Fielder discusses a two-year deal with the Brewers. I don't think anything has changed. I still think Prince plans on leaving when he hits free agency. I just think he finally hired a PR person who told him that Milwaukee was turning against him. I expect a quote from Prince within the week about how much he loves playing in Milwaukee.
  4. I kinda like it. He has a career OBP of .367. He is a great club house guy. And I think the fan's would really love him. That said, it would have to be really cheap. Because, as mentioned, Brad Nelson will be able to post similar numbers.
  5. Blalock was never going to play 3B this year for Texas. He is playing 1B.
  6. That advice is absolutely ridiculous - and I hope it was tongue in cheek. Marry someone who is financially compatible with you. My wife shares my viewpoint on finances and we live accordingly. (She picked out her own wedding ring - $600) We are far from poor, but believe that debt (especially without assets backing it) is foolish. Instead of each paying rent on an apartment - we pay one rent. We car pool places all the time. Instead of going out looking for entertainment, we often stay home and entertain ourselves. Since we are already married, we have no courtship costs. (She hates flowers because they are a "waste of money and die right away") We also have two incomes. Economies of scales = much greater wealth.
  7. Prince attended two years ago and gave away his autograph for free. I am looking at mine right now - not on the sweet spot, however. I don't even want Prince's autograph, I just want to see what kind of shape he is in.
  8. David Bach is fantastic for beginners. (Really simply techniques that would be better than 95% of what people do now) For an advanced read "The Prudent Investor's Guide to Beating Wall Streets at Its Own Game" is also very good. Lastly, I really like the Motley Fools.
  9. When did Capuano "officially" get shelved for the year? Did any of the 2008 projections have him factored in...
  10. Like I said, I knew he was considered a good defender - I was just bothered that he was losing development time as a CF to Darren Ford. BA actually just had Cain listed as the Brewers "Best Defensive Outfielder".
  11. Clancy will always have "Best Control".
  12. Is that a typo? Cain received 16 votes for the 14th best prospect - and still rated out to the 8th best overall? Josh Butler - 5 points overall. Gross for Butler might end up as one of the worst Melvin trades. Glad to see everyone hasn't quite given up on Mark Rogers. Actually, considering that Brewers adding him to the 40 man roster, I think Rogers probably deserved a vote from me as well. (The Brewers must think he has a chance to reclaim his status yet)
  13. We're hearing more and more that a team like the Braves or Rangers could pony up a couple of years on a contract that would land oft-injured righthander Ben Sheets. At this stage of free agency, he seems like big-time quality for a price that has surely come down. "I think as the weeks go on, more and more teams are going to take a good, hard look at him," said a National League manager. "Given his history, he's just not going to get a big deal, and the realization might be sinking in that he and his agents know it." Boston Globe
  14. The Brewers will say Prince Fielder is not available, but could they be overwhelmed with a package of young players? One AL talent evaluator said, "He makes a lot of sense for Boston. They need a big bat in the lineup, it would combat what the Yankees have done with Mark Teixeira. They could go to their Teixeira plan of moving [Kevin] Youkilis to third and trading Mike Lowell. In this type of package, you can start with Clay Buchholz and go from there." Boston Globe Please note: This is not an actual rumor, but an idea tossed out there in the Boston Globe. As I mentioned before, I would trade Hardy & Cameron for Buchholz & Ellsbury. That made me think - does JJ Hardy have more trade value that Prince Fielder?
  15. I freakin' hate the Red Sox! They are signing all of these injured players to one year deals. Because the Rex Sox have so much money, they can easily afford the one year risk. About 1/2 will probably pan out. Then the Red Sox will offer them arbitration and collect the draft picks when all these players leave next season.
  16. I am 100% with you Josh. I've looked at that picture many times and can feel Brett's eyes penetrating my very soul.
  17. Are you implying that he didn't like Milwaukee? Or that he wanted a chance to start somewhere - and wouldn't get that in Milwaukee? I thought he really enjoyed Milwaukee. And Milwaukee certainly enjoyed him. Is he 100% recovered from his injury?
  18. I don't hate the Yankees for paying market (or above market) value for players. I do hate the Red Sox for obtaining players at below market contracts. (They've become the new "it" place to play for players looking for one year deals and a chance at a World Series.)
  19. I am starting to think I might have rated Scarpetta the highest (9th)... I'm really surprised by how many lists he was completely omitted from. I spent a whole five minutes on my rankings. 1. Gamel 2. Escobar 3. Jeffress 4. Cain 5. Lawrie 6. Green 7. Lucroy 8. Salome 9. Scarpetta 10. Braddock 11. Aguilar 12. Gillespie 13. Peralta 14. Odorizzi 15. Brewer 16. Periard 17. Gindl 18. Zarraga 19. Lintz 20. Pena
  20. The story is that we are going to attend his session. I think any team worth a darn should do their due diligence and attend. Not much of a story really.
  21. Are we sure they weren't just the "season favorites"?
  22. The only reports we are getting on Sheets regarding his injury is that it was minor. We have never heard any time line on how long his recovery will be - or for that matter, the full extent of his injury. I mean, at least 20 teams should have inquired about his physical status by this point - right? I do not believe a full recovery is guaranteed - and think Sheets starting the season is very optimistic. (That is the only way I can explain the decline in his value)
  23. I still believe that Sheets is still injured. It is unfathomable that he can't get at least 3 years and 30 million if he is completely recovered.
