  1. Did we ever find out why Mark Rogers didn't make his start a few days ago?
  2. April 25th, 2009. That is the day I decided to start appreciating Caleb Gindl. I've written him off for two years as too small. Beside, he was only putting up number in Rookie Ball and Low A. I'm sick of him proving me wrong. Caleb Gindl...I am a believer!
  3. I doubt Cain was going to be the Brewers CF next year. He is still pretty young. The biggest problem is that this ruins one year of development. Now we have to hope he is ready by 2011! Even before the injury, I suspected Cameron would be the starting CF in 2010.
  4. Gamel is on FaceBook. He wouldn't add me as a friend, however. You can actually look Gamel up, and then search his "friends" and find a bunch of Brewer farmhands. (Not that I have ever done that...)
  5. Two things... 1. Good lord, how much do car washes sell for in southern California!?! 2. Lenny Dykstra is a jerk.
  6. To call the Rattler's offense anemic is an understatement. They are just horrible... (And I thought Zarraga was a break-out candidate!) I need to get to Appleton to see Scarpetta pitch. I hope he doesn't get promoted too soon. Do we have mis-information about Rogers' start - or did something happen? (Paranoid - but well....I know the history)
  7. If only Gamel were a difference maker... I hate the idea of Gamel only playing part-time - since he has a chance to be special - but I would say his worst case scenario as a call-up is Russell Branyan. Edit: Gamel has 5 HR on the season. Four of them are against left-handed pitching.
  8. My sister-in-law ran the Boston Marathon and beat my personal best by 59 seconds. Having to train like crazy for a few months to improve upon my personal best really bugs me... (Sleeping in an extra hour every day is much easier!)
  9. If Gamel doesn't have the potential to be a "difference maker" - then I've never seen someone who did.
  10. I've loved how Macha has managed the pitchers thus far... When a pitcher is struggling, he takes him out. It is a very novel idea. Yost always like to let his pitchers "work through it". Macha manages his bullpen based on results. As soon as DiFelice threw 4 balls - Macha could tell he didn't have his best stuff and pulled him. I agree with the kudos.
  11. Huntsville's offense will be happy to see him...
  12. I wonder how Milwaukee fans would treat Gamel if he batted .430 with 4HR and 5 errors in the big leagues... Would he be loved for his batting? Or booed for his defensive plays? Milwaukee can be very tough on players.
  13. I can't believe you didn't bring up Ben Sheets!?! You were driving the bandwagon about resigning Ben in the offseason. (Actually, I think you were driving the bandwagon and running over people who disagreed with you!) I thought at least you would have asked if they suspected Ben was still hurt and that is why they didn't resign him...
  14. It's only A+ ball - but still, I have to remind myself that Mark Rogers is pitching! That is a pleasant surprise thus far.
  15. I don't think the Brewers are eager to take on another 10+ million in salary to help a mediocre Brewers team. I've always thought that 2008 was a push year for the Brewers, 2009 was a rebuild year, and 2010 would introduce the second wave of players to make another push. I just don't see the point in making a blockbuster trade this year - at the expense of the future. I can't see anyway the Brewers aren't better in 2010. With that in mind, if they do make a trade, I think it will be for a young player blocked at his major league team. (Such as Phil Hughes, Clay Buchholz or Homer Bailey) These players have a long-term future and won't push the payroll above its limits.
  16. Four innings and 8 K for Jeffress. He was a little shaky in the first - but very good the next three innings. Gamel hit a 2B off of Derrick Turnbow. Turnbow checks in with a solid 40.50 ERA.
  17. I really hope that is because it was a night game. I loved the kids running out onto the field every Sunday!
  18. I know a gal with a master's degree in mushrooms. (I don't know what it is technically called - but you get the idea) It's always really interesting being in the woods with her as she points out the various mushrooms. However, there are a lot of poisonous mushrooms as well. She once pointed out a mushroom that will make a man lactate as all of the fluid leaves his body before he dies.
  19. Gamel's defense is pretty much a non-issue in Milwaukee. The third baseman has no effect on walks and home runs.
  20. Agreed. I hate the heads up. I waste half of my day checking Brewerfan.net to see when the update is posted. (Which always seems to be a few hours late) I think Toby is just trying to drive extra traffic to the website!
  21. The player index has really fallen apart. I'd love to be able to see up-to-date stats for all of the Brewers (including farm hands) without having to head to other sites. For example, the last season posted for Escobar was 2006. I check his stats nightly. If the stats are not up-to-date, you might as well just scrap the player index entirely.
  22. The seats were actually probably dirty from opening day clean-up. I believe they use air hoses to push the garbage down the steps, out of the seats, and into the aisles to clean-up. This creates a lot of dust and pushes some garbage down from the upper deck to the 200 level. I could be wrong - but that is my guess.
  23. Huntsville isn't exactly an offensive force this year. To be fair, he does have two errors this season.
  24. It's only been a few throws...but Kendall is NOT going to throw out 50% of the runners this year. So far his throws have been horrible. (Only two - but still)
