  1. I really hope Braddock can get past this... However, this is starting to read a lot like Mark Rogers. Its always a diagnosis, followed by a "everything went well and we expect a full recovery". A healthy Braddock is a tick below Jeffress. An injured Braddock is like Rogers - who is no longer on the Power 50.
  2. Yadier Molina can snap throw pretty lightning quick to first base. It would really be about the same motion. (Of course, you would have to throw behind the batter)
  3. Jeff Cirillo was on the D-List this morning. He didn't really talk too much baseball, but he did give an update on what he is up to. Jeff Cirillo is now an advance scout for the Diamond Backs. He also purchased one of the wood bat teams in the same league that Gantner coaches in. I might be a tad off on the exact details. But if you want you can listen to the Audio clip here.
  4. When Weeks struggles, he is still approximately league average for a 2B. When he catches fire (September 2007), he is one of the best 2B in the league. So yeah, I'll take that.
  5. My second cold in a month. And the previous one lasted two weeks! Hormones. I think the best you can hope for is to find one that at least recognizes that she is crazy.
  6. Cain has started 151 games in RF and 88 in CF during his minor league career. I believe he does project as a CF, but the fact that he hasn't spent more time in CF is a concern. (I believe he usually played RF because of Brantley and Ford)
  7. I know. He threw a no hitter in 2006 enroute to a 2.83 ERA in his rookie year. He then pitched 30 innings in 2007 and 51.2 innings in 2008 thanks to injury. (Tear in his labrum) So yes, two years ago I would have been very interested in Anibal Sanchez.
  8. I actually think Hardy is the best player in the trade. I just think the contract/control situation on Ellsbury and Buchholz makes up the difference. (And then some) So you liked Ellsbury when he put up a .720 OPS before the all-star game, but not when he put up a .741 OPS after the all star game? His June and July were pretty rough. But he had a good August and a great September.
  9. The first time I see Prince Fielder in Spring Training will define his legacy for me. If he has gained more weight, I will always see him as a flash in the pan with a poor work ethic. If he has lost a significant amount, I will appreciate the effort and drive that he exhibited in trying to recapture his 2007 success.
  10. I just wanted to update three things. 1. A new Tecmo Bowl is definitely in the works. But the players will likely be generic. (QB Bills!) 2. Tyson probably isn't in the new Punch Out. I can't say officially...but 95% sure. 3. There is some doubt about how well Punch Out will work. Wii's controllers aren't very sensitive. They controllers don't have the technology to really establish where the punches are aimed. (For example, the controller likely won't recognize a punch to the face versus a punch to the stomach) Nintendo could just cheat the system - for example, when Hippo is taunting and leaving his stomach open they could have all the punches go to the stomach.
  11. Sure - but JJ Hardy has a bigger injury history than Buchholz.
  12. And he hit 9 HR as a 25 year old in the AL East. He will never slug 25. But I think his peak will likely be around 15 - which is pretty good for a lead off hitter. And a .394 with Boston in 2007. Bill James has him at a .359 OBP in 2009. Marcels has him at a .348 OBP in 2009. Ellsbury bats LH. Cain still has a significant amount of development. I like him a lot - but would not count him as a sure thing. And in actuality, Cain has played a pretty limited amount of CF. Or the 23 year old pitcher who posted a 2.47 ERA in 2008 while pitching in AAA? Injuries can happen to anyone (including JJ Hardy), so that point is kinda moot.
  13. Welcome aboard superbraun. He was available. I believe Baltimore was asking a ton for him. He really isn't much more than a generic closer. His saves stat makes him look better than he really is. Bedard certainly makes some sense. However, he is supposedly a jerk. And he often takes himself out of games around 100 pitches to try and protect his own arm. (So he doesn't go very deep into games)
  14. I can't even imagine how Milwaukee would be a better fit than the Dodgers. The Brewers don't really need a bat. (Well, maybe a LH bat) And Gagne signed with Milwaukee.
  15. I can't believe how many posts completely ignore age/contract/control factors. Ellsbury lost some luster last year. He is still a good CF. He is young. He bats LH. He is a lead-off hitter. And he would be under our control for years. Buchholz threw a freakin no hitter. A young pitcher struggling?! Unheard of! I'll gladly take that hype. Worse case scenario Buchholz becomes a cheap back of the rotation pitcher. His ceiling is still 1/2 type pitcher. And this is completely ignoring that fact that both players would move from the AL East to the NL Central. That is quite the talent jump. Cameron is paid a ton and only a one year player. Hardy is great. I love Hardy - but we have a replacement in the wings. (Presumably) And Hardy is about to make a lot of money. (As a free agent, he might command $15M a year) This trade would make the Brewers a little worse in 2009 - and much better in 2010. Yes. Yes he would.
  16. Man, you had me until this last paragraph. The Red Sox just tried to trade for Hanley Ramirez. A SS. They currently have Jed Lowrie as SS. Granted, the Red Sox really like Lowrie - but Hardy is at least twice the player. Cameron would be a great fit for them if they included Ellsbury in any trade. (And that was the premise of the thread) They currently have a great 1B in Youkilis. He could move to 3B and open a hole at first. But that still ignores that fact that Boston's top prospect is Lars Anderson - a 1B
  17. For the record - here is the snippet. Cruz expected to start, clean up: Ron Washington told the Dallas Morning News if he goes into opening day with the current lineup, Nelson Cruz would be his cleanup hitter. The manager wants Josh Hamilton third and put a right-handed bat behind him. Cruz has power. Cruz has holes in his swing. If he plays the entire year, he might bat .220 and hit 30 HR.
  18. They wouldn't face the same batters. So the change is speeds really doesn't have an effect. I do agree, however, that Villanueva definitely as the mentality. (But then, I think McClung does as well)
  19. Ellsbury and Buchholz are dream players for me. They are both the exact type of player the Brewers need. No way would they include Declarmen too. You would be really lucky to get them to even consider Ellsbury & Buchholz. Maybe production wise. But taking into account age/salary/contract Ellbury is about 5 times better than Cameron. However, Hardy is better than any of them.
  20. I am kinda under the assumption that the Brewers will sign one more MLB starting pitcher. (Even if it is a bad one) That would leave the #6 and #7 starters as McClung and DeFilice. You might be able to squeak Dillard in that conversation as well. And don't forget Capuano is always a possibility later in the season. In other words, I don't expect any minor league pitchers to start a game for the Brewers this year. Any call-ups will likely move to the pen - with one of the relief pitchers starting.
  21. I think I had Scarpetta in the top 7 or so. I really like your list clancy. However, it seems you rated them based on chance of success with the Brewers. I looked at ceiling a little more. (Well, and you clearly are related to Chris Cody)
  22. I am sure Chad Cordero wants an opportunity to close somewhere. I would imagine he might take less to be a closer than a set-up man elsewhere. He would likely take an incentive laden deal for one year to try and prove his health before looking for big bucks in FA. That said, in general, I agree with Diskono.
  23. 1. I rarely touch an alcoholic beverage. 2. When I do, I never drive. Even one beer is too many in my opinion. I am just curious what your rights are after you are pulled over for drinking and driving. Charles Barkley refused the breathalyzer. (Which I've heard many people do) Instead, Charles went to the hospital and had the blood test done instead. This obviously takes some time because they need to wait to get the results back. In the meantime, I believe he is issued a DUI citation. (Which if the test comes back negative, he can obviously fight) Profootballtalk.com (Whose author is a lawyer), reported that Charles should have refused the blood work as well - as that is within his legal rights. I've heard that you can refuse the breathalyzer, but then you have to take a blood test. I've also heard that if you think you are too drunk to drive - you should take the breathalyzer because it is sometimes wrong. If you think you are sober enough to drive - you should take the blood test to make sure you get an accurate reading. Now, after reading at profootballtalk.com - being forced to take a blood test doesn't make much sense. The government can't really force you to stick a needle in your arm anymore than they can force you to breath into a breathalyzer. So who is right - can you refuse both a breathalyzer and a blood test?
  24. My brother is in the business. They are remaking Tecmo SuperBowl. I am not 100% sure on the players though. He told me, I just forgot. I know the big problem is EA paid 2 gazillion dollars to the players union to be the only authorized game to use player names. EA needs that to maintain their dominance with Madden. So that is a huge hurdle.
