  1. Man, I'm really getting slapped around on this one. I will simply explain it this way. To purchase two very mediocre terrace reserve seats to opening day will cost around $80 a ticket. (Ebay) For a total of $160 for two tickets. I could have purchased two 9-game packs with good seats (and free opening day tickets) for a total of $250. So I could have attended 9 extra games (two seats) for only $5 a ticket. I'm not upset about getting the shot at opening day tickets. I just wish there was a way to know what the ticket was going to be before other options had expired. I would have gladly bought an addition 9-pack. (The Brewers really have to do a lot of delicate dancing because of some of their ticket promotions. For example, last year they gave away the vouchers for a free ticket to a 2009 game in "similar seats". However, they have no way of knowing how many people will exchange their voucher for tickets - and in the meantime the Brewers are selling tickets at a record pace. I know it is part of the business, but with the incredible demand for Brewer tickets already - I would imagine it makes it harder to fullfill all the other requests.)
  2. You are completely missing my point. I am upset because I thought I had decent seats and passed on the opportunities to get better/other seats through different methods. Now I find out that I have obstructed view seats in Racine County. Now I will have to pay a huge premium to get better opening day tickets. I would actually have no problem with the Brewers not offering the "extra" opening day tickets. I was just unhappy to be offered them - and then get less than expected.
  3. I am VERY disappointed with my opening day tickets. I have had a terrace reserve 20-pack for the past three years. I also usually spend around $500-$1000 on other tickets during the season. My 20-pack does not have opening day because I have always been able to order it separately The tickets I received are in section 404 - and are OBSTRUCTED VIEW! I received this memo with my tickets. Enclosed please find your tickets for the 2009 Home Opener vs. Chicago Cubs on April 10. This year, our season ticket base has increased substantially, as such, in come cases you may notice your seat location is in an area you hadn't originally requested on your form. All Opening Day order forms were filled based on plan type in the date order received. Full Season forms were filled first, 40-game plan forms next, followed by Partial Season forms. Due to extremely tight inventory for Opening Day, some SSH's who turned in Partial Season order forms may have received seats in an area deemed obstructed view. Based on ticket demand, instead of not filling forms when seating areas reach capacity, we opted to allocate those remaining forms into obstructed view seats. If you are dissatisfied with your seat location and would like a refund of your Opening Day tickets, please feel free to contact your account executive to make those arrangements. I believe I mailed in my Opening Day ticket request two weeks before the deadline. I am upset because I could have taken MANY other avenues towards decent opening day tickets but did not because I HAD ALREADY ORDERED MINE. They were still offering 9-game packs with free Opening Day tickets well after I mailed in my order form. In addition, I saw people purchasing Opening Day tickets at the artic tailgate. I passed on all of these options - and ended up with some of the worst seats in the house. I definitely support the Brewers. And I understand their limited supply. (I actually would have had no problem with them not offering partial season ticket holders the option to buy additional Opening Day tickets) I just feel as though they did not deliver on the promised tickets in this case.
  4. I'm officially adding Hawing to my favorite posters listing thanks to that pull. I looked through 2 years of Helling game logs to try and find it. I must have just over-looked. D'oh!
  5. Prince really looks trim in those pictures. His shirt actually hangs off of his chest instead of clinging to his stomache. Weeks looks smaller too. Last year I thought his back-side looked huge - this year, he doesn't look as "wide"

  7. I just wanted to add "azcheesehead" to the mix. I know a few times he has been down in Maryville giving first hand updates and pictures before any of the papers had any news. It's always good to have a few first hand reports.
  8. Rick Helling is the man. I can't find the game log. But I believe he once struck out the side on 9 pitches to start a game.
  9. "Leadership" is the most overrated aspect of any baseball player. However, Mike Cameron is the only player I have ever seen where I would actually pay extra for his "leadership". His presence appears to be a very welcome addition to the rest of the team. It isn't often the 5 or 6th best player on the team sets the mood - but Cameron seems to have the aura about him.
  10. In honor of the Oscars, I was wondering if fellow posters on Brewerfan.net had other posters that they particularly enjoyed reading. I really enjoy a few members insights and opinions. (Of course, there are also a few who go the other way - but I figure we better keep this thread civil!) I will also say I have never met any of these people - so personal/offline opinions are non existent. Favorite Posters (Cheating edition - moderators) 1. colbyjack 2. pogocat 3. And That 4. Brian The Automator (Although he doesn't seem to post as much anymore) Favorite Posters (Real edition) 1. Ennder (Great insight. Fair and balanced. Usually mixes quality statistics with opinions.) 2. battlekow (Although I don't think he posts much/anymore) 3. TooLiveBrew (Always a ton of posts. Plays pretty fair) 4. Agent39 (Never says much - but I always like some first hand scoop) 5. DadofAndrew (I think he left. He had a blog - so I suppose I could read that if I really wanted) Anyone else have some favorites they like to read?
  11. Gamel has always had the laid back "surfer" dude attitude. I am not sure what this means - but perhaps he was just taking a casual approach with his injuries. Either way, while I am a big fan of his baseball game, he appears to need to learn a bit of professionalism.
  12. I understand the economics of the situation. However, the Bucks still would have the option of trading RJ or someone else in the offseason in an attempt to sign CV or Sessions. I think the Bucks can compete for the #6 seed. I don't think you give that away.
  13. That link talked about Jefferson to Cleveland... I really hope the Bucks stand pat. This is the first Bucks team in 7 or 8 years with a real identity. I really respect the intensity and effort RJ, Sessions, Bell and Charlie V are putting up everynight. (I actually saw 24 second violations on Detriot last night!) I understand, trading RJ might be the right move - so I could accept it. But for the first time in at least 3 years, I was really excited to watch the game last night.
  14. The most amazing part of the story... I think Gagne could have gotten this contract from almost any team in MLB. And he chose the Brewers. That is pretty rare. I'll take a free pitcher for Spring Training.
  15. On the night Yovani returned from his ACL injury and Ryan Braun hit a walk off home run against the Pirates, Gagne bought and gave away 10,000 tickets to Brewer fans because he wanted the stadium to be full. Most people forget already, but going into the Brewers last 10 games or so, everyone had left the team for dead. The interest and attendence was way down. Gagne bought the tickets, got everyone excited, created a playoff like atmosphere for Gallardo's return - and Braun's grand slam pushed the Brewers towards the final run. I give Gagne a lot of credit with getting Milwaukee back on the Brewers bandwagon that last week of the season.
  16. Josh - Pass on our best wishes to Pena. I know he has been a long time client of yours. We hate to see him go - and wish the best for him in Seattle. (Unless we ever meet in the World Series!)
  17. I've been saying since December Sheets would miss the start of the season. There was just no way he was going to get so little interest if he was able to pitch. Of course, I say lots of things....
  18. Wright = Zack Jackson. I'll take it. I don't want him to pitch for the Brewers - but with an option left he makes nice AAA depth. Fryer posted good numbers - but was never really considered much of a prospect. It's unlikely he ever sees MLB.
  19. The advantage of waiting until June or July is three-fold. 1. You only have to pay half of his salary. 2. You get to see what position your team is before deciding to spend a ton of money. 3. See how the economic conditions affect the Brewers attendance. I completely understand your point that Peavy could help in April and May as well. However, I think the Brewers want to see how their current players fare first. (If Yo throws out his arm in the first week of the season - it probably doesn't pay to trade for Peavy anymore) Peavy would only be a few wins over the entire season better than McClung. So there really isn't much hard in waiting.
  20. My guess is that you wouldn't qualify. I used to work construction way back when and would get laid off over the winter months. I am not sure a part-time job qualified for unemployment benefits. (And you would definately receive less benefits because of your other income. That said, I knew many people who just didn't report their other income. That is 100% illegal. But lets face it, there are lots of cash based transactions out there!) Head to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development website to apply. It is really easy - and certainly worth the 5 minutes to find out.
  21. Can someone explain why some beer bottles are not twist off? Amber Bock used to be a twist off - a few years ago they returned to the manual pop off tops. Its like reheating food the in the oven when you could use a microwave. WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY!
  22. Really? If you are going to argue the definitions of words - how about using a dictionary? Profit: the excess of returns over expenditure in a transaction or series of transactions ; especially : the excess of the selling price of goods over their cost Income is all the money you take it. Profit is what you make after expenses. (You fellas have quite a few errors in your logic and definitions - but I don't really want to turn this even more off topic that it already is)
  23. You are correct. However, there is a reason behind that scene. While this movie was a Hollywood movie - it was certainly done with a semi-salute to Bollywood. (India's version of Hollywood) Almost all Bollywood movies end with an elaborate dance scene. The end of Slumdog Millionaire was done as a tribute to Bollywood. (It doesn't make it right - just understandable)
  24. I want to change my own idea. You only get comp picks for players you developed (Drafted or signed), played through arbitration, and then lost via free agency. You don't receive a comp pick for signing a free agent to a one year deal - then letting him leave the next year. (Red Sox's apparent plan this year) The additional bonus is that home grown players are likely to stay with the team instead of being traded before free agency.
