  1. Shouse was like 67 years old before he became a good pitcher. So I don't think Stetter's age is very relevant.
  2. You mean most 1B don't play CF too? I bet Prince plays a mean CF!
  3. Agreed. You don't argue with people in the "Vent Thread", as they are only there to vent. And you don't post negative comments in the Silver Lining thread, otherwise they aren't silver linings!
  4. Brantley has been fantastic this year. As a CF, he has to move up the Power 50.
  5. Mitch Stetter would be very useful in our bullpen. If Yost isn't willing to use Turnbow - I would rather keep Stetter up to have more options.
  6. Cameron can play 5 AAA games before his suspension is up. So as soon as his 25 MLB games are up - he will be ready to go.
  7. M'eh It's pretty temporary as we shift through a few injuries. (Gwynn, Sheets and Yovanni) This will be worked out in no time. And it isn't like we are wasting a Joe Dillon option - because we were never going to use them all anyways. I am kind of surprised it wasn't Gross being sent down. And in all seriousness, if we need a RH bat off the bench - Yovani could pinch hit.
  8. Exactly. He is a professional athlete. He knows what a sore muscle feels like. This is probably something more. All I know, when something starts hurting on me - that didn't hurt before...it means something is wrong.
  9. Buy terrace reserved tickets for bobblehead days - and then sell your bobblehead on Ebay. It will pay for your entire ticket. Or, if you don't want the hassle - there is always a guy on the west side of the stadium (On the grassy divide between parking lots) paying cash for bobbleheads. I would imagine he is only paying $5 or so, but still....
  10. I was 8 years old at the time sitting in the LF bleachers as that HR sailed over our heads. The only thing I remember was being scared that the entire bleacher section was going to crack and break from everyone jumping and shouting on the bleachers. I don't remember the game. I just remember feeling really small and in a huge massive loud crowd that frightened me. Too bad I didn't know more about baseball at the time - It was a helluva game!
  11. Stetter deserves the chance right now. As mentioned, the Reds are a very LH dominant team. Stetter was great last year in the minors against LH batters. He was very good overall in spring training - and has looked great in AAA again this year. Makes a lot of sense to me.
  12. For my money - La Russa is the best manager in MLB. I actually enjoy watching him manage...and that makes me mad.
  13. Actually, that is kinda my point. He started out with the really baggy uniform. Maybe he just wanted to try something new - but maybe he was hiding something. Lately he has been wearing more *normal* looking uniforms. It is recently that I have really thought he looked fatter. Note: I am not saying Prince isn't going to be good this year, or for years to come. My point is entirely that IF he is already gaining weight - that could be a big indicator of problems to come in regards to his career path. I think most agree he will get too big at some point in his career...the question is when.
  14. Rickie really isn't the guy I want up in this situation
  15. I think a better example of going "overboard" would be failing to read a post accurately and turning a legitimate question (Long-term Contracts vs Arbitration) into implying others are calling them "bums"
  16. There have been a few on this site that are perfectly happy with Prince and Braun going year to year through arbitration. But it seemed as though the majority was in favor of giving both of them long-term contracts - assuming they would sign. After 13 games, has anyone changed their mind? 1. Prince has really struggled at the plate. He is batting .222 and slugging .289. But my bigger concern - Prince looks fat. He used to be "barrel chested", not he looks sloppy fat. He looks like he has been putting on 20 lbs a year. I am not so sure we still want him in 3 or 4 years. He very well might have peaked last year. 2. Braun has been moved off of 3B. Playing LF certainly limits his value. He had significant problems last year drawing walks. He hasn't shown any improvement this year. If he isn't able to exhibit better patience - he severly limits how successful he can be as a Brewer. My point is, why would we pay Prince and Braun based on career years?
  17. I just have a feeling that the move to open a spot for Yovanni is going to involve Turnbow. He might be traded. But my gut tells me we are about to see a Vargas type cut. Yost just hasn't been willing to use him. If that is the case, what is the point of having him in the pen.
  18. At this point, Gross should jump in front of the plate.
  19. http://msnbcmedia4.msn.com/j/msnbc/Components/Photos/050625/050625_prince_fielder_vmed.vmedium.jpg Well, Prince has clearly put on a lot of weight from his rookie year.
  20. Is it just me or is Prince looking less "Barrel Chested" and more "Fat"...
  21. Seems like it should be posted somewhere... Kapler was suppose to start today at CF against a RHP. Brian and Bill on FSN mentioned really briefly that it sounded like Kapler is going to start until Cameron is back. (But I would have to think Gwynn gets a few starts yet) However, Kapler bruised his shoulder warming up today - so he was a late scratch. Sounds like nothing serious.
  22. You should have told the Cop that some jerk was going under the speed limit in the fast lane. Must have been something about you that he didn't like. Because that is insane.
