  1. Maybe everyone already uses this website - but if you haven't, it is a pretty good reference for minor league stats. Minor League Splits It has significantly more stats than Milb.com. For example, Davis and Gennett are tearing it up, but they also have a .431 and .500 BABIP, respectively. I also was not aware that Lawrie has such different splits. His career OPS against left handed pitching is 1.016 in over one hundred at bats. His career OPS against right handed pitching is .723 in over four hundred at bats. You can also play with the stats to neutralize "luck" and "park" - as well as display Major League Equivalents. (I haven't looked into how these are all computed - but a fun resource nonetheless) I'm sure a lot are already aware of and using this site - but for any who aren't, you can waste an entire day there.
  2. Does anyone know any good (and cheap) software to convert .avi files to play on an IPod? I have a trial version of Cucusoft, which works very well - but costs $40.00. I'd prefer something cheaper (or free) if possible.
  3. Injuries have just been brutal this year. Haudricourt was on the D-List this past week and mentioned how Logan just wasn't healing like they expected. It sounded as though the Brewers were becoming concerned about his status.
  4. Braddock, Smith, Axford and Stetter all a deserving of a role in the bullpen. I hope Melvin learns to not waste money on relief pitchers in the future.
  5. Maybe is it just perception, but it seems like a big Brewers win is inevitably followed by a horrible night by the affiliates. Tough night all around. Hope nothing is wrong with Mark Rogers. I wonder if Capuano is going to be taking Chase Wright's spot in Nashville.
  6. Ned Yost just penciled you all in as starters for today game.
  7. Very exciting game in Huntsville. They scored 4 in the bottom of the 9th to collect the walk-off win thanks to Maldonado. West Tenn intentionally walked two(!) players to get to Maldonado - and he made them pay. Huntsville Bottom 9th Pitcher Change: Josh Fields replaces Luis Munoz. Lee Haydel walks. With Caleb Gindl batting, Lee Haydel steals (6) 2nd base. Caleb Gindl flies out to left fielder Carlos Peguero. Zelous Wheeler doubles (4) on a ground ball to left fielder Carlos Peguero. Lee Haydel scores. Taylor Green doubles (11) on a fly ball to right fielder Joseph Dunigan. Zelous Wheeler scores. Coaching visit to mound. Chris Errecart triples (2) on a ground ball to right fielder Joseph Dunigan. Taylor Green scores. West Tenn Diamond Jaxx Manager Tim Laker ejected by HP umpire Nick Bailey. Josh Fields intentionally walks Anderson Machado. Josh Fields intentionally walks Brent Brewer. Anderson Machado to 2nd. Coaching visit to mound. Pitcher Change: Anthony Varvaro replaces Josh Fields. Martin Maldonado singles on a fly ball to right fielder Joseph Dunigan. Chris Errecart scores. Anderson Machado to 3rd. Brent Brewer to 2nd.
  8. I wish some of the other affiliates would play at game at Miller Park. I can drive to Appleton to see the Timber Rattlers whenever I want. But I'll probably never see a Sounds, Sea Cow or Star game in person.
  9. I think Lofgren deserves to be viewed as a potential #5 starter. Heckathorn and Jeffress have a lot in common. Biggest difference is Jeffress' drug past. If Jeffress is an A merely on potential - then Heckathorn probably should be too. (Or you can argue that both are D) Anundsen probably doesn't belong on the list at all.
  10. I guess Macha's job is to coach the players on this team. But he comes off as very uninformed as well. No wonder prospects die under Macha.
  11. I believe reports were that he was around 87 mph on his fastball. That is pretty much the same prior to his injury. He did have a "flare up" out of spring training that caused him to be shut down for awhile.
  12. The Brewers have overpaid for replacement level players like Soup and Gagne. The mistakes they have made in free agency should not have a bearing on their minor league system. I think the point that many of us are trying to make is that REPLACEMENT level players can be had for cheap. (I love Gindl, but most project very little MLB success.) It doesn't matter to me if our starting right fielder is Gindl or Cattolanatto if they both perform at the same level because the cost would be similiar. Special players like Prince and Braun win games. Have a rookie making 400,000 K would be a much better alternative than Soup. But my argument is that Soup never should have been paid in the first place. There are plenty of 30 year old pitchers who could replicate his numbers on a minimum contract. Of course, I suppose a deeper system at least might protect Melvin from himself overpaying replacement players.
  13. TheCrew07, you are right - but those pitching prospect were traded for other pitchers. Position players rarely get traded for stud pitching prospects.
  14. Best of luck to Angel. This is certainly an obstacle that can be overcome, but I understand the frustration of some fans. Can Angel play in the majors? Absolutely. But this does make the road a little more difficult.
  15. I really liked Chris Smith during his time in Milwaukee. I hope he gets another chance someday. Thanks for taking the reins with the updates TheCrew07
  16. I hope Salome is OK. Is it possible that the promotion of Lucroy didn't help the situation?
  17. I am a big Gamel fan. But this board really falls in love with their prospects. We have not had good representation on any top 100 rankings. I love a lot of our players - but the talent at the top is limited. I hope my negativity towards a few players isn't overwhelming, but Lawrie's attitude problems are a big concern for me. Plus, you have to admit we have really struck out on a few high picks lately. ( Adams, Lintz and Dykstra)
  18. Not that anyone cares, but my top 10 would look like this... 1. Zach Braddock - Starter or closer. Either one is very valuable. They better not waste him in middle relief. 2. Jake Odorrizi - Great results so far. Seems like the only pitcher the Brewers have really taken the time to develop properly. 3. Johnathan Lucroy - I'd like more power. And he probably peaks as a "good" MLB catcher - but too close to a quality player already not have to ranked this high. 4. Wily Peralta - Scouting reports are great this year. Patience is about to pay off. 5. Lorenzo Cain - Can play CF. Looked great in spring training 2 years ago. 2009 was a wasted season. Current .450 OBP is great. Could use some extra base hits 6. Mat Gamel - Injured. Often. Brewers offered him up in trades and found no real takers. That says a lot. Poor defender might not have enough power for 1B. Swing looks slow. 7. Brett Lawrie - Can't play defense. Has a bad attitude. And has but up good, but far from great numbers. Other than scouting reports at all-star game - why should I be excited? 8. Caleb Gindl - Nothing but production. Every year he improves a little. 9. Jeremy Jeffress - Can still throw 100 mph. A good pitching coach should be able to harness that. 10. Kyle Heckathorn - Lots of velocity and limiting walks makes for a good combination. A few people have commented about how deep the Power 50 is currently. And while that is a good think for the minor league affiliates (more wins), I think it has almost no impact on the MLB team. If anything, I think our minor league system is pretty depleted. Player ranked lower than 10 rarely make MLB baseball - and even more rarely have an impact. Is it great to have so much depth that Brooks Hall is 35? Or is it horrible that half our of top 10 might never make it to MLB? Special players win ball games. Our system is full of replacement players.
  19. Can we just transform the Joba rules to the Braddock rules? I'm not sure if the argument is about where he belongs or who is the Brewers closer next year. He might just stay a relief pitcher out of need.
  20. I'm done with Arnett. The 11.25 ERA just isn't doing it for me. I'm past "small sample size" - he isn't a top 20 prospect anymore. Braddock does it again. Another inning, another 3 strikeouts. (1 BB) Lucroy only had one hit, but the .393 average sure is pretty.
  21. I hear Turnbow is available?
  22. I was just coming to post the same thing. From the outside he seems like he is flaking a bit. He was also suppose to play Winter Ball but ended up traveling all the way for like 10 at bats. Something seems odd here.
  23. The change up issue is perplexing. How can you just keep throwing meatballs down the heart of the plate? Time for Braddock!
  24. It's great to see Capuano pitching again. Lord knows he's earned it. Mark Rogers was lit up tonight. 2.1 innings/5 hits/10 runs/6 BB/1 K
  25. That was my thought when I heard the news as well. Good for Narveson. Hopefully moving back to the rotation with get him back on track. He had a great Spring Training - but so did Greg Zaun. Braddock, Stetter, Axford and Chris Smith are all better options that Suppan out of the bullpen. That said, we should have a very effective bullpen already. Todays game is a perfect example of when to use Suppan. I'm happy to keep him around to mop up 10 run losses and save our other relief pitchers. I would not want that role for Braddock, Stetter, Axford or Smith.
