  1. My man-crush on Zach Braddock is becoming unhealthy. I REALLY want to see him throw 3 innings in the near future.
  2. I can't believe Prince is just getting a pass on this. Prince hasn't taken batting practice in two days because of his hand. Hurting yourself because you were angry is just stupid. I love passion. But stupidity should not be applauded as passion.
  3. Maas - I just wanted to say thanks for posting the tandem starters. It's a pleasant reminder.
  4. You took the words right out of my mouth, TheCrew07. Yikes is right. And that's without mentioning the difficulties of Arnett so far. Thank goodness we've had extra picks the past few years from Shouse & Sabathia - because there have been a lot of misses. Who's the Chris Cody fan? Briggs? He is going to be devastated!
  5. Looks like the Brewers used up all the baseball karma today. What an ugly night so far for the affiliates... I'm about ready to lump Arnett with Cody Adams and Evan Frederickson. I just shake my head and sigh when I look at their lines... *sigh*
  6. I sleep well enough at night knowing Dusty Baker would never let the Reds win the NL Central. Joe Morgan doesn't need to make any baseball decisions.
  7. Braddock has had injury problems. If I remember correctly I was an elbow ligament. And Braddock is bi-polar. But that has nothing to do with any missed time so far.
  8. That is a great article. Very fascinating. John Brew - how has running "barefoot" with the Nike Free effected your times/workout? It seems like it would be very hard on your calf muscles.
  9. Is it wrong to keep Cain in AA? Nashville's offense is so pitiful, I don't want him wasting his efforts. Sad to see Lucroy struggling tonight. His 2-5 night drops his average down a notch. But at least he picked off two base runners. Looks like Lofgren had some control problems tonight. Let's hope it is temporary. Also, that is 7 doubles already for Taylor Green. Extra base hits are nice.
  10. I would assume Stetter will be called up before him. Maybe Axford. I love Braddock's potential. But unless there are a few injuries, I don't see a move imminent. BTW, he has gone more than one inning several times this year. Maybe starting isn't completely out of the equation?
  11. You really think the organization has been too aggressive with Arnett? He is two years older than Odorizzi and pitching in the same league. Or are you referring to his innings? He threw a lot last year, but I believe one of his benefits was his "workhorse" ability. I would think after an offseason, he should be ready to go this year. I was disappointed last year. I continue to be disappointed this year. Chuck Lofgren made a pinch hitting appearance tonight. Interesting. Lucroy has 1 strikeout in 33 at bats. He won't fit in very well with the Brewers. Have we gotten any Logan Schafer updates? I originally thought he had a pretty minor injury, and that had to be 4 weeks ago already.
  12. I know everyone scoffed at his mediocre performance last year, but Arnett didn't really show any flashes last year either. If he wasn't going to be allowed to throw all of his pitches, then what was the point of him pitching at all? I was worried to see Salome out of the box score again. Thanks for the heads up Maas. Nice to see Taylor Green chip in with some extra base hits. If I remember correctly, I believe he only had one in all of AFL. Looks like he has made significant progress on that wrist injury. Good to hear Gamel is starting his road back.
  13. I used to buy 6 or so at a time. I was a college kid and had a good relationship with my ticket rep. (I also had a 20 pack) He never even asked who they were for. But again, this was the days of the 25,000 crowds
  14. Cain could be promoted when Schafer comes back... Otherwise, this Huntsville team might rival the LaPorta, Gamel and Salome team from 2 years ago.
  15. In honor of the IPad's release this weekend - what recent technology can you not live without? 1. DVR (About 4/5 years ago when we first got it - I thought it was the best $5 a month I had ever spent. I can't imagine TV without it) 2. Wireless Internet (A desktop computer instead of a laptop seems insane now-a-days) 3. Roomba (A robot that vacuums my house for me? Yes please!) 4. ITouch (IPods are great, but other than while running, I never really listen to mine. ITouch on the other had is used daily in the home. Only wish I had gone with the full IPhone) As a bonus, my list of most overrated items... 1. HDTV (We have two big HDTVs - they are nice. But they don't really make TV better for me. 2. Cell phones (Other than texting to leave messages for my wife, I almost miss just having a home line.) 3. Wii (While not much of a gamer, I've never really gotten into the Wii. I still think the best feature is downloading old games for $5) I have never used a BlueRay or seen a 3D television. I figure since I don't appreciate HDTV that much or own DVDs - BlueRay would probably be a waste of money. I have a hard time imagining 3D television taking off. Is there anything you can't live without?
  16. He has two options remaining according to Brewerfan.net
  17. Agreed. Well said Strawboss. I think people forget about where the Brewers were 4 years ago. This board was pretty excited to get a free agent of Suppan's quality. (Very limited, but still) Prior to that, the idea of a free agent coming to Milwaukee was completely unheard of. As the Brewer have gotten better, we have been able to draw from a better class of free agents. But the point is, 3 years ago, Trevor Hoffman doesn't sign with the Brewers. The Brewers HAD to overpay. I have no problem with Soup. Doug Melvin overpaid him. Soup has been an outstanding member of our community and worked hard. I wish he was better, but that is hardly his own fault.
  18. I understand the hesitancy to put a potential stud like Braddock in the bullpen, but closers can cost up to $10M a year. Braddock as a closer opens money to spend on a starting pitcher. As long as he isn't pitching the 7th or 8th inning, I don't mind him pitching in relief.
  19. I always thought he got stuck in the bullpen because his injuries kept him from logging enough innings to be a starter. As Colby said, he has the pitches, but I think the most innings he ever threw was around 70. His stuff is MLB ready. Are you going to keep him in the minors two more years to build up his endurance 40 innings at a time?
  20. Great news. Aguilar has really struggled at the higher levels. Lofgren has struggled too. But we need starting pitching depth. We are well covered in the bullpen.
  21. I think Gomez will see a fair share of time on the bench, or even in AAA. Mach and the rest of the Brewers brass seems to be in love with Edmounds.
  22. I think you are all missing a key part of the story. It was written by a major league star. That star shared a story about Bill Hall. He also quoted his RBI totals from his great season and the next season. Then he went on to say Ryan Braun is one of the hardest working guys. That is a very Brewer-centric piece. I'd say there is good money that a Brewer who wrote that article.
  23. Two years ago he was as highly touted as Manny Parra. The biggest difference might be that one of them threw a perfect game. If Cleveland was willing to part with him as a Rule V pick, I'd assume they would part with him for a minor prospect. (Which would mean we can place him in AAA) I doubt he will ever be great. But a lefty who is still relatively young and can light-up the gun is better than a lot of our AAA options. Seems like a "change of scenary" player.
  24. Counsell improves and everyone is willing to credit Sveum for fixing his swing. McGehee improves and everyone assumes it is a fluke. Honestly, I expect McGehee to regress - but I think the power was real. I expect 20 HRs if he plays a full season. A .800 OPS is possible. Regarding Gamel, I spent a few years argueing with everyone that he wasn't just trade "fodder" - he was a legitmate prospect. In the past year, I think he might have gone from underrated to overrated. The Brewers were offering him around this winter and didn't get much interest. The "Macha ruined him" theory seems overstated. He was horrible after he went back down to AAA and was seeing regular playing time. Not to mention, his defense was never good to begin with. He's a prospect. But I'd say McGehee is just as likely to have a successful MLB career as Gamel.
  25. I REALLY wanted Lofgren to end up on our AAA roster as depth. Bush, Suppan, Narveson and Parra are all out of options. Two make the rotation - one in the pen. We likely lose the other. I really don't like any of our AAA pitchers to fill in if needed. (Unless Cappy can continue to come back)
