  1. I have no problem looking a Burgos in spring, but I think he at least needs to show something in AAA first. If he does well in AAA, he could be a call up at some point in 2013. His first 3 years in the minors were very mediocre. This is the first year he has really made himself into a legit prospect.
  2. He was already traded to Texas for Olt.
  3. thanks k rod you finally made DM realize we should be sellers! Fixed.
  4. Hasn't every cubs GM said that for the last 3 years?
  5. So if we had only lost 4 of 6 we weren't?!?!?!?!?!?! That is a scary thought....
  6. I guess you are going to disagree with everyone else here on leaving him in for the 8th, and that is your opinion. I just have a hard time thinking him giving up 3 runs in the 8th would have been a lot worse for the brewers than him going out there and throwing another shut out inning would have gained us. Scouts and other GMs seem very pleased by what they saw.
  7. -Taking out Greinke WHEN YOU'RE TRYING TO SHOWCASE HIM and you're winning with 87 pitches... -Taking out Axford for K-Rod when they're both struggling and one is your future long term closer and the other is going to be gone. What is wrong with either of those things? 1) Greinke showed what he had to show. Now there is a feeding frenzy over him. Sending him out for the 8th could have only lowered his value. 2) We tried to showcase K-Rod as a potential closer and it didn't work. Ax wasn't getting the job done either, so its hard to say if we would have won any more games. 3) We are not making the playoffs this year. Losing games is not a bad thing at this point, it only improves our draft position. 4) I agree with you on squeeze plays and Kotsay issues.
  8. Yeah, you don't have to spend the money. You see what you have in Green and save it for down the road. Mark A has said we cannot sustain a $100M payroll year in and year out, but we can do $80M some years and $100M other years. This team still has Braun, Gallardo, Lucroy, Hart, Axford, Weeks (maybe), and you can start to add guys like Fiers, Thornburg, and Peralta to the list. There are still plenty of players for John Q. Public to come watch.
  9. Again, whether its Ramirez, Green, Ransom, Olt, or David Wright playing 3B for the Brewers next year, this team isn't making the playoffs. They need to restructure and rebuild. No reason to pay a veteran to play while going through that process. If someone would take over that contract for us, it would be fantastic. I REITERATE! I am not unhappy with Ramirez, he has been very good and I think he is a good value for the Brewers, but we just aren't in a win now mode, which is why I want to trade him.
  10. turbo, I do not want to get rid of Ramirez because I think we would be a better team without him, I just don't see the Brewers being a competitive team in the next 2-3 years with him on the team, so what is the point of paying him? If we can get any sort of prospects and save the money, that is a win for the Brewers. Also, it is way too early to write off Taylor Green at this point. Give him a chance to have some significant playing time in the majors before you say he can't play.
  11. This could probably be re-titled and moved to the transactions forum...
  12. Slappzilla, You seem to be the only person anywhere on the intranets saying that.
  13. I'm not saying AmRam's deal is bad, but the Brewers aren't going to compete for the next 2 years, so there is no reason to keep him when you can have Taylor Green playing on the cheap.
  14. If Aramis doesn't, then either trade him to that team or let them take him. There is no reason to keep him. Weeks maybe not, I was thinking based off of this year's performance he may make it through.
  15. Here is a list of players that should make it totally through waivers or at least through most teams. Rickie Weeks Aramis Ramirez Randy Wolf K-Rod Nyjer Morgan Kameron Loe Jose Veras Manny Parra George Kottaras Just wanted people to keep in mind that these guys do not NEED to be traded within a week.
  16. This is a discussion on whether to sign him or trade him. The other should be discussion potential trades involving Greinke.
  17. If they kept AmRam, they could always DH him.
  18. My point is that if Olt is the best player they can get, they shouldn't avoid him because they do not have a current trade partner for Aramis. I am still up for trading Ramirez even if they don't get Olt.
  19. Olt doesn't need to start this year or next year. If you get Olt, you are not forced to trade Aramis.
  20. "Someone just let me know when the games start to mean something again" April 1st, 2013
  21. I'm not sure today could have gotten much better. Greinke looked amazing and the Brewers still lost. This should give DM and MA no more thoughts of contending this season. I was very happy with the outcome of tonights game. Greinke really showed the total package. Show me Profar!!!
  22. Maldonado is about at the peak of what his value will be. You wouldn't trade our backup catcher to someone who views him as a starter? I will be disappointed if they don't trade him this off season. Sorry for being off topic....
  23. Its all just projection if you are looking at minor league stats. I don't think he's going to come up and blast 26 HRs in half a season either, but success in the minors is a better indication of success in the majors than failure in the minors.
  24. I will take a guy that strikes out a lot that gets on base at a .402 clip.
