I think the problem is that you keep going back to the well saying that he is giving up a lot of runs. You are correct, there is no argument against that. I think we all agree with the fact that he has given up runs. Those of us opposing your view point are saying that even though he has given up runs, we aren't panicking about what to expect over the rest of the year because his past success and his peripheral numbers lead us to believe that he will eventually turn his solid pitching into solid results.
The Brewers are 8-3 in his starts. Aren't those really the only results that matter when we are worried about making the playoffs? If you are going to cherry pick his ERA, I'm going to look at everything except ERA and look at him as a pretty darn good pitcher this year.
I don't know what this says about Dylan, I know he is going through dealing with Diabetes, but here are his freshman year stats at San Diego University. 9 GS, 34.1 IP, 1-3, 7.60 ERA, 29 K, 28 BB
Nah. Roenicke said Nieves would catch for Narveson as long as he was pitching so well. He didn't want to tinker with that. Doesn't mean anything as far as Kottaras goes. Or that we are facing a LHP.
We aren't comparing the two this year. (At least I'm not) I'm comparing 2010 Escobar to 2011 Betancourt and I believe these will pretty much be the same.
Escobar didn't do well last year. He batted .235 with a .288 OBP. Pretty much what we will probably get with Yuni this year. Betancourt is a career 83 OPS+ plus player where as Escobar had a 67 OPS+. If you take defense into account, I'd say you can pretty much call 2010 Escobar and 2011 Betancourt a wash.
John Jaso lead off for the Rays for many games last year and didn't seem to have much of a problem with that. After the first inning, batting order really means nothing. Also, every lineup has weak spots and we as fans need to accept that. As long as Gomez can contribute in the field, he is as asset to the team. We need our stars to carry us offensively and anything we get from our "weak spots" is bonus.
Hey guys, I am looking into taking a trip to Ireland with a friend towards the end of August and was looking for any and all suggestions you may have on what to see and where to stay. I have done some reading online but I figured if anyone here had any other suggestions, the more knowledge the better. Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.
