  1. Rickie Weeks is a piece of garbage. I'd handle him for 2009 like a piece of garbage. You can dress up a piece of garbage by throwing in the recycleable container, but irregardless, it's still out of your house.
  2. He is a big game pitcher, but not on short rest. What the Freak is Sveum doing now. Overthinking as usual. Any idea on how a user can just delete his Yuku account?
  3. Game...Set....Match! With the exception of the softball thread, I'll see you guys around March of 2009.
  4. Torres has looked rough all season, IMO. If not for the gigantic failures of Gagne, we'd be complaining more. The whole bullpen has been horrible.
  5. Thursdays remaning should be 7:15pm (9/25) and 9:15pm (10/2)
  6. You can't do that in football. It's similiar to law enforcement. You need to make a snap judgement on what is happening at the moment. Can't wait and make sure that it's a toy gun or a real gun. Football is a violent game. Your brain tells you what your eyes saw and you blow the whistle and make your call. Can't stand there with your hands in your pockets and sort it out after the fact. There is no erring on the side of caution because that would give one side an advantage. Each call has to be independent of any other and made quickly.
  7. I absolutely have to agree. As an umpire myself, we are human and we make errors. From his angle with the quarterback's hand and arm shielding his view, it was difficult for him to tell when the ball came lose and therefore he initially ruled an incomplete pass. Then, once he reviewed it, he correctly reversed the call and applied the rules as they should have been. What else can you expect out of the man? I think Hochuli is one of the top 4 officials in all of the NFL (regardless of position) and his conduct and application of the rules in this situation only enhanced that for me.
  8. I don't have the heart to post another long opinion in the many masses of Weeks threads that have popped up over the season. Only to say that thoughts and projections and could-be's are all nice and well and good. Obviously the season's outcome is not Weeks' fault, but if he produces to his potential of .280/.380/.500 with 40 stolen bases and 120 runs, we probably aren't sitting out of the playoffs. I'm tired of waiting around and it's time for the train to leave the station.
  9. Trying to get off the hump for our first win with a 9-man roster as it stands now. See you boys tomorrow. Projected Lineup Chris Becker CF Erin Koth 2B Josh Houle LF Dan Russell 3B Nick Yohanek SS Justin Gumtow 1B Tim Russell RF Luke Barritt P Phil Russell C
  10. I can only listen to so much sports radio now. I dont listen to any other stations besides 1250 however. I stayed away from 9-11 during Pfifer's days because there is only so much Favre hate that one can listen to. I think balancing Sparky with two others is great and I'm listening to "The Big Show" quite often. Doug Russell is great in the mornings.
  11. I seen them at the checkout counter at Farm & Fleet yesterday. They were above the Wrigley's spearmint, to the left of a small booklet of soduku puzzles.
  12. BF.net loses third straight, 9-11 to left out. Is it any surprise that the important date in US history simulatanously reflects the score on said date? Weird. Anyways, the wife took the game recap with her to Florida, so I wont post a summary. I do have the box score however and the season stats linked below reflect so. Tough game #4, but let's have fun anyhow. http://softballtracker.co...ID=&bo=avg&bad=d&po=&pad=
  13. Projected Lineup Chris Becker RC Tim Russell DH Josh Houle SS Dan Russell 3B Kevin Kampa C Matt Rink 2B Brent Grinsteiner LC Nick Yohanek LF Justin Gumtow 1B Erin Koth RF Luke Barritt P
  14. I only problem I have with that is next year won't be about getting over the hump, IMO. It will be about rebuilding. Sheets and Sabathia will likely both be gone and the bullpen needs a major overhaul. 3rd base is still a problem and I reckon the bench will be different in 2009 as well. I think 2009 wont be about trying to make the playoffs, it'll be about trying to stay out of the cellar. For that, Mickey Mouse can come in and coach.
  15. With his success financially and the background of Attanassio, Schlesinger is going no where. You have to draw the line somewhere and I think baseball ops is the place to draw the line. Front office clearing is a bit much...what next, we replace the receptionist?
  16. I feel like Jack Z is somewhat like the Jason Garrett of MLB. I think if we don't make him a GM soon, someone else will snatch him up and take a great mind away from our organization. Let's open it up for discussion. What are your thoughts? I can't find a Jason Garrett of MLB. Are you thinking of football's Dallas Cowboys? I thought I had heard that Jack Z had been offered a GM job over the winter, but turned it down. I think you leave Jack Z right where he is. Sometimes moving somebody up in ranks doesn't translate well. (edit: please avoid political content)
  17. This is horrible. Dale Svuem can't even coach 3rd base. This reeks of desperation and the only thing this solves is the the front office not wanting to have to answer to fans after the season, rather they can say, "well, we tried to go in a different direction before it was too late." Goodbye Playoffs! Goodbye 5 years of hard work and building! We had our shot. Doug Melvin had better be the next head to roll. This organization is essentially giving up and starting over 15 days early.
  18. Josh, Msg Rec'd. Good Luck with everything. Team, that leaves us with 11 players for Tuesdays and 10 for Thursdays, pending everybody shows. While I started the season with 14 and thought that was plenty adequate (if all show, that makes for limited playing time), I did not anticipate losing 3 members just 3 games into the season. If somebody wants to recommend another player and get him on the roster, please do so. See you all on Tuesday.
  19. Left field looked pretty thinned out and rough when I went to a game last week. Yeah, they had just laid new sod in the 3 areas with the OF's typically stand and covered them with that netting type stuff. there are major playoff implications in this decision(which also means lots of $$$ in MLB's eyes), which I hope would mean that MLB is going to make a decision that is the fairest for baseball. All the more reason to move them to Milwaukee. If the MLB is concerned about revenue (and you know they are), what is the sense of having the games in Canada. As I pointed out, only domed stadiums will work and narrowed them down to 2 based upon other major sporting events taking place. Having the games in Milwaukee means a lot more potential revenue to give to Houston to make up for their loss.
  20. Things are too far in motion at Miller Park to back out now. I'd imagine the delay is for allowing the fans, players, athletes, coaches, etc worry about the natural disaster and not where they'll play 3 games of 162.
  21. Arlington is definitely out of the question, always has been, but I agree that these players families come first and their first responsibilities are to their families and their homes. Not enough is going to be able to be accomplished by sunday morning, let alone Saturday night. Yet, they couldn't leave early because it is my opinion that they should be at home with their families or wherever they evacuated to. The options are very limited. With rain in just about every area of the country for Sunday/Monday (the teams dont have anymore off days with which to work in 3 games), you have to use a domed stadium, no question, you just can't take the risk of rain. There are 6 and those are Safeco (Seattle), Chase Field (Arizona), Miller Park (Milwaukee), Rogers Centre (Toronto), Metrodome (Minn), and Tropicana (Tampa). Eliminate D-Backs & Rays due to home games of their own and that leaves you with Seattle, Milwaukee, Minneapolis and Canada. Now you can eliminate the Metrodome because the Vikings will be playing the Colts. Qwest Field is hosting the Seahawks/49ers, so perhaps the hotels are booked up and that is a long way to go anyways. Now that leaves Milwaukee and Canda. My guess is that the Rodgers Centre would be eliminated due to the travel logistics. The Cubs and D-backs dont have a series in Canada this year and perhaps travel visas/passports would not be in order quickly enough? When it comes right down to it, Milwaukee for reasons right or wrong coubld be the best choice.
  22. From your avatar, looks like you work for our grounds crew. If that's the case and you can beat on Brent for the visiting dugout, use that trusty rake of yours and get some trippage in some where.
  23. I'll also apologize for being snarky. As a former law enforcement officer, I hate it when my integrity is questioned as it is the basis for everything I stand for and have worked hard to build. I didn't intend for it to be inside information persay. I honestly thought it was recently reported to the press and was just getting a thread started with the intention of posting a link once I went and looked for one. I kept looking for one as well but didn't find one. What was I supposed to say. "Well I heard it from John Doe who heard it from Jane Doe who heard it from Mark Attanasio? Of course, not the way it happened, but you get the drift. Again, I didn't anticipate it not being already confirmed or shortly thereafter confirmed by the press and again, I apologize. I honestly just wanted to generate some discussion on something that is going to be very instrumental to the story of 2008 Milwaukee Brewers season and MLB. That said, if the Astros are at home, I dont see how they are going to be able to board flights tomorrow? Maybe Sunday morning, but that would be equally rough. This could perhaps really derail the momentum.
  24. Just leave the last five words of the first sentence out perhaps? If I had an internet reference, I would've posted one. I didn't feel it appropriate to post telephone numbers, addresses, email addresses, fax numbers or any of the such so that you could go and verify and feel better about it. I thought that would be extremely unprofessional. When I posted, I had assumed it was already on Jsonline and was waiting for a link and am still waiting so that I can edit my post. Alas, it was club information and not yet public, I'm sorry you don't have a media source with which to verify. I'm sorry that you completely doubt it's validity and will continue to do so. I'm sorry that I was so offended by your rhetoric that I responded in the way I did.
  25. Well Said Doug Jones and even that in spite of the fact that I am not a boo-bird myself. I guess the only difference being that it is the players and their wives choice to continue to read, rather than just leave the computer off. Booing forces them to weigh the effect it has on their esteem and performance.
