  1. If 93 is the number, do you really see anybody but the Brewers getting there? STL would need to go 15-3, Philly 14-2 and Houston 15-2. I think 90 or 91 will take it. I can't see any of those 3 teams having that kind of run and making it to 93 wins.
  2. August 31st Phillies 5.5 GB September 11th, Phillies 4GB 1.5 games gained over 11 days...18 days left. The math seems simple, not much accomplished at that current rate. Looking like too little too late. Just got to hang on.
  3. If you never say another right thing vs all of my opinions, you've hit this one right on the nose.
  4. I agree. LaPorta was the heart and soul of the Brewers? Puhlease. The season was a ton of fun, no matter the outcome. CC Sabathia generated a lot of excitement and could you imagine if this team had 13 starts at this point out of somebody named McClung/Bush instead. 9 wins could be 3 wins and we'd be looking up rather than sitting on top. We suddenly lose 7 of 10 and we aren't a playoff team anymore? Can't win a playoff series? This is typical "the sky is falling" and why I can't understand the mentality of looking at 10 games instead of 140.
  5. Are we talking credit or blame for the year, or just September so far? September Credit- Yost, Sabathia, Sheets, Torres Blame- strike zone, Gagne, Riske, Maddux & Castro Season Credit- Yost and Company minus the blame below Blame- Weeks, Hall, Gagne, Riske, Mota Minus Weeks, the rest are rostered decisions of D. Melvin. But you win some, you lose some there. It seems this post was a rant and therefore, I find it difficult to really put much thought into this. I refuse to subscribe to the theory that the sky is falling, the world is crumbling and therefore blame/credit seems a bit excessive. This is a team, win or lose, every man is accountable. If this team wins a World Series, they wont hand out rings based upon credit and blame. I have to agree with gifted1. I dont want to mini-analyze this 3-7 slump. The only reason that it matters to some is because it's September. If the team had gone 134-0, then proceeded to finish the season 134-28, then who cares? Let's look at the season as a whole rather than dissecting 10 game stretches. This team is tight because it's September, not because of August and September of 2007.
  6. E # at 13 for houston. 6 Brewers wins in 18 games and 6 Houston losses in 19 games just about does it. I'm still not worried about Houston.

  8. http://hosted.ap.org/dyna...HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT The link is on the JS homepage. I'm missing the reference to Steve Young, as stated in the title? Any ideas here?
  9. I'd have to say that is a fair assessment, maybe. I tend to actually play a lot looser, not horribly loose, just looser when playing online because I can watch tv or whatever. I like to play a lot of hands during live action because it's just sitting there staring at each other in between hands. In online play, I can throw away that suited connector because I have something else to do (ie, watch tv, browse email), whereas in live play, I might play that hand more often, even from bad position because I've been sitting there getting nothing but crap pockets and I'm getting bored, therefore actually losing focus and composure playing live games....yet I win better at live games. I don't know that there is a conspiracy theory out there, but I'm getting to be very suspicious of these computer generated programs that run the online sites. It's never more frustrating than watching the following. (9 person sit n go. 3 places pay out. 4 players left. Sitting on the bubble, yet within a big blind value of 3rd place. Raise with KK preflop with good position and watch 3rd place go over the top. Go all in and watch the 3rd place guy show Queen 10 offsuit. Flop comes K 3 4 rainbow...... with a quickness, the turn comes 9 of spades, and then all of a sudden, the computer slows down, way down, almost to a lull if you wish and then the river comes J to bust my set. It's like, why did the computer suddenly slow down prior to the river card. It doesn't happen on the other hands, why this one. It's almost as if it stopped to allow some cronie behind a computer to pick the card he wants so that it finishes the tournament faster so that the gambling company gets more participants moving more tournaments quicker? Is this something I'm making up, or has anybody else experienced this lull in play before the river card to be extremely odd.

  11. I'll buck the trend and say that I am a losing online poker player. Originally, I was very good. I used to use Pacific Poker and my first two deposits I put in $50 and cashed out $500.00 after about 3 weeks of play. So I was net +900 after about 6 weeks. Then the govt. decided to limit transcations with US banks and Pacific Poker shut down. I went over to Full Tilt and had nothing but losses after losses. I've probably lost -900 or so, maybe more. So I'd say in general, minus those first 6 weeks, I've lost, though it's taken me 2 years or so to lose it all back. I think that I play appropriately, I just get a horrible run of cards on most occassions. That said, I am a winning poker player when it comes to live games. Over the past two years, home games and sit n go's at Hard Rock in Tampa, I'd say I'm around +2000 in the past 4 years.
  12. In. Josh is ill. If everybody else shows, that'll still be 11. Let me know so I can let Josh know. If we have guys fall out last minute, it's harder for me to let other guys off the hook who are sick or asked to be absent for a Brewers game, etc.
  13. I would go, but I'm working a double for the Brewers tonight from 4pm until 8am tomorrow morning? Any chance you can stream it to XM?
  14. Officially rained out. Sorry, I had went out for dinner and forgot to post for those that were still holding out with anticipation.
  15. I've got a pair of tickets for tonight, great seats. I'd be willing to meet. Not sure if I feel like going or not. Take 1, take the pair, make offfer, free...whatever.
  16. I have two tickets as well, though nobody to go with :sniffles: I think I'm gonna pass up the game tonight and spend it on the couch watching the start of the NFL season.
  17. I dont see Ryan Dempster for this award. He's doing the same things he's been doing most of his career 3.00 ERA and pitching well, it's just a different capacity. Writers vote, it used to be strictly just The Sporting News award, but MLB picked up their own in 2005.
  18. I think you meant to put that in blue, but I absolutely agree to some extent. This team was motoring along pretty good, then all of sudden you've now got a bunch of crowding everywhere. 10 extra bodies in the clubhouse, the team kitchen, 7 more bodies to take BP time away, etc. I think the play of the Astros had to do more with the losing streak, but you have to wonder if extra bodies makes for a bit of an unneccessary distraction.
  19. That Houston Love didnt take long http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. Ike went to Cat 4 overnight
  21. So um... yeah, who's going to the Brewers game with me tonight? http://www.weather.com/ma...ge.html?from=hp_main_maps
  22. I agree on it not being Hamilton in the AL. Jon Lester should win it in my opinion. Hamilton had a fine season last year with plenty of at bats and appearances.
  23. Your winter is going to absoultely suck. Might I suggest some Prozac so you can make it through?
  24. There are too many record references in there too quote it all, but basically the elimination number is 17. Games back doesn't mean diddly poo at this point. 11 Brewers wins mean the Astros can afford only 5 losses just to tie, not to mention hoping STL/PHIL dont win 15 in the process. Fuhgetaboutit.
  25. I have to believe that making it is being mentally tough for 6 months, not just September. For 5 months, this team has been the 2nd best in the NL when it comes to winning games. I understand that it's painful to watch the team get swept the minute the calendar hits September, but I'd like to stop a minute and look at 140 games instead of the 3 to start the month. If the team goes 5-23 on the month, then maybe it was mental, but I'd have to remind some that this team was below .500 and in dead last nearing the 1st of June. Not 3rd, Not 4th, not 5th, but dead last. Dead last with the #2 pitcher out for the season. They had the resolve and mental toughness to continue churning forward and that has to account for something. They may not advance in the playoffs, but I think experience and mental toughness in winning these games against "playoff type" teams are two seperate things. This team could have easily won 2 of 3 minus a Gagne crap of an inning and failing to execute with plenty of chances on night #2. Minus Bush's blowup inning, they lost 3-2 today. I'd be more apt to call it lack of experience than lack of mental toughness (See Mid-May).
