  1. I echo that .03%. I'm not worried about the Astros. I dont think the starting pitching can win them the 20 more ballgames it's likely going to take. This thing is a 3-horse race and win every loss the Cards and Phillies make, the easier Brewers losses like today are to swallow. In my opinion, It's down to elimination numbers now rather than games back and that number is currently 17. Even if the Brewers only 12 more games going 12-11 from here on out, that affords only 5 losses for the Astros. I just dont see it.
  2. I like to bleed Brewer blue once in a while, but I have to believe I heard total homerism today at the ballpark when I heard a guy explaining that Kapler was the runaway winner for the 2008 NL Comeback Player of the Year award. I just sat politely and listened and thought I'd gauge informed BF.net minds later. So here they are. Here are the top eight candidates in my opinion, in order. 1)Jody Gerut .297/.352/.495 with only 52 K's in 327 atbats and 14 dingers (Jody had not played in the Majors since 2005) 2)Jorge Cantu .274/.322/.463 w/ 23 homeruns, 34 doubles and 75 RBI (only 115 atbats in 2007 and 15 total homeruns since 2005 before 2008) 3)Fernando Tatis .293/.361/.484 w/ 11 homeruns, 12 doubles and 44 RBI (Since 2003, only played in 2006 w/ 56 atbats prior to this season) 4)Rick Ankiel .266/.339/.515 w/ 25 homeruns, 21 doubles and 71 RBI (First full season since 2004, newly converted outfielder from pitcher) 5)Kerry Wood 56 appearances, 28 saves with only 3 losses 72K 15BB 2.81 ERA, 0.98 WHIP (max 22 appearances since 2003 prior to 2008) 6)Jim Edmonds .255/.370/.569 with 16 home runs and 16 doubles in 200 atbats with the Cubs (Had been castaway by SD mid-season) 7)Gabe Kapler .301/.339/.491 w/ 7 home runs as a part-time player (Manager in 2007) 8)Chan Ho Park 43 appearances, 4-3 3.05 ERA, 1.37 WHIP (hurt all of 2007 after leaving in first start) In the AL, I'll have to say Cliff Lee, though he may win a Cy Young as well.
  3. Projected Lineup 1) Chris Becker RF 2) Brent Grinsteiner LF 3) Josh Houle SS 4) Dan Russell 3B 5) Nick Yohanek CF 6) Matt Rink P 7) Justin Gumtow 1B 8) Tim Russell C 9) Luke Barritt MI 10) Erin Koth 2B 2-Day DL Kevin Kampa (Team Suspension for Failed Urine Drug Test) Josh Hayes (Team Suspension for Positive Pregnancy Urine Test)
  4. I agree. This teacher sounds horrible. Do yourself and her a favor and don't banter with her and likely problem solved. It doesn't sound like a debate class, so let her lecture as she pleases, get your "A" and move on.

  6. We won't know until after they determine how many of the full season and 20 pack people take.
  7. Link please!I'd have to type it all by hand off of my interoffice memo. I can do it later when I get home.
  8. Since Bucky/OSU is a night game, it is conceivable that you score one truly amazing Wisconsin Sports day-night doubleheader. Drive safely! Yes, The official schedule shows the NL-A (which is #1 seed) would be the night game and NL-B would be day/twilight game, either a 1:00pm or a 3:30 pm start. A 1pm start could afford peoples to make it to Camp Randall in time. A 3:30 start would atleast be able to watch both on tv. Atleast they wont both be on at 7pm.
  9. Socal you are correct.
  10. I think so, though that ticket office is what is right in the way there. I think they are going to have to eliminate that ticket area.
  11. I can see merit in it also. But I think simply because a guy rushes should have more to do with making it an error than making it a hit. Another example, Hunter Pence hits a Sunday hop to Fielder who sees Pence is husting up the line (opposite of what LaRoche was running, but beside the point). Prince wrongly thinks he has to rush to the bag and runs before getting the ball in his mitt. Instead of picking the ball up and running again, he gives up because "he thinks" Pence will beat him. I'd still give Prince the error on the play. It's an error to rush yourself, an error to drop the ball, an errot to fail to try again. These are all things that Sabathia failed to do, couple that with a slower running LaRoche and this was a no-brainer error to me. I just think the perception that this was "in the hole" or "too far up the line" is a fallacy.
  12. Also, it seems that CC himself knew the play at 1B was going to be close -- that's why he rushed himself and fumbled the ball. Isn't that the error? The error in judgment that the play was going to be close and then rushing yourself when in actuality, you had "all day"?
  13. From the AP Wire SALEM, Va. - The son of Roger Clemens and two other minor league teammates were arrested early Sunday morning and briefly jailed after a disturbance at a restaurant in Salem. In a news release, police said Koby Clemens, Mark Ori and Jimmy Goethals were arrested after police were called to the parking lot of a restaurant. Clemens and Ori were charged with disorderly conduct. Goethals was charged with assault and battery. All three were held in the Roanoke County-Salem Jail before being released on bond. The three play for the Salem Avalanche, which played its final game of the season Monday in Lynchburg. In a statement, the Houston Astros said they were attempting to sort out the circumstances leading to arrest of the three players in their farm system. "Based on the feedback and information we get from the court appearance, we will make a decision as to what disciplinary action will be taken," said Ricky Bennett, assistant general manager/director of player development for the Houston Astros. The police statement said 50 people were in the parking lot of Mac and Bob's restaurant when officers arrived at 2 a.m. Sunday. The owner of the restaurant did not immediately return a telephone message left by The Associated Press. Initial reports of the arrests were by broadcast and print outlets in the Roanoke area. You think somebody started in about his Dad and he just couldn't take it anymore? Another Pro of having Prince Fielder on the team, If somebody makes fun of his Daddy's gambling and treatment of women, he'd join em rather than beat them to a pulp.

  15. I can't recall as far as the NLCS, but I do know that the NLDS is correct, they both start on Wednesday.
  16. That blog looks correct IIRC. I specifically remember that both NLDS games were on that same Wednesday.
  17. It's already been released to the clubs, not sure about the public. If I had a copy in front of me, I'd digress, but I don't.
  18. Opening Night is upon us. Lineup 1) Chris Becker RCF 2) Brent Grinsteiner LF 3) Josh Houle SS 4) Dan Russell 3B 5) Kevin Kampa RF 6) Nick Yohanek LCF 7) Josh Hayes P 8) Justin Gumtow 1B 9) Tim Russell C 10) Luke Barritt 2B Placed on the 2-Day DL Matt Rink (Peyronie's Disease) Erin Koth (Rectal Prolapse) Jamie Siegel (Left Ankle)
  19. I've choked both times. 298 then 299. The first time, I yanked it pretty bad and got an 8 count. The next time, I threw my normal shot pretty good and got unlucky with the 6 pin ringing right around the 10. The house let me keep the pin, pretty cool.
  20. SC guys said that they shouldn't change the call and said that he didn't have the weight of a no hitter on his shoulders. I disagree with this sentiment. You could tell from about the 7th inning on that the Brewers were treating it as a no-hitter and had planned to appeal long before the game was over.
  21. Not to take this off topic, but Hanna is going to be impressive as well, perhaps for the Jacksonville area as a Level 2 Hurricane.
  22. Yes, the explotation of the welfare system and FEMA programs are highly documented. People that made insurance claims and claims for government services that were living in South Carolina at the time, etc are the "victims" in quotation marks that I am referring to. It was not a mistake. The only mistake was not being able to forecast how my research and message would be perceived, and for that I've apologized and apologize again.
  23. I think you are conjecturing something that isnt there. I'd be the last one to "race-bait". In fact, I just said minorities in general, no preference to color, creed, nor nationality. I was half-quoting a FEMA article and statistics released by the Texas govt. Basically stating they have no incentive to return. If I offended anyone w/ my research, I sincerely apologize.
  24. Draft cancelled, league deleted, no genuine interest.
