  1. I always thought it took a lot of skill for him to seamlessly transfer his glove like that. I remember when he got a couple of hits in '99, it was pretty fun to watch.
  2. http://mlb.mlb.com/images/2006/05/28/gSVrMFyx.jpg Break the Javier Valentin curse.
  3. Congratulations to Corey Hart, and all of the Hart and Brewers fans who voted for him. Corey has come a long way in his career and I appreciate seeing his rise to All Star recognition.
  4. I will be attending a funeral tomorrow so unfortunately I can't get in on this, but I wanted to preemptively thank you for being the driving force behind the Mota Relief Fund, and supplying me with a new quote for my signature! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. I'd give him a C. He has been a bit quicker on the trigger this year with pinch hitting and switching out guys in the bullpen. He does however hang his starting pitcher out to dry far too often when that guy is laboring.
  6. We need bullpen help. I was going to question why we were using Shouse now, but it is probably because other than Torres he is our most durable reliever. If we use Gagne or Villa we probably wouldn't be able to use them tomorrow.
  7. DFA. Chris Spurling please. Thanks. Yuck. Bad pitching and bad defense leads to a bad outcome, period.
  8. If our offense wasn't so putrid tonight, we may have needed the Mota Relief Fund. Alas, we may need to send a search party to find our offense instead since it was assumed Mota would give up run(s).
  9. Glendon Rusch is only the second car in the procession of mediocrity we're facing this week. We did beat Redman, but we're still got JDLR and Josh Fogg to go. Hopefully our bats can do something against Rusch soon.
  10. My Brewers confessionals: 1) I was always a fan of Brooks Kieschnick and Trent Durrington. 2) I thought Rafael Roque was going to be good someday (How wrong was I?) 3) I've never been a TGJ guy. 4) The more I am exposed to statistics and how "stats guys" look at the game, the more I realize they're right more often than not. 5) I used to think bobbleheads were lame, now I am thinking about getting a 10-pack next year for all of the bobblehead days. 6) Geoff Jenkins is my all-time favorite Brewer I could come up with more, but six is good for now. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif p.s.: I believe the wave is lame under any and all circumstances. It was fun when I was 10, not so much now. Also, I still believe in Bill Hall.
  11. 15 runs total will be scored, Sheets will have a 23 pitch first inning. This is pretty awesome, thanks! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. Thanks Jayson. Ah, gotta love those Nix's.
  13. No miracle DP's, Rockies. If that's the Pirates, they turn that. lol
  14. That's a great start against a guy who has historically owned us. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. The Mota Relief Fund may need to make an apperance here if we don't take the lead.
  16. If the FSN pre-game show opens with that theme, you are totally to blame SF. I definitely would not put it by them, at all. I'm guessing the trade is announced tomorrow and they don't officially add C.C. to the roster until Tuesday to get one more day of a bullpen arm?
  17. If the WSJ report is true, then the Sexson six-pack trade just grew another leg. LOL It will be interesting to see who the PTBNL is, but I wouldn't feel so bad about letting ZachJack go. Maybe we ended up pulling a Phillies and giving the Indians quantity along with the quality of LaPorta.
  18. I think the probabilities mean as much as the psychological edge does for a team sometimes. When the team has Sheets on the mound you can tell often times they expect to win that game. He's the guy fans, media, and probably even some of the players look to if the team is slumping to pick them up. Hopefully C.C. can have that same effect in a small sample since nothing is guaranteed after the end of this year. I think that is what Melvin, Mark A., and the rest of the Brewers collective are hoping. We face the NL Central a lot in the second half, and I think to a man if we had to choose three pitchers to throw out there, C.C. would be in that three over any guy we have other than Sheets.
  19. I think between TH being on it and ESPN being on it, we're safe. I'm thinking the Indians are just delaying it so they can have their grand press conference tomorrow announcing the deal.
  20. It would be a typical disappointment, obviously. I think the reason so many people are ecstatic about us getting Sabathia is not even 2 years ago we were on the side of a deal where we were giving the big name guy away. People would have said the typical catch-phrases: "same ol' cheap Brewers," "throwing the season away," etcetera. Even when you get a very good player in return if it doesn't help the team right away it is hard for some fans to put that in perspective. I think there would have been a lot of angry posters had we been on the opposite side of this trade, with a few who see the potential in the guys we're sending off.
  21. C.C.'s wikipedia page has changed to reflect his status as a Brewer, so the ink is dry on this deal. This whole thing is pretty awesome. I am definitely excited for his first start. I am sure Miller Park will be rocking.
  22. This is pretty sweet. I wonder what the corresponding roster move is. My guess is Stetter back to AAA, although I wouldn't put it past the Brewers to have Mota come down with an "injury" to avoid DFA'ing him. I'd hope Bush to the pen over McClung based on McClung's success in the rotation, but we'll see how that plays out. I am still not sure how to react to the future being now when I've been told for the past 5 years to wait for the future and it is coming, it is coming. It is finally here and this move is the exclamation point which drives it home.
  23. Even when this thread gets shut down, I think it is WOAH SOLVDD material. The good news for C.C. is no one wears #52, although that may bring back bad, bad memories for some fans of Jose Capellan.
  24. The new TH post definitely makes this seem plausible. Cain is on his way to Huntsville so he's out, Green is probably in, who is the third prospect seems to be the last remaining thing to be hammered out. I'm guessing as someone said earlier Cleveland was probably given a list of guys to choose from and they're in the process of doing that. I wasn't a big fan of this deal at first, but looking at how weak the NL appears to be this year and how we fumbled away a golden opportunity last year it is nice to see us attempting to be a major player this time.
  25. Great job by the bullpen today. Stetter, Riske, Mota, and Shouse got the job done. Congrats to our All-Star representatives and possible All-Star to be. Kudos go out to the offense as well for making an obviously off Zach Duke pay for his poor pitches. Keep riding high boys, keep riding high.
