  1. Even though I know Kendall doesn't whiff a whole lot, it still grinds my gears when after he K's BA is all "Kendall rarely strikes out!" Maybe they'll take Campillo out now. Please? Mercy? Lets hope big Seth can put up a 0 here and keep this close.
  2. I'm not sure if it is more painful for me to watch us try and hit Campillo or Kevin Slowey.
  3. I'm late, but I still want to play. @ Atlanta (3) 2-1 @ Cincinnati (3) 1-2 Washington (4) 3-1 @ San Diego (3) 2-1 @ Los Angeles (3) 1-2 Houston (3) 2-1 Pittsburgh (3) 2-1 @ St. Louis (2) 2-0 @ Pittsburgh (3) 2-1 17-10 it is. 15-12 is a possibility, but with CC and Sheets both throwing (hopefully) against Atlanta, Washington, San Diego, and Houston, that makes those matchups favorable. Obviously a lot can happen between now and then, but just looking at who we've got going the potential "yuck" series could be in LA where we throw Parra, Suppan and McClung/Bush, and the two series against Pittsburgh where we throw McClung/Bush, Soup, and CC. By that time Ned could totally shake the rotation or someone could be traded/injured, but I'll be optimistic and say things will stay status quo. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. Now Ned makes a pitching change? Seriously? Odd, maybe Torres wasn't ready yet?
  5. "If he (Torres) can't hold a three run lead, then you've got a problem." I hope that isn't a jinxing statement, lol. I have faith Torres can get the job done. I'd just hope Ned doesn't try to get cute and get Gagne or someone else some work.
  6. Counsell batting 6th? Wow. I'd almost rather CC bat 6th. We'll see how this works out, though!
  7. St. Louis made no major trades to help their ballclub. The Pirates and Reds have gotten weaker, and the Astros are moving laterally at best. We've still got a chance.
  8. I would have to go with yes, based on the fact the only worse homestand would have been 0-7. I'm sure we've gone 0-7 on a homestand before, but I doubt we had the type of talent this team does on the team that went 0-7.
  9. Well the Brewers offense is sure back on track.
  10. There is that wonderful Brewers defense again.
  11. Russia wages war on emo kids Does it make me a bad person that when I read that article I couldn't help but laugh? I sure hope not.
  12. I was taunted by a Cubs fan today on the way home from work as I had my Brewers hat on. Awesome. Just more reason for me to root hard for the 'crew tonight to get off the mat and lay into Dempster.
  13. I chewed on the game we lost yesterday all day today. While doing that I realized what I think the problem is: we truly lack fundamentals. We don't have many hitters--even our good hitters--who have a strong knowledge of the strike zone and who won't swing at absolute garbage on a regular basis. Our defense as a whole is below average, especially in making routine plays such as turning bunts into outs. Our pitching has come around, but again the defense really doesn't help it and we do have guys who are maddeningly inconsistent with their pitching fundamentals and those who aren't are overworked and thus end up having bad fundamentals as well. When I watch the Cubs and other good teams, I don't see the same errors and inconsistencies that I see so frequently with the Brewers. I also don't think the lack of errors and inconsistencies comes down to natural talent, because I'd put a lot of our guys out there with some of the best in the league as far as raw talent is concerned. The reality of major league baseball is natural talent only gets you so far, having that talent refined and being fundamentally sound is what brings guys to the next level. Until more of our players become fundamentally sound, it is possible we'll never reach the next level.
  14. It's a little late for the hook there, Ned. Not blaming you for Ben blowing up, just sayin'.
  15. It was the most routine 6-4-3 you'll ever see. Rickie just made an awful throw.
  16. Once again defense kills this team. Unbelievable.
  17. It was pretty amazing that they didn't even mound visit Suppan until the lead was gone. Ned stood there in the dugout gritting his teeth like he knew what was coming but he had no control over it. Not to say Suppan gets a pass for pitching like a chump, but he was obviously laboring (or at least doing his best human rain delay impression) and his defense wasn't helping him at all. With that being the case and McClung being ready, it may have made more sense to get the guy with the strikeout potential in there. No fielding needed.
  18. Way to let Suppan blow in the breeze there, Ned. May as well leave him in now, what's the difference between 10 runs and 7, anyway?
  19. Ryan Braun is a beast. A freakishly awesome beast.
  20. Every time I see Ryan Ludwick I think Brady Clark. It must be the goatee.
  21. http://www.fangraphs.com/tgraphs/20070805_Phillies_Brewers_0.png The Brewers couldn't even win on Chris Capuano Bobblehead day last year. That is how bad Cappy's luck was. http://www.homeruncards.com/imagesplayers/berry.jpg Yeah... this doesn't even need a caption. http://mlb.mlb.com/images/2007/04/21/Gpdfqcbb.jpg Greg Aquino failed to cook with his crook. http://espndeportes-akamai.espn.go.com/2003/photos2005/1103/g_jose_capellan_180x250.jpg I think this is the face a lot of Brewers fans made by the end of Capellan's run in Milwaukee every time he approached the mound.
  22. In MVP 05 Ben Hendrickson would always go like 21-2 with a 1.50 ERA for my Triple A team. LOL Bill Hall was unstoppable in early versions of MVP even when he was still a bad utility infielder. Ashley Lelie was one of those guys who became a 99 in two years of Madden his rookie year. He is what I call a "Madden All Star"--guys who are awesome in Madden but suck in real life. Donnell Washington was one of those guys, too.
  23. I'm disappointed Stetter went down over Mota being DFA'd, but I'm not surprised. Mitch will be back sooner than later, he has proven to be serviceable this year. I'm guessing Ned and company were impressed enough with Mota's appearance last night to say his woes have been remedied.
  24. Ah, bad defense. It is sweet when we're not doing it.
