  1. Please tell me Prince is throttling him in the dugout right now.
  2. Per TH: It looks like the tarp is coming off but the time of game isn't being reported yet. Rumor has it the game will start at 9:15 (in Pittsburgh, 8:15 in MKE).

  4. It seems that pitchers found that hole in his swing on the inside of the plate. He's hasn't just looked lost lately, he's looked over matched. I hope that he can get control of those inside pitches and become a complete player, but I'd rather see him work that out in AAA. I'm happy with the trade, I'm of the camp that Lopez is the player you've seen over the last 500 ABs, which I think is an upgrade, especially against LHP. I know that there were a number of player, including Puljos, who really liked having Lopez on the Cards last year. There were a number of fans down here in St. Louis who were baffled by the handling of the situation and would much rather have Lopez around that had to deal with the Adam Kenndy, Aaron Miles, Kahlil Greene offseason fiasco. If he does what the Brewers believe he'll do, the Brewers will be in contention or make the playoffs with Lopez playing well. If that happens, Lopez likely will decline arby to find at least a multiyear deal somewhere else and get some financial security. If not, we have a capable utlity guy to replace Counsell next year. I thought this type of "haul" might have been enough to net both Davis and Lopez, but I guess that was wishful thinking.
  5. My initial reaction to the research was concern about the accuracy of the pitch data. The author himself complains about the noise of the data in previous reserach and how that affects results. My concern is echoed by Keith Law in the comments for that article: It's interesting research, tho. It will be even more so to see that research as pitch tracking becomes more computerized and accurate.
  6. Wiser men than I have statistically proven it so. Enjoy:http://www.sabernomics.com/sabernomics/index.php/2004/09/the-protection-externality-it-doesnt-exist/
  7. Statistically, there is no such thing as protection. Cameron has a better on-base thus far and is great at working counts. I like the lineup as is.
  8. That's not true. Here's his line for the last month: .298/.340/.511/.850, which are all better than his career averages. Up until June 16 he was .207/.288/.322/.610. He has shown every sign of turning it around, it will just be awhile before is season numbers catch up.
  9. it may not be optimized, but I like this lineup better than most lately.
  10. Yes, it does. I believe you need a 90 percent success rate at stealing bases for it to be a positive run outcome for your team over the course of the season.
  11. Didn't know the right place for this, but TH was on the D-list and mentioned that in a conversation he had with Melvin that the GM indicated the Brewers were starting to get "re-excited" about Rogers. I guess that's not too big of surprise. But it's nice to get some confirmation that the Brewers are willing to let themselves get excited about him after all the injuries.
  12. I'm going with Granderson. Pushing it to a triple allowed him to score the lead run. EDIT: for grammar.
  13. I'm not a big fan of trading Hardy midseason, but even I would take Washburn and Bedard.
  14. Please don't. Wynn might be a turd, but he's a Baby Ruth compared to Hohn.
  15. Hawpe was playing RF already, so unless they moved him to LF, he was already out of the game. Actually, that is what they did.
  16. Also the best Taco Bell commercial I've ever seen.
  17. Look at their attendance figures, their payroll and their supposed asking price. It's clear to me that they will be getting rid of Halladay because it's a salary dump whether or not management and ownership will admit it. I think his asking price continues to slip down until it's about what CC garnered, unless they actually consider trading him to the Yankees or Boston which might keep the price higher. If that's really what they want, then yeah, stay away. I don't think anyone will give them that much right now. Teams, even the big spenders, are just too conservative.
  18. To be fair, he did have a .900 plus OPS during the first half of Manny;s suspension, but it did fall off considerably the last 20 games.
