  1. For what it's worth, from TH's blog: http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/50052147.html

  3. I saw an interview that Dennis Krause did with the Bucks GM and they believe Meeks can be a defensive difference maker. Maybe like a Raja Bell in his prime (my comparison, not theirs).
  4. It's an ESPN.com insider article under MLB Baseball Rumors, if anyone is interested. If they want Gamel, Lawrie or Escobar, I say no deal. Anyone else, and I would probably pull the trigger. I think the top propsects are too much for Vazquez, even with his remarkable year, his contract cost, his age and the fact that out of the last six seasons he's only had two above average seasons all makes me a little nervous.
  5. There's something about this trade that just strikes me as happening over the all-star break. I just don't buy that the D-Backs are going to hold out for much for both of these guys. If they keep them, the D-Backs will be forced to offer them arby in hopes of getting picks for them and I just don't think they want to risk having to pay both these guys coming off a terrible season. (They are under contract for a combined $13 million plus next year this year). When San Diego dispatched Randy Wolf (who strikes me as similar to Davis) to Houston last year, the Astros only gave up Chad Reineke to get him. If it only costs a guy who's in the 10-15 prospect ranger, I say pull the trigger. It would settle the rotation situation a little bit, and give us some dept and give us a legit leadoff hitter with an OBS well above .300 would could leadoff against LHP and RHP. If I'm Melvin, I don't do it if they want a top prospect, but I don't think the D-Backs have much leverage here.
  6. Ooooo, I don't know. A big cookie doesn't sound very classy.
  7. Man, nice to see the Brewers be on the right end of the inning-ending double play for once.
  8. It would be great if we Hardy could get a big hit right here and be declared funk free.
  9. Nice game from Yo. He probably won't get the win, but I hope Macha doesn't send him back out there with his spot in the order up and 102 pitches on his arm.
  10. It smacks of a franchise desperate to get talent into its organization. This guy comes off to me as a hopeless turn. It reminds me when the Brewers got Marc Newfield. The Pirates will keep hoping and Lastings will keep disappointing.
  11. Well, that didn't take long. Melvin said they are passing on Backe. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/49614522.html
  12. Sounds like he might need to give Rickie Weeks a call for some rehabbing tips.
  13. Who cares? He took it off, what, two steps from the plate. The only thing that wasn't "Major League" about that play was the Mets defense.
  14. As an inexperienced investor I would not recommend on buying individual stock but going for something like a Roth IRA instead. Regardless, the best advice I've ever received is to invest in what you know. IDon't buy a stock in an industry that you no nothing about just because you got a hot tip. The tipster could be equally clueless on the prospects of the company or be getting a BS line from somebody.
  15. When you're demoted to AAA because you out-turd Elijah Duke, I would say that's an understatement. I wouldn't get anywhere near Milledge if I was a team like the Pirates. I guess that's what makes them the Pirates.
  16. Speizo was on there, but his inclusion as well as Cameron's makes me think if this list is legit, it's not just steroids but amphetamines and other drugs as well.
  17. That's like the who's who list of people I would suspect, so it kind of makes me doubt its validity. Except for one guy: Brent Abernathy? That just made me laugh.
  18. 1 vs NYM (1-0) 4 @ CHC (2-2) Wish Yo was pitching, but still not buying the cubs 3 vs STL (2-1) 3 vs LAD (1-2) 4 @ CIN (2-2) 3 @ PIT (3-0) 3 vs ATL (2-1) 4 vs WSH (3-1) 1 @ SD (1-0) 17-9 24 on the tie breaker.
  19. Sounds like the 2009 version of the Radio Shack Robotic Arm: http://www.samstoybox.com/toys/Armatron.html
