    At 35, DeRosa strikes me as a Kevin Seitzer type. Maybe I'm wrong. We got Jeromy Burnitz for him. Burnitz was a nice player for the Crew but he stikes me a lot like McClung, a younger guy who proved he can play in the majors but lacks the skills to be a true star. It just seems to me that these are the kind of players we traded away in the dark days and we never got anything that great in return, IIRC.

    If the Indians want ML ready pitching, why not Seth McClung? The Indians can't be expecting too much considering DeRosa's age/impending free agency. I think the Brewers can get what they are getting from McClung out of AAA. Plus, correct me if I wrong, but doesn't DeRosa profile as a Type B free agent? So basically next year the Crew either gets a compensatory pick for him or he opts for arby and we have an affordable replacement for Counsel as the backup utility guy.

    That's good to hear. On an extremely unrelated note, I've always wondered what it must be like to be an athlete heading into a surgery like that, knowing that your whole livelihood is on the line. I mean he went from injured to traveling to see a specialist to under the knife in three days. There's not even time to really wrap your head around what just happened to you and the road that lies ahead.

    Brooks was an awesome story and an awesome guy when the franchise needed both. I'm glad he enjoyed Milwaukee and recognized what makes the city so great.

    Gamel hasn't proven that he can hit ML lefties, and as we saw last night, his lack of defense can change the course of a game. We've got plenty of guys in this lineup that pound lefties and we don't need to put a defensive liability out there with Gallardo Bush on the mound Edited: to fix starting pitcher

    On the bright side, all I have ever heard TH and Drew Olsen on 540 say is that Rickie is the hardest worker on the Brewers. If anyone can comeback from this and dominate, it's a guy like Rick. Good luck to him.

    This is a huge bummer as I've always been a weeks fan, despite his early career struggles. Every team has some type of injury they must overcome this season; let's hope this is it for the Brewers. I hope Mat Gamel turns out to be close to the player many on this board expect him to be. I'm pretty sure he will be given every opportunity to play a ton now.

It's arrogant and shows disrepect to the game of baseball and to the opposing team. This is a team that hasn't won anything and yet they act like a bunch of punk kids. I hope baseball bans this. Dont' you agree? Jeff Gordon: They started this deal as a blue-collar sign of solidarity. And, yes, it can rub people the wrong way. If they want to do it at their first World Championship parade, fine.

    Just heard DM on 540 and he said hey will wait until Tuesday to make a move, if needed. But he seemed to indicate that this will likely be a 15-day DL stint, at least. I think you're spot on Joe Pepsi. Melvin mentioned that the Brewers would be facing a number of LHP in Jouston and that McGehee would likely get some more PT.

    At least not reschedule it for two days later so that out of towners can try to unload their tickets. Today would have been a perfect day for a double header with the original game scheduled for noon. This is the third time I've been through this with the Cardinals and it's just so aggravating.

    I'm beyond ticked off about Monday's rescheduling of this game. I can't tell you how many Brewer fans were at the game last night, and I don't know how any of us who can't go to Monday's game are going to unload our tickets that fast. Clearly, the Cardinals and MLB could give two you-know-whats about their fans.

    You're scenario has a major flaw: The actual value of the ball is minimal. No more than what he initially offered HY for it. HY tried to play on the fact that it was SENTIMENTALLY more valuable to him and tried extorting more from him and the Marlins because of that fact. Again, it's not like they didn't offer him anything for it.

    Buy your books used on Amazon.com and sell them used on Amazon.com. If your lucky not to be stuck with a book that changes editions the next term, you will end up only netting a small loss on the books. Almost every college bookstore is a scam.

    I don't think there's anyone on here thinks HY should have just immediately chucked the ball into the Marlins bullpen and said, "Here you go guys." But his embarrassingly juvenile negotiation tactics - asking for bats from other players, tickets to a Yanks-Marlins series in Florida and wearing that stupid Marlins hat to pose as a fan - goes to show he was trying to squeeze the most of his lucky catch. He couldn't have cared less about what that ball means, just what it could get him. The people across the street from us are having a rummage sale. They obviously don't want all that stuff and maybe some of it would mean more to me than it would to them. I'm going to ask if I can just have it. Give me a break. This isn't an issue of monetary value, it's sentimental. If i bought a book from you at a rumage sale, and your kids first grade artwork was in the book, legally it's mine. I bought it. But if you want it back does that mean that I should hold it up until you give me your family car. It's just some kids artwork to me, but it means more to you and your family. Jesus, in reality he should have just handed the ball over, got a picture with him and said congratulations. HY is well within his rights to do what he did. But that doesn't make it the right thing to do.

    Because there's no way in hell that ball means more to HY than it did to Coghlan. There is something called grace and gratitude. Couglan "negotiated" in good faith and was willing to provide him with stuff HE could give him. Ramirez didn't factor into any of this and shouldn't have been involved. IMO, HY is lucky we live in the internet age and that Coghlan and Co. didn't "trade" a couple lumps on the head for the ball.

    It doesn't matter where the other guys are coming from (and I think you're being pretty presumptuous that they're doing it to consciously show boat the other team). They're not going to the middle of the field and stomping on a jersey from the other team or pulling their mascot on the field and beating it up. I don't see the difference between this and shaking each other's hands after the game. They do it, they go to the middle of the field and celebrate as a team. Even the NFL gives guys a pass if it's a group celebration.

    The Brewers had to expect this when they all changed their at bat music to songs from the soundtrack to "Rent" and "Legally Blonde - the Musical." Flamboyant? What a weird choice of words.

    Don't sleep on Prince. He might be squishy, but that guy seems to have a lot of anger in his soul, and he'll throw his weight around. I would not want to be the guy to tick him off.

    OK, I honestly thought that walking a guy like Pujols was a good idea. A la what teams did to Bonds during his crazy years. But that just doesn't play out as an effective strategy from a win-loss perspective? Particularly now when the hitters behind him are much less effective? I'm guessing there's some statistical study of the Bonds era or something else that you're getting at here. If you don't mind, could you share a little more.

    Braun or Hall. It will charge up the crowd and get under the player's skin/in their heads. Game 1 too with Gallardo on the mound, I think, in hopes that it will keep him from throwing inside. I hope The Crew reacts better to TLR's mind games under Macha than they did under Yost.
