    TH confirms http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/37268769.html A reliable source familiar with the negotiations just told me that the Brewers have reached agreement with closer Trevor Hoffman on a free agent deal. It should be announced very shortly. I don't know yet if they settled on the Brewers' initial offer of one year plus an option for 2010 or if they had to guarantee a second year to beat the Dodgers for Hoffman's services. And I don't have financial details yet but I'll get them to you ASAP. So, the Brewers have their closer. And he's baseball's all-time saves leader. He might be 41 but he still converted 30 of 34 saves last year and is the best ever in conversion rate (89%). I'll post more details as I get them. But the deal is done.

    I agree, of course that was what Riske was supposed to be last year. That whole blow up certainly supports Melvin up-and-down reliever theory. Jorge Horrible?Jorgible Julio?

    Ned had to go, although I still am unsure if I think it was the right time to do it. But he did a lot to help get this franchise turned around. He provably never would have won a title in Milwaukee, but I hope folks will look back at his years with the appropriate amount of appreciation for what he accomplished.

    I just got back from talking to my boss and looked at Gameday and immeadley slmmed my fist on my desk when I saw the 4-2 score, assuming the Cubs had scored twice more. Oh, what an awesome feeling when I realized the Brewers had the lead.

    Again, it needs to be pointed out that both Durham and his former coach in San Fran have said for him to do all those things, he can't play on a regular basis. This isn't 28-year-old Ray Durham. Twice a week, Ray's a good option. Any more than that ...

    I literally cannot stomach following these games anymore. The firing of Yost has not had the same effect it's had on some. I will check the score and hope for a win. If CC can get it going in the right direction, maybe that will have be feeling better about their chances. It can't get much worse right now.
