  1. Kudos to RR for sticking with Estrada. I was not expecting him to do that...thought he would've brought in Hawkins for the 8th, but Estrada was rolling. Always good to save Hawkins for another day when you can.
  2. Weeks basically stopped running and Cedeno ran into him. This upset Cedeno since Weeks may have braced for the impact a bit with his shoulder.Things would have been fine, but Cedeno apparently said something as Weeks was starting to walk back to the dugout. Weeks turned around and said something like "come on, man" like Cedeno said something stupid, they start arguing (but nothing too confrontational), and then the benches cleared.
  3. I still love you, Yo, but hanging curveballs to 8 hitters can't happen. Hopefully the Brewers' bats are as fired up as Cedeno's apparently was after that scuffle. Can't remember the last time I saw him hit one that far.
  4. To be fair to Brian and Bill, Marquez has been inconsistent, to say the least. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/zoneplot.php?pitchSel=all&game=gid_2011_05_13_pitmlb_milmlb_1/&sp_type=1&s_type=7 (plot is from the catcher's POV, for those who don't know)
  5. At this point in his career, LaTroy Hawkins shouldn't be expected to throw more than 1 inning/20 pitches. His shoulder needs to be protected. The point was made on an earlier page that the bullpen provided ~4 scoreless innings today. That will win you most games. Wolf's poor outing had ripple effects on the game even after he left. The Brewers needed 5-6 innings out of him today, and he couldn't get there. In hindsight, Russ' point about leaving Wolf in to take his beating doesn't look too bad. This one will sting more because the offense was able to rally to take the lead once Wolf left, but the short start hurt more than anything Roenicke did, IMO. Much-needed off-day tomorrow, and it wouldn't surprise me to see Kintzler DL'ed for a fresh arm. I just hope it's Justin James and not Sean Green.
  6. We. Get. It. No need to include the fact that you despise Randy Wolf with every fiber of your being in every post. It gets repetitive.
  7. Bummer of an ending for Marcum, who looked unbeatable for awhile. Padres just started making contact the last couple innings. Nail it down, Marco.
  8. Hey, the Brewers have won 2 of 3! What bad road trip? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. Can't decide what was more impressive -- Betancourt's glove flip or Weeks barehanding it and firing a strike to first that didn't even make Prince move. What a momentum swing.
  10. Well, it is a Monday night game against the Padres. Without the hype/giveaway, I'm not sure how much this game would draw in walkup sales, especially after what happened on the road trip.
  11. For those that didn't know, it's Prince Fielder's 27th birthday. Yeah, he's still only 27. Sheesh.
  12. A nice reminder that things could always be worse: the Padres have been shut out 8 times, and looking at their lineup, it's amazing they haven't been shut out more. Here's to hoping that this is a good series to get some confidence back.
  13. Weeks will get the brunt of the hate, but the offense as a whole was pretty bad all game long. McClellan got away with a lot. Surprisingly only 5.5 GB after this road trip from hell, though, and for whatever reason they play like a different team at home. Hopefully a homestand against the Padres and Pirates can get the bats going again.
  14. Kyle McClellan is looking like Joel Pinerio out there. Reminds me of those games where Pinerio would shut out the Brewers with 2 strikeouts. He's not really fooling anyone, but everything is being hit on the ground and anything hit hard is right at a defender.
  15. It's been nice seeing the team take more pitches and work better ABs over the past couple days, so at least there's progress there when it comes to working out of the offensive slump. Next step is recognizing the mistake pitches and punishing them. Braun got a hanging breaking ball on that last groundout of his and just missed it.
  16. Doubt that even Roenicke would call for Braun to bunt with nobody on. Odds are he did it on his own, trying to get out of his slump.
  17. Stinks to come out of that with no runs, but there were some pretty encouraging ABs, specifically Gomez laying off a close 3-2 pitch. More innings like that and they'll break through, or at least get to the bad Cards bullpen.
  18. Again, these threads are here to talk about the games and the team. Posts that take shots at other posters won't last long.
  19. The good news is that despite his 2011 numbers, Kyle Lohse remains a not-very-good pitcher, unlike the guys the Brewers have been facing over the past week. It'd be nice to see some aggressions taken out tomorrow.
  20. And only 5.5 GB with a chance to make it 3.5 by Monday.
  21. Well, they are a talented hitting team. And Garcia is pitching really well, offensive issues aside. He wouldn't be wrong if he said that.
  22. This is a really, really bad time for Randy Wolf to regress.
