  1. They want him gone yesterday. Royal Review went on a pretty good rant about Yost the other day.
  2. Still a few interesting undrafted free agents out there. I wouldn't mind the Bucks taking a look at Jacob Pullen, among others. He might be too small and have no idea if he can handle the point in the NBA, but he can shoot.
  3. I really like Tobias Harris. Already really talented with room to grow and sounds like a smart kid who'll benefit from good coaching. Hard to judge him on his freshman season at Tennessee, considering the mess that went on there. Edit: Adding on, I don't really see him as much of a project as others are making him out to be. He can give some solid production off the bench right away. I'd rather have Harris at 19 than Marcus Morris at 10, or whoever else they were being connected with there.
  4. These three-team trade rumors with Charlotte and Sacramento are almost too good to be true. From Chad Ford: Unloading the Maggette AND Salmons contracts?! This is like Christmas. EDIT: Ford corrected his report -- Bucks don't get the 9th pick, but do get the 19th.
  5. Right now, I love the idea of a trade, mostly because I don't really like a lot of the names associated with the 10th pick. It's hard to tell what "10th pick money" is going to be with the CBA up in the air, but considering the talent difference between pick 10 and pick 23 isn't going to be that great this year, I'd be perfectly fine with moving back.
  6. 1-2 in Boston isn't terrible, but it seems worse after what happened in Chicago. Wakefield's knuckleball was nasty today -- he could actually control it -- and Yo just couldn't locate anything in that first inning. At least watching Gomez flail at the knuckler was good for a few laughs this afternoon. I can't help but wonder if the series would look any different if Marcum didn't get hurt in the first inning of the opener, but the Red Sox are obscenely hot right now...I think they've won something like 13 of 15. It would've been nice to build up a lead in the division with the Cardinals slumping, but who knows what happens now with Pujols' wrist.
  7. Jungmann hasn't looked all that sharp after the 2nd inning or so, but like Law also said, plenty of good pitchers got touched up today. Sonny Gray got knocked around pretty good, and he's the guy most people were upset the Brewers passed on to take Jungmann.
  8. The Brewers' lineup looks ugly at first glance, but to be fair, Boston's 6-9 isn't looking so hot today, either. Also not many other lineup options facing a LHP. Morgan and Kotsay can't start against LHP, and Wilson is only in to give Weeks a day off defensively. Only real gripe is Kottaras starting against a lefty, but at least he's hitting 9th. Who knows, maybe he'll surprise us in his return to Boston.
  9. If he's on the DL, he'd be on a different schedule than everyone else. It sounds like the Brewers want him to get used to the schedule of getting enough sleep, then getting to the park to prepare to play every day. Of course, it could be argued that Triple A is a worse place for him to do that than in Milwaukee, with the worse travel accommodations and longer road trips...that's what makes the entire situation so murky.
  10. From the postgame press conference on FS Wisconsin: Braddock is doing well with what the club's been working with him on regarding his sleep disorder, but he's been showing up to the park late. They're sending him down to help him "balance things out" when it comes to dealing with the sleep disorder and playing baseball.
  11. I felt good for their fanbase when they finally won a World Series last year, but it certainly does seem like the winning has brought out some of the idiots (always does, I guess). Scott Cousins was actually receiving death threats from Giants fans after the Posey hit. It is nice to see Hall stick up for Prince in that article, though.
  12. Yes. Feel free to keep using this thread to talk about the Brewers' picks from the first 5 rounds, but use the 6-20 thread for picks made in those rounds, just so we can keep things organized.
  13. Blue Jays popped Norris early today. Can't remember if it was a 2nd or 3rd round pick, though.
  14. Bradley has a career ERA over 4 1/2. I'm not sure why some think his stuff is so good. If he has decent stuff why doesn't he use it to get people out? Top pitchers dominate college baseball, he hasn't.He struck out 106 in 98 innings playing in the ACC.
  15. I'm not too crazy about the Jungmann pick at this point, but I was pleasantly surprised with Bradley. I can't complain too much when a guy generally considered a Top 5 talent falls to you at 15.
  16. The #7 pick was compensation for the D'Backs not signing Barret Loux after drafting him last year. A bit of controversy because some think they took Loux knowing his shoulder was shot.
  17. To be fair, bonus demands are going to be insane this year because it's likely the last year players will be able to do so with the new CBA coming up. Might as well squeeze all the juice out of the orange. It goes both ways, though -- many teams are going to be willing to spend more, too, because it's likely the last year to do so.
  18. I mean, I can't get too mad at Zambrano. If I looked around and saw Darwin Barney, DJ LeMahieu, and Tony Campana, I'd think I was in Iowa, too.
  19. Fix the free agent compensation system. I'd probably just throw out the idea of sandwich round picks, at least between the first few rounds. The Pirates were the worst team in the league last year. There's no reason why the Tampa Bay Rays should pick 10 times between the Pirates' 1st round and 2nd round picks. If you still want to use the protected "1st round + supplemental" format, don't start the sandwich picks until after the 5th round. Let the league's worst teams have a chance at rebuilding through the draft.
  20. Right on time, the annual Carlos Zambrano June Meltdown!
  21. In hindsight, I probably would have had Estrada warming earlier. Narveson was cruising through 5 innings, but it's a hot and humid day in Miami and he has a history of running into trouble by the time he gets to the third time through the order. Not sure I understand the "replace Narveson in the rotation" talk, though. Calls for that must be venting about the way things turned out, because as far as 5th starters go, he's above average.
  22. Smacked in the head by the pinch hitter's backswing.Wasn't exactly nicked, either.
  23. They can't get to that roofed and air conditioned stadium fast enough. It's a scorcher in Miami today, and everyone is camping out under the upper decks trying to get some shade instead of sitting out in the sun.
  24. To be fair, it looks like ESPN gets their previews from STATS LLC. But yeah, some proofreading would be nice. Goodness gracious is that lineup ugly, but at least the top 6 should hit, right?
