  1. I'll take runs any way the Brewers can get them. I don't care if it's a series of drag bunts or 500-foot moonshots. It seems to me, though, that a lot of the complaints about the Brewers relying "too much" on home runs is after a few solo home runs, not after a 2 or 3 run home run. I'll agree with the sentiments earlier in the thread that the problem is not that the Brewers can't manufacture runs, it's that they're unlucky in that their high OBP guys are also the guys hitting the solo home runs.
  2. Roy Oswalt vs. Ted Lilly and Ben Sheets vs. Rodrigo Lopez tomorrow. I like the Brewers' chances of picking up a game tomorrow.
  3. Sheffield is now saying that he has nothing against Jeter and that he's one of his best friends in the game. He didn't deny that he had issues with the Yankee organization and Joe Torre, though. Apparently things weren't "first class" there like he expected them to be.
  4. I hate to say it, but come August 1st, if not sooner this team won't be in 1st place anymore. While I'm tired of people making predictions about when this team will fall out of first place, I'd be shocked if they didn't give up the division lead at least for a few days. The Cubs are a decent team and it's pretty damn hard to maintain a division lead from April until October.
  5. Ugh. Just one of those games where the location's not there for anyone on the staff.
  6. Wow...just wow. Prince is s-t-r-o-n-g.
  7. I know this is sort of delayed, but I was somewhat annoyed during the futures game when they said JJ had an average infield arm. They said Reyes had a great arm and cited how he made off balance throws a lot. So I guess having bad footwork means you have a good arm and if you get to balls and have time to set and throw you have an average arm. That kinda of annoyed me, too. When they showed highlights that supposedly show Reyes' "superior" arm compared to Hardy's "average" arm, they were making the same exact play and threw out the runner at first by almost exactly the same distance. Of course, it's important to remember who was comparing the two -- Steve Phillips, who won't hesitate for a second to remind everyone that he was the one who "discovered" and signed Reyes.
  8. I'd love to be around the batting cage for some of his instructing..."Now Rickey knows nobody here gonna be better than Rickey, but listen to what Rickey says..."
  9. This isn't exactly the 3 Tribe teammates, but it's the same general idea with Michael Young, Manny Ramirez, and Torii Hunter: http://images.sportsline.com/u/ap/photos/FXPB37071023_lower.jpg I thought it was a cool photo.
  10. This story would only be better if the Cubs had Mark Prior climbing through the air vents to retrieve any confiscated bats.
  11. A friend of mine is actually an M's fan and he said that Ichiro is actually fluent in English. He doesn't speak it during national television interviews, though, because he doesn't want to be misunderstood or mistranslated when the interview airs in Japan. If you actually watch the interview again, you can tell he understands the questions by looking at his body language -- the nodding with the question like he understands, the laughing at the bad jokes Zelasko made, etc.
  12. Even in an All-Star Game the Brewers find a way to screw up...this team is hopeless!!
  13. "Prince Fielder let down Jake Peavy, David Wright did not." I hate you, Joe Buck.
  14. Pretty cool Willie Mays ceremony...reminds me a lot of Ted Williams in Boston in '99.
  15. Haha...Prince in the Homer Simpson thing was cool. "David Ortiz...CC Sabathia...Prince Fielder...now *those* are some athletic bodies."
  16. I'm sure he knows some English, but he probably isn't comfortable speaking it on camera. I'm personally tired of the "If you're in America, speak English!" crap, but maybe that's just me.
  17. I'll give Barry credit...it seems like he's been a lot nicer to the media this year. I still think the guy's an arrogant jerk, but at least he's not lashing out at anyone who asks a question this year.
  18. Looks like Rod Gardenhire was a poor pitching choice for Morneau...he couldn't really get anything to really pull. Bummer that Prince hits 6th out of 8...he might not get up for another hour yet.
  19. They're starting to play like they just want to get out of there. Too bad it looks like the Bucs will end up blowing the game to the Cubs.
  20. Just a gut feeling, but it's probably going to take more than 2 runs to win this game. Here's to hoping Cappy doesn't give the lead right back again.
  21. Ugh...not much they could do about that double play bunt. For those who can't see it, Cappy tried to bunt a ball high and tight, and fell backwards while popping up the bunt. Redding let the ball bounce before picking it up and throwing it to second to get Counsell who had to wait and see if Redding caught it, and the Nats threw over to first to get Cappy, who had no chance of getting down the line in time. Just a bad luck play overall.
  22. Just don't suck, please! Two pitch leadoff outs against Tim Redding make me sad. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
