  1. When's the last time a pitcher was booed this mercilessly? Gagne? Turnbow?
  2. Let's make it a couple more runs and make this Soup's Last Stand.
  3. Braddock could go a couple innings, Villanueva and then Axford. I thought about that, too, but then your bullpen is starting to look awfully short for tomorrow's game in Florida (don't know if Villa and Ax could go three days in a row if they're used today). The bullpen is between a rock and a hard place right now with Capuano being held off to presumably start Thursday.
  4. Well, that certainly could've been a lot worse. Let's get that run back...hopefully Dickey's knuckler isn't as effective today as it was against the Phils.
  5. Interesting lineup today, to say the least. I can't say I was expecting it, but it is nice to see Macha put an emphasis on putting someone with a higher OBP in the #2 spot lately, and with Braun hitting 2nd it makes sense to move the pitcher up to the 8th spot. I'm not expecting much against a knuckleballer today, so we'll see how it goes.
  6. Some insurance runs would sure be nice. I don't feel like finding out if Trevor Hoffman's returning to the closer role on a night where the Mets are hitting everything.
  7. This is absurd. At this rate he might be able to fetch a pretty solid young starter in a trade, which would be a dream scenario. I love this offense and would hate to see what this team's output would be without it lately, but his value is never going to be higher.
  8. I actually get WPIX on Dish Network and was wondering what the Mets announcers were saying. Their exact words were "Does Macha not understand that Nieve is going to be pinch hit for!?" They just couldn't believe he didn't have that foresight. Oh well, at least it worked out. Doesn't make it the right decision.
  9. Even if they don't get any runs here, at least they're making Nieve work hard. Up over 30 pitches already, and he's supposedly only on an 80-pitch limit tonight.
  10. Lucroy's getting the start tomorrow with Randy Wolf pitching. He's apparently being paired with Wolf and another starter, so if it's not Parra it's probably going to be Bush or Narveson. Assuming they stick with that plan, I can't complain too much. If it's only Wolf he's paired with or if they go away from the pairing of pitchers completely, then I'd be right there with you worrying about this turning into another Gamel situation.
  11. Interesting look with the lineup tonight -- Kottaras and his insane walk rate hitting second tonight. I like the idea (lineups for both teams have been edited into the lead post).
  12. Per Tyler Barnes on Twitter, Claudio Vargas has been DFA'd. And there was much rejoicing.
  13. This may be the greatest day in the history of the sport. Makes me curious if Hall pitched much in high school. The motion looks more natural than, say, Jeff Cirillo pitching against the Brewers in Arizona.
  14. Makes sense...weren't the outfielders his responsibility when he was on the coaching staff? I still can't get over Yo's outing tonight. It's one thing to do it against a random team like the Astros, it's another thing to do it against Johan Santana with everyone in New York watching. This may have been Yo's coming out party to the national media, if he hasn't had it already.
  15. Well, he didn't bother to check the lineup until multiple people told him he was wrong in the comments before the game, so why should he get the final score right?
  16. Corey Hart wears AWESOME at night, indeed. 10 HR now after having 12 all of last year. Incredible game.
  17. Box score says Jeff Nelson is the home plate ump tonight. Hopefully Braun shows a little more patience up there than he did yesterday. Gotta make the bullpen get you out, not the other way around.
  18. That 7 IP, 12 K performance in San Diego this year was pretty stellar, too, in terms of dominating efforts.
  19. Surprisingly, lefties are hitting Johan better than righties this year: .254/.294/.429 for LHP as opposed to .239/.289/.341. Not sure Macha would trust Lucroy against Santana regardless of the splits, though.
  20. He was up to .275 at the start of the Houston series, which isn't too far off his career .282 average. Still, it's hard to criticize him for not hitting when he's not getting anything to hit. At least he's becoming more and more selective instead of swinging at the stuff out of the zone. Thankfully, Casey's been making teams pay for pitching around Prince.
  21. I wonder how Witrado got the lineup wrong the first time -- it almost seems like he just assumed what the lineup would be and posted it without checking, based on what he wrote the first time around.
  22. From the 5/26 IGT: Mission accomplished. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  23. Fielder hitting third, Braun fourth, according to MLB.com's Jordan Schelling. Interesting look against Santana. Edit: But Anthony Witrado says it's the same lineup as usual. Who's right? Guess we'll find out when the game starts...
  24. For those that haven't noticed, the Mets are coming off a sweep of the Phillies in which they shut them out in every game -- that's 27 straight scoreless innings. Their pitching is hot, to say the least.
  25. Move is retroactive to May 23. Macha actually said before the game that they were hoping to avoid putting Gerut on the DL just in case he was ready to come back before the 15 days passed (which seems to be the case with Edmonds at the moment), but I'm going to guess something about today's game changed the minds of the front office.
