  1. Cameron's AVG/OBP/SLG in some of the situations being discussed: RISP: .233/.368/.370 (185 PA) Runners On: .247/.363/.393 (300 PA) 2 outs, RISP: .232/.391/.362 (87 PA) Late & Close: .239/.386/.358 (83 PA) High Leverage: .222/.351/.370 (131 PA) Medium Leverage: .263/.354/.490 (223 PA) Low Leverage: .253/.332/.461 (271 PA) I think some people have different definitions of "clutch" here. Some may think of it solely as getting a base hit to bring a runner in, while others may see it as simply keeping the rally going by not getting out. Cameron has never been a great contact hitter, but those are some pretty damn good OBP numbers despite the low BA (and that's ignoring the fact that we're trying to declare someone as clutch or not based on only 80-90 PA's).
  2. At least when Joel Pineiro starts you know the loss will be done with in less than 3 hours. Yeesh. Go get them in Colorado, even though I'm probably going to spend the off day having nightmares of what this pitching staff will do in Coors Field.
  3. You're not the only one...appears to be an issue with the FSN video feed.
  4. Ugh, Pineiro. 3-0 with a 3.35 ERA in 6 career starts against the Brewers. 1.017 WHIP, with just 6 walks in 40.1 innings. This game may be done in 2 hours if Narveson can keep the ball on the ground again.
  5. Bush didn't have great stuff, but the Angels weren't very patient and couldn't square up on him. Lots of ground balls to keep Escobar and Counsell busy, and no real scoring threats until he finally gave up a run in the 8th. It wasn't a dominating start by any means, but it was definitely low-stress.
  6. I think we should start a petition to make the Brewers the 5th team in the AL West at this rate. Talk about two of the most unexpected performances this year. Two great nights of offense, two great starts from Randy Wolf and Dave Bush, and two nights of the bullpen actually keeping the blowout intact. Hopefully Narveson has another good start tomorrow...the Texas outing was certainly encouraging.
  7. Wow, Angels fans booing Casey like he kicked their dog. Apparently they still think the slide was dirty, even though the Angels are saying they had no problem with it.
  8. Indeed. Showing up a division rival is not classy. I'd still like to see how Suppan shapes up against a better hitting team. He'll get either Oakland or Toronto in his next start, with Toronto having the advantage of using the DH. I'd love to see how Suppan would do against Toronto, who leads all of baseball in HR. You really can't make any proclamations about his start tonight. It was 4 innings, he was pretty lucky to get out of the first inning without any damage, and he's had good 4-inning stretches before with the Brewers. I feel like all of the inevitable "SEE! IT WAS RICK PETERSON'S FAULT!" talk (across the web, not saying it'll happen here) is going to drive me nuts until his next start.
  9. The bad throw to second was the main culprit for the injury, in my opinion. A good throw lets Aybar leap over McGehee completely or at least do a better job of avoiding the slide.
  10. Villanueva is warming, so I don't think so. They'll probably just let Villa pitch the last two innings with the score the way it is. Feels good to be on the other side of one of these for a change.
  11. Oh man...how did that roll out of Hunter's glove? Talk about a lucky bounce, but I'll definitely take it.
  12. Issues with Lucroy in-game aside, he's never blamed him for the starts he caught. The past few starts, Wolf has flat-out said "I sucked," and I'm not paraphrasing. I don't think he has an issue looking in the mirror.
  13. Judging by the way the first couple times went, I wouldn't count on Lucroy catching Wolf again, even if Lucroy somehow becomes the starting catcher.
  14. That just might happen. The Mariners are putrid. I almost can't believe that the Cardinals are demoting Adam Ottavino to clear room, but then again, I just saw his last team let Manny Parra twiddle his thumbs in the bullpen while watching Soup get lit up in the rotation. It's unbelievable how many young pitchers are being denied chances while more than one club lets him take up starts.
  15. They could always trade Fielder after this season. Plus, isn't it the goal for any major league team to get to the WS? By trading for Fielder this season they would accomplish that. They would be the clear favorites.I think the Mark Teixeira situation fits (again) when addressing this. Brewers fans are going to be demanding that the Brewers get the equivalent of what the Rangers got for Teixeira. Any team thinking about possibly renting Fielder for the stretch run and flipping him this offseason or at the deadline next year are terrified that their return will be as bad as what Atlanta got for Teixeira. Further hurting the Brewers' chances of getting a deal like that is the fact that Teixeira was a lot more valuable than Prince will ever be -- Tex also has the reputation of playing Gold Glove-caliber defense, while Prince is DH-only. Do the Rays want to make the World Series this year? Sure. But the way they've been playing without Prince this year, I'm not sure they think they need him. The only context I can see the Rays being interested in a Prince/Hart package is if they see them as replacements for Carlos Pena and Carl Crawford, but even then, the Brewers duo will be more costly to have under contract next year and they'd only be in town for one more year. The Rays are simply too smart and too conservative for that.
  16. I love the fact that the park has been so full for an interleague series, but I just wish it wasn't full of idiots doing the wave in the 8th inning when your team is losing. It makes it seem like Brewers fans don't care about what's going on down on the field.
  17. Ken Macha really needs to stop intentionally walking the bases loaded with two outs, especially when the hitter being walked is hitting .200. If you want to be careful with the guy knowing the pitcher is up next, fine. Just don't give away the AB. It's beyond frustrating at this point.
  18. I was almost thinking the same thing. I'm happy Davis is feeling better because I'm sure it's been a scary situation, but the starting pitching has seemed to be very good lately, especially from the young guys. I'm worried that Manny Parra's going to end up getting yanked out of the rotation again, which wouldn't be fair with the way he's pitched the last couple outings.
  19. For what it's worth, FanGraphs has him hitting 23 HR and 76 RBI the rest of the season, for season totals of 33 and 98 (before today's solo HR). That'd be a very solid year, although a bit disappointing after last year's numbers (which may well prove to be his career year).
  20. Bummer. It's a shame Ron Washington doesn't respect his closer enough to let him lose the game. Oh well. It's Yovani Day tomorrow...get 'em then.
  21. If Feliz stays in, there's really no reason to swing until Feliz gets 2 strikes on you. He has no idea where that ball is going.
  22. It's appeared to be very tight. I'd partially blame Manny's first inning struggles on that, because there were a few pitches that looked very good that were called balls.
  23. Lucroy starting for the third straight day...interesting, to say the least. I wonder if Kottaras is falling out of favor with Macha due to the poor D, or if he just needs an extended break.
  24. Harden back out there despite throwing 107 pitches the first 5 innings. Gotta love this new Rangers pitching philosophy.
  25. Looks like Lucroy's throwout preserved the tie, at least. Hopefully his defense the past couple days encourages Macha to give him more of a chance. I like Kottaras' bat, but you have to imagine his defensive problems are starting to drive Macha a little batty.
