  1. Well I think we have our fundraising idea for the next year.
  2. I'm disappointed it took until page two for someone to post a Chris Hansen picture. Of course, Mr. Hansen has his own problems to worry about these days.
  3. Molina not in the Cards' lineup tonight. Could just be because he's due for a day off after playing yesterday (and playing poorly), but it's always possible he chooses to take the suspension now, sit out the 4 games of this Marlins series, and only miss 1 game against the Brewers. EDIT: Yup, that's what he's doing. No appeal, so he'll be back in time for the final two games of next week's Brewers series.
  4. Cardinals' bullpen is toast after the past couple nights. They could really use another inning out of Jackson today, even though the results have been bad.
  5. My guess on Molina is somewhere around 7 games, with it being reduced to about 5 after an appeal. Cardinals fans will complain about Bud Selig's pro-Brewers bias no matter what the decision is, even though he'll have nothing to do with the suspension.
  6. Spitting in an ump's face is always a good career move. Ask Robbie Alomar how long it took to live that one down.
  7. Hitting cutters that don't cut has to be cheating, too, right?
  8. Dotel looks...plumper...than the last time I saw him pitch.
  9. For what it's worth, from Yahoo!'s Jeff Passan yesterday (in 3 separate tweets), when news of the deal first came out: Though to be fair, a corpse would likely be an upgrade over Theriot or anyone else they were playing at short.
  10. I would DEFINITELY be sick of it. But it comes with the territory of being a beat reporter. Even if I'm sick of it, I'd learn to ignore it when people keep asking the same thing over and over. This is one time of the year where I can't blame TH or any other beat writer for getting a little grumpy with answers. Every dumb trade rumor like "Some guy with 27 followers is reporting Gamel for Alex Rios...is this true?!?" gets heaped on them, and after 50 people tweet you the same questions it probably gets grating. With that said, it could probably be handled a little better. For the most part, people are just curious and don't know any better. There's been a few other situations where people have asked follow-up questions (whether it's about roster moves or post-game RR quotes) and he's responded with something like, "what do you want us to do, waterboard him for answers?" People are just hungry for information, and there aren't that many reporters with access in Milwaukee.
  11. The $1 thing wasn't just Witrado. McCalvy tweeted it following the trade as well.
  12. I think we see Green or Farris up until Melvin can find a deal for someone like Carroll or Barmes in a couple days. The problem is now the Brewers are going to be seen as desperate, so those guys are going to be more expensive than they were a few days ago.
  13. ESPN's GameCast struggles with high/low pitches, I've noticed, which is a shame because it's a cleaner look than MLB.com.
  14. 3 walks, and he had a few innings where he really struggled with location. His stuff has been better in other starts this year, but luckily tonight, the mistakes weren't getting hit very hard. Only one I can remember is the Pena double off the wall that was nearly another HR surrendered to a LHB.
  15. They announced in the press box that Weeks is headed to the hospital for diagnostic tests. My guess is that they're looking for ligament damage before it swells up too much.
  16. Can't speak for him, but if Dempster doesn't catch that, he's not walking off the field on his own. Hate to see things like that happen.
  17. The best part is that the Mariners are about to lose their 17th straight and they're still 10 games better than the Astros.
  18. As long as he's not causing problems in the clubhouse, I couldn't really care less what he's gesturing to opposing fans. Some people have started comparing him to Milton Bradley which is totally off base as far as I'm concerned. Bradley was despised by his teammates. You'll have a hard time finding anyone who will say something bad about Morgan as a teammate.
  19. The Brewers started out 9-19 on the road. They're 12-14 since that point after Friday night's win. That's some pretty average road play over the past couple months. If they can keep that up, they'll be in the thick of things until the end.
  20. He is from Cuba.I know that.....but usually vets can speak some English.I believe it's been said he understands English, but it's one of those situations where he isn't comfortable speaking it, at least in an interview format. Don't want things misunderstood/lost in translation.
  21. It does make a little sense to sit Braun if they're still easing him back in, considering he just played back-to-back full games, with one of them being an extra-innings game. Cain's a tough righty, it's the first game in a new city on this road trip without getting a day game yesterday, etc. It's just disappointing to see Kotsay hitting third, but as was pointed out a few days ago (before Gomez got hurt), there aren't many options. The good news is that the Giants offense struggles to score, anyway, so the Brewers (hopefully) won't need to outslug them to win like they did in Arizona.
  22. Not as good as my all-time favorite, Raul Ibanez. http://i27.tinypic.com/28akex2.jpg
  23. Sounds like Brett Carroll, if you believe his brother. Imagine defensive flexibility is the big thing working in his favor.
  24. Would've been a nice trade target, but who knows if Houston would have dealt him within the division. Stoffel looks like an interesting relief prospect, at least. You know Ed Wade loves his relievers.
  25. To be fair, Lucroy isn't exactly hot right now, either, and really hasn't been for awhile. I really have no issues with the lineup, but the Braun situation is irritating. If he's not healthy enough to play a whole game, he shouldn't be risking further injury by playing at all. And if he's not going to play at all, the team shouldn't be forcing itself to play a man short every night. The team could withstand a Braun 15-day DL stint, but every time they use him as a pinch-hitter or let him play 5 innings they're wasting a day they could've retroactively had him on the DL. Now they're stuck in a situation where he might heal before 15 days are up so they don't want to make the move.
