  1. Tom Gorzelanny Terrorizes kids at night Boogeyman pitcher
  2. I agree, I let just about anything slide because it's not worth it. About the only time I can't help myslef is when someone says Prince Fielder is having a bad season. We all have our breaking point.I'll third this. For me, the breaking point is when the casual fan says that Tony Gwynn Jr. should be playing every day and the Brewers should flat-out release Mike Cameron because he strikes out so much. The best one I've heard so far is the idea that Yost should start Braun, Gwynn, and Kapler in the outfield every day. I don't usually mind casual fans, though...for a lot of people, it's impossible to watch an entire baseball game, so if they even have a passing interest, it's a start. Hopefully they'll grow to take a much more involved interest in the team, but I totally understand that not everyone has the time to do so. I can handle the harmless questions and suggestions to an extent, but I can't stand pointless booing. My biggest fear about this season is that once Sheets and Sabathia leave via free agency, they'll get booed out of Miller Park the first time they come back with their new teams just because most people will perceive them as being greedy. For as many good memories these guys are providing us, I would hope that they're treated well in Milwaukee long after they leave.
  3. At least this ridiculous late-inning comeback by the Cubs benefits the Brewers somewhat by knocking the Phillies down by a half game. It's crazy how they always seem to come through in the late innings, though (while I'm sure they say the same things about the Brewers and their 38 wins in the last inning or whatever it is).
  4. IMO, Braun's only hope would be to catch Ryan Howard for the HR crown and stay among the league leaders in RBI. That would be enough to get him a lot of votes from the writers who don't look at anything past counting stats and batting average. He's still not an elite player, though. Even though he's done very, very well this year, I still don't have confidence in him coming up in a pressure situation. He's struck out more than Rickie Weeks this season and chases more garbage pitches than anyone else on the team. Until he improves his plate discipline, he's more likely to be Alfonso Soriano than Albert Pujols.
  5. Villanueva Takes up one line of haiku Albert Pujols cries
  6. Day off after a loss Nothing to do but go vent Albert Pujols sucks.
  7. I remember reading somewhere that while the Rays still haven't drawn well at the Trop, they have one of the highest local TV ratings in baseball, right up there with the Brewers. It seems like most fans would rather follow the team on TV than have to watch a game in that dump, and I can't really blame them. I would think (and hope) that this would change during the playoffs, though.
  8. Keep the camera pointed at the bullpen...it's high comedy. Shouse, Villanueva, and Riske playing rock-paper-scissors; then McClung joining them and they start tossing rocks or something at a chair. Gold/
  9. The best part was "the best fans in baseball" pretty much abandoning their team in the later innings. There was barely anyone left in the park to give the Bronx cheers in the 9th inning. As far as tonight goes, my hopes for the 2-game sweep increased dramatically when I saw the lineup LaRussa is putting out tonight: SS Izturis CF Mather 1B Pujols RF Ludwick 3B Glaus C Molina LF Stavinoha P Wainwright 2B Lopez
  10. I know AOL-speak isn't allowed, but...LOL. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Let's get a couple more just to be safe. You can never have too much Mota protection.
  11. Keep feeding the run differential, guys... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif This is probably the most fun I've ever had watching a game against the Cards. Usually I spend all 9 innings worrying about a late-inning implosion.
  12. Even blind squirrels find nuts three times in a game every once and awhile, right?
  13. Quite the opposite. He kept his head up long enough to finish the follow-through of his swing, then put his head down and literally sprinted towards first base. He probably could've afforded to look at it, though, since it nearly hit the back wall of the bullpen.
  14. Anderson: "The Brewers waste a leadoff double." Well that'll happen when the batters behind that leadoff double are Jason Kendall, Ben Sheets, and Ray Durham. Can't win 'em all...hopefully the middle of the order can put up another run next inning. A 1-2-3 inning by Sheets would be really nice.
  15. I just really hope Sheets wins tonight so the guys on the radio can stop playing psychologist. Hopefully an extra day of rest will help him, since he seems to be wearing down from not being used to throwing this many innings. I don't really have a problem with Weeks getting an extra day off -- Durham needs a start here and there to stay sharp, and same with Counsell after Hall got all the starts against the Bucs. At least Counsell's not hitting 6th ahead of Cameron anymore, but that Counsell-Kendall-Sheets bottom third is a pretty big black hole. Hopefully Braun can continue his tear against the Cards, and he doesn't get Prince hit in retaliation again.
  16. Jason Kidd is washed up...Stockton would've destroyed him. Dwight Howard is a beast, but I don't think he'd be able to handle Robinson and Ewing in their primes. I think it's hard to compare because the NBA game has evolved a lot since the early 90's, from a jump-shooting league to a drive-the-lane league (ironically, you could probably credit Jordan with that). Since they're from different eras, they play completely different games. If you use today's NBA rules, I think the Redeem Team would likely win, but in International rules, the original Dream Team would probably win.
  17. Wright's OBP's to start his career: .332, .388, .381, .416, and this year he's at .386. Braun may have more home run power, but Wright also hits a ton of doubles and plays in park that favors pitchers quite a bit. Add in his defense, and Wright seems to be the better player to me. I love Braun to death, but until he can learn to lay off the junk when pitchers are obviously not giving him anything to hit, I wouldn't put him in the top 10 or 15 of that list. He's right around where he should be, IMO.
  18. David Wright #2? I'd probably take a half-injured Pujols, Grady Sizemore, or Longoria there, but to each their own. Braun and Fielder are about right, but I would've liked to see Hardy get a little love, especially if guys like Erik Bedard are getting honorable mentions.
  19. I liked Anderson better last year when he would just let the home crowd tell the story at the end of a close game. Now he tries to get on SportsCenter with a crazy call, even when Laynce Nix flies out to right field. Remember Opening Day last year when Sheets threw the complete game shutout and it was nothing but the crowd roaring once he got the final out? I'm a sucker for stuff like that.
  20. 21 games over on August 24th. Who would've thought that was possible the day we heard Gallardo had a torn ACL?
  21. I love it when the Brewers are on the favorable end of crazy win expectancy charts. Crazy game, and another one-run extra-innings win. Once again, pound sand, Pythagoras. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. Anyone trying to stay up until 1:30 AM to catch the start of the Gold Medal basketball game? I'm sure they'll show it again sometime Sunday morning, but since I'm the type to stay up late I might try to catch the first quarter or so.
  23. - Juan Pierre - Jack Wilson - David Eckstein - Ryan Ludwick - Skip Schumaker - Bronson Arroyo - Joba Chamberlain - Red Sox fans
  24. They need velcro to strap the morons down the third base line in their seats, or at least put up like a 5-foot plexiglass wall or something. How hard is it to not reach down and grab a ball?
  25. 3.5 game lead on St. Louis! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Go for the s-word tomorrow with CC on the hill, then get ready to kick some Cardinal butt.
