  1. Let's guarantee a winning season tonight, and keep the hopes for a 101-win season alive. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  2. Even if the Brewers go a semi-disastrous 11-12 to close out the year, the Phillies will have to go 16-6 and the Cards will have to go 17-5 to catch us. If the Brewers can go 12-11 counting the loss tonight, the Phils have to go 17-5 and the Cards have to go 18-4. Starting September 0-4 sucks, but it's definitely not as bad as it looks.
  3. Meh...oh well. Get 'em tomorrow with Sabathia. Credit Kevin Kouzmanoff with the save tonight...jeez.
  4. Ray Durham has kinda stunk since coming to Milwaukee. Disappointing trade.
  5. Probably because you can count the number of good managers out there on one hand.
  6. REAL playoff teams never ever lose games to the Padres.
  7. Imagine how good the Brewers' pitching staff would look if they had that kind of infield defense. Hard to beat a team when you can't get a ground ball through the infield.
  8. Yeah, I know his numbers with RISP are good so I shouldn't have this irrational fear of him coming up with guys on, but for whatever reason, I still lack confidence in him. It probably has to do with his lack of patience, and it's probably a little irrational. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. UGH. Ryan Braun makes me want to type things that aren't allowed here. I have absolutely no confidence in him when he comes up with guys on base.
  10. Whew...got out of that one without too much damage. This seems to be the typical "7 IP, 10 H, 3 ER, 3 K" night from Suppan.
  11. Oh wow...crap. Nice play by Kouzmanoff...nothing you can really do about that. Hardy absolutely ripped it down the line.
  12. Cameron leadoff triple! Let's get this thing tied back up again early.
  13. To add onto the Toronto Raptors thing, I also believe that there were raptor remains found in the Toronto area, or at least somewhere in present-day Canada, so at least the "animal" somewhat fits the region. I was never a fan of the "Bucks" name...yeah, let's name our team after an animal that doesn't do much but eat grass and get shot. That's ferocious. As for the Thunder, I don't mind the nickname. Cyclones or Tornadoes or Twisters or something would've been better, but apparently they were worried about the negative connotations a name like that would have in that area, since tons of people lose their homes to tornadoes every year (although that didn't stop the University of Miami from being the Hurricanes). OKC was kind of in a bind because they're really not known for anything nationally, other than being "that state above Texas." They really could've done better with the logo and colors, though -- the one they unveiled looks like a WNBA team's logo or something. Aren't thunderstorms supposed to be dark and intimidating? Why go with light blue and orange, instead of silver/black or gold/black or gold/silver?
  14. How the heck does Jeff Suppan have 10 wins?? Either way, here's to hoping for a repeat of his last start.
  15. Well, the Mets came into the series with a bullpen scoreless inning streak of three or something like that, so they at least had a decent game or two before coming into Milwaukee. It stinks that the Brewers couldn't score on the bullpen, sure, but it's not like it's indicative of some kind of epic failure. Even bad bullpens have good stretches every once and awhile -- look at the Brewers' bullpen the past few years.
  16. I think a lot of the Marlins' problem is that they're forced to play at Dolphins Stadium, which is like 45 minutes away from where most people in Miami live. The people of Miami don't mind making that trek 8 times a year for Dolphins home games, but you'd have to be nuts to go there for 81 Marlins games when most nights it's hot, muggy, and a good chance the game's going to get rained out. The good news for them is that it looks like the plans to build a stadium on top of the old Orange Bowl in Coral Gables is going to go through, so we'll finally be able to see how much of their problem is travel time to the stadium and how much of it is due to a tiny fanbase.

  19. It always seemed unlikely to me that they'd overturn it, and really, I think it kind of makes the Brewers look like whiners that they sent in a DVD and everything. If anything, hopefully this whole fiasco teaches scorekeepers to not be so quick to award the first hit of the game on a ball that's not fielded cleanly. You can always go back and change an error to a hit later in the game...it happens all the time. It's not as easy to change a hit into an error later in the game, especially if it would keep a no-hitter alive.
  20. At least the Brewers are stinking at home against a pretty good team. The Cubs are doing it against the Astros.
  21. HARDY BOMB! I will not give up until the last out is recorded. Perez is tiring and Manuel is Yostian when it comes to pitcher management.
  22. Bill Hall almost killed Brian Schneider on that popup. Slammed the bat into the ground with both hands, but nearly drilled Schneider in the head on the backswing. Mets announcers figure that Hall would've been called for obstruction if Schneider had dropped the pop up. They ripped into him pretty good for being selfish.
  23. Braun's plate discipline (or lack thereof) really ticks me off sometimes. Edit: Hart! They're not gonna get skunked today! Keep chipping away and get back into this thing.
