This is just brutal, but I can't say it's undeserved. This is a club that will flash good things, but will get beat on dribblers and weak grounders because they also do (or don't do) enough to put themselves in position to get beat that way.

Braun and Fielder are currently a combined 470+ points below their career OPS numbers on the season (both contributing about equally to the deficit).

This is just killing me. I've seen it all too much in too many sports lately. Play pretty well, and then a couple of things compound themselves on one play to erase a lot of the effort in another area. That was almost a Little League homer.

That rule, speaking plainly, just sucks, at least as applied.

Overcoming that kind of thing with Reyes has been hard for the Brewers so far this season. Maybe the fact they got out of it is a good sign. Or maybe it's just setting us up for an even more intolerable kick in the goodies.

I can't imagine that any team in the majors has had worse production from the 3-4-5 holes. And this team has three guys in those spots who have appeared in the All-Star game.

Nice semi-symmetry to end the game. should have had an out at second in the first, dead at second to end it. These are the 2008 Packers so far. Not good enough to get away from teams, fragile and unfortunate enough to give it away in the end.

DHonks, It's worse than gameday can show. He dropped it like a fourth grader drops the ball, sort of reaching straight out for it as a soft toss came to him.

I was thinking earlier this week that 9 is the over/under number for the month. This really does have a 'Packers 2008' feel to it so far. Have enough talent in enough places to play very well in stretches of a game, but enough holes/poor play/misfortune to be in a position to lose. Then top it all off by actually losing. I guess the sad part looking at the standings is that they're only ahead of the Washington Generals in the NL, and one of the three teams the Crew are tied with at 3 wins is a team that beat them 2 out of three to start the year.

Hit hard + walks is about as bad a combo as you can get. Even 2 runs won't be that bad for this inning if he can get this . . . Well, it's officially a terrible inning.

Jeebus. I was going to say that at least the first bad hop didn't nail him in the head. It's official. The only explanation for the past 6 months in Wisconsin sports is that the Brewers made a deal with the devil at about the smae time they fired Ned Yost.

Other than a few exciting Brewer games to close out last season, and one good night from Badger basketball in March, it's been pretty hard to get too excited about anything in Wisconsin sports since the pummeling the Crew took in that Cubs sweep last year.

If they blow this loaded and no out situaiton it's pretty much the worst of both worlds in the pitching/hitting department. And just like that . . .

Trying hard not to use up a strike here. I had Brewers pre-game on 652, but now blacked out. Fukudome!
