  1. Just checking to see if topper finally died after that play.
  2. It appears that everything that goes to press in this story is suspect. http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/9165418/no-evidence-tying-alex-rodriguez-purchasing-biogenesis-records-sources-say
  3. my law professor said pretty much the same thing I've seen it first hand a lot. I've seen people hire attorneys in small claims stuff and spend way more than the amount at stake in the case just to stick it to a neighbor or a party to an unsatisfactory transaction.
  4. As of this posting, there is an unscientific Sportsnation poll at ESPN asking whether the DH should be in place in both leagues, only the AL or abolished. A plurality (41%) are in favor of getting rid of the DH. WI is one of the few states in which an outright majority of (self-selected) respondents hold that opinion. As might be expected, the AL-heavy states (except California) are pro-"all DH". None of the states are in favor of the current split rules setup. My formative years were with the Crew in the AL, but I've never really liked the DH. I'm sure my opinion will sway the decisionmakers at MLB HQ.
  5. The really tragic part of this is that the bullpen guys all had to shower after the game given the unusual amount of running they did.
  6. What is the evidence that any player was attempting to buy documents? We have third-hand word of mouth and nothing direct. Given what has happened in this saga how can anyone trust anything related to these 'documents' on their face? They certainly don't appear to have been well or carefully maintained. We now have people selling them, possibly to multiple parties, and these are the same people whose testimony would be necessary to authenticate and add context to the documents. You don't have to have gone to law school and taken a course in the rules of evidence to see what a farce this is.
  7. Comparing the trajectories of the weather in these parts on the one hand and the Brewers season on the other, it's entirely possible that if there is a summer this year, there won't be much in the way of a meaningful Brewers season left to cheer for by the time it arrives. Yay, optimism.
  8. I'm holding PrinceEatMeat and ElCaballo45 responsible for the GIDP. Sure, we were all thinking the same thing but you guys wrote it.
  9. Playing the Cubs puts pretty much the whole regular forum here at BF.net into perspective.
  10. Yeah, it really wasn't terrible, it was just that double play timing was way off and also Segura also had to stretch for it. But I guess as a runner, all you are thinking about it making sure there is no DP. He could have broken up any possible DP by just getting into his feet/legs. He came up high with his knee at the last moment looking to create additional contact. It's maybe not dirty, but it's very aggressive for no real benefit. That's fine. I just don't want to hear whining from AZ when somebody gets aggressive with them to their detriment.

  12. I don't know if that was dirty, but it was unneccesary in my book, at least in terms of aggressivness. I don't blame Yuni at all. He pretty much had to throw it where he threw it to be sure of getting an out. Yes, he would have been better not bobbling it, but it's hard to fault a guy for not being perfect defensively or we'd have to fault every player on the roster.
  13. As of this post just before teh first pitch there are 4 regulars using this forum and 7 guests. It's not a must win for the Crew, but it might be for the fanbase.
  14. It was painful to just look at Braunie last night. You could see he literally couldn't turn his head I hate when that happens.
  15. The wild pitch fiasco was just that, but when you only score one yourself everything else is secondary.
  16. I'm relieved to know that this team can hit balls hard directly at fielders of teams other than Colorado.
