  1. On an unrelated note, my kid is at the game tonight with her new boyfriend. He sounds like a good kid to me. So we know where to place credit/blame after this one.
  2. Opening day also didn't turn out so well with BTB homers to sart the game. Let's keep posting bad omens and put on the reverse jinx.
  3. Greinke's BABIP against of .500 in Chicago the other day had very little to do with bad luck and very much to do with guys just smoking the ball when they hit it.
  4. Thing about sweeping the Cards is that for weeks before that series there was a lot of skepticism around here about how the Cards were winning. Then the Brewers beat them (without MH in the STL lineup) and suddenly it's a big deal. Like many seasons, maybe the dirty secret (or not-so-secret) is that you don't really need to be all that good to be in first place in the NL Central. There is a lot to like about this Brewers team, but you have to put it all in context.
  5. He was safe, but I think the ump was doing us all a favor.
  6. How is Herrera forced into the lineup when they have a perfectly good arm in McClendon sittingin Nashville? Herrera is a LOOGY at best. If your LOOGY isn't very good, you may as well just have a general use bullpen guy on the roster and take your chances with the guys you have. Roeneike himself earlier this season was talking about how the had no lefties at all in teh pen with the Angels on many occasions. Un less your LOOGY is really good at his job, you're better off with the better overall pitcher. That ain't Herrera. Not hating. Just the truth.
  7. The sad part is that this is what baseball is nowdays except for the big money teams that can really afford to stock a roster. It's sort of always been that way, it's just worse now. That said, McClendon has to be a better option, no matter what arm he pitches with.
  8. It's hard to beleive that anyone thought Herrera was a good idea in any way, unless they knew a while ago that they might be making a move with Braddock. Even then, you still have to think it's a bad move.
  9. If you call up Gamel you're basically calling him up for 3 games unless you plan on playing him out of position (or not at all) for a full week after this weekend. And then you'd be expecting all the other regulars to be playing their regular positions every day in Boston. No real problem with not making a move. Maybe the bring somebody up when they go to AL parks for a week, but I doubt it.
  10. Thank you, Mr Hallion. Feels like it's just delaying the inevitable, but I'll take it.
  11. Pain. - Clubber Lang I have no idea what to make of this team other than that they will give you access to all of your emotions. They seem somewhat impenetrable to rational analysis on anything but the simplest of levels. At least teh Cards lost again tonight on a walk-off after a rally of their own.
  12. Didn't pitch well, but also got no help at all from the defense. Of the first 5 runs, only 2 were batted in.
  13. So, will Boston this year be liike the last trip in a couple of years ago? Or will the Brewers find a way to bounce back and play well like they did in Philly after being embarrased in DC earler this season? I have no idea. But I think this team will be infuriating all year. Enough talent in a few places to mask the potentially devastating holes everywhere else.
  14. By my count, Greinke's BABIP today was .500 (7/14) and very little of that had to do with "bad luck".
  15. So on a pitch that isn't close to a strike and doesn't make the infield dirt, the Cubs end up with runners at 2nd and 3rd.
  16. Rickie needs a vision check. No idea what he saw there.
  17. I would not be opposed to getting about 4 more runs this inning. Not that I don't trust Axford, but this game just feels like it has some bad juju.
  18. Man, I thought Prince was going to give himself a concussion with that slide.
  19. That play by Prince just about screams for a bleeder hit to score another run for the Cubs.
  20. I think there have been quite a few times, if you listen close and read between the lines, that BA and Rock have been about as critical/tell-it-lie-it-is as they are allowed to be.
  21. Did the Brewers wear their sweep suits to Chicago?
