  1. How is Bill surprised he was called out? Umps are garbage and only look to see if the ball beat the runner. If it did, he's called out even though sometimes he isn't, like in that case.
  2. You would obviously take your chances because chances are you're still going to end up at least 1-1.
  3. Seems like the right choice was made.
  4. Don't know why you wouldn't hope for 2-0.
  5. Based on my experience in Dallas, they're real easy to spot. The women all have mini pom-poms and the men all look like Eli Manning, complete with flop haircuts (or conservative parts). I said it on twitter last year but every SEC fan you see on TV either looks like Farmer Fran from The Waterboy or looks woefully underdressed for their country club.
  6. It usually doesn't click when you're 30 though.
  7. His dad was being interviewed by the Marlins broadcast when he hit that homer.
  8. BA: Keston Hiura probably said I was standing right there." Yeah, BA, that's probably why Lyles dove to field it.
  9. [sarcasm]Alcides Escobar is available for a reunion.[/sarcasm] I was hoping for Pat Listach Jose Valentin and his sweet penmanship.
  10. Surprised BA even knows the names of some of these guys on the Brewers.
  11. Cubs signed him.
  12. Fangraphs has him at 0.7 WAR and one of the 10 worst qualified offensive players in the game.
  13. Which is the way that’s clear?
  14. So does every other team.
  15. Glad you agree that he’s hamstringing us. Bringing up worse contracts does not help your argument and doesn’t mean that Braun’s contract isn’t hamstringing us.
  16. Sounds like me the last couple of years and this is exactly what I was worried about. Never really bottomed out, got lucky for a couple years with Casey McGehee like players like Shaw, traded prospects and now we're back exactly where we were except now the fan base probably won't tolerate a several year rebuild like they would've been willing to in 2015. The only veteran signing that might hamstring us a bit is Cain. And if you are actually going to say that you regret the Yelich trade you are straight up lying. We've had no pitchers step up this year other than Woodruff, and we had a lot of guys who could/should have. That's not on Stearns, and is mostly unavoidable (unless DJ was retainable?) So basically the only veteran signing he's made? He also didn't trade Braun when he had the chance, which is currently hamstringing us and we didn't have many elite pitching prospects, so asking them to step up and perform is probably going to have mixed results. So yes, all of this is on Stearns. As far as the Yelich trade, what exactly is that getting us? An MVP surrounded by a bunch of players that are good enough to get us 81-85 wins.

  18. Every ball hit against Gonzalez has been considered hard contact (95 mph or more) by Statcast. The lowest is 95.7, the highest 106.4.
  19. I don't know if he's guilty or not guilty but the ADA seemed like kind of a prick and asked an awful question that could have prejudiced the jury to making Cephus a sympathetic figure. I mean, tell the jury to disregard the comment all you want but they all heard it. Also in that article from where that quote is pulled from is the ADA just going rapid fire against him basically trying to confuse him into providing an answer that would help his case to the point where the judge had to tell him to slow down with the questions. Like I said, I have no idea if he's guilty or not guilty but the ADA played the case about as wrong as you possibly could just based on the quotes in the story.
  20. Nothing I can see. Announcers are kind of baffled too. There are a couple of strings that fly but that goes for every players' glove and the color is just like a blue patch somewhere so I guess that's what it was? Either way, it was weird and clearly not a reason the Brewers couldn't hit because Yelich struck out on 3 pitches and Hiura weakly grounded out.
  21. Yeah, slider right down the middle. I don't know what his hot zones are but I would imagine that's a hot zone for 95% of MLB players.
  22. I can imagine it. It's called the year 2020. I think 3b will be ok. Often guys have down years and then really buckle down the following offseason. So maybe Shaw gets it in gear for 2020. Catcher is a bit of a different story, but we'll have some $ available to sign someone. Fair point though... I'm not sure we'll have as much as people seem to think. Attanasio stretched the payroll to $122.5 million this year and with how disappointing this team has been, I'm not sure he'll be willing to do that again. As it is we're going to have $50.75 million committed to our starting outfield and buyouts to Grandal and Moustakas. I'm assuming Anderson and Thames' options will be picked up, that adds another $16 million. Knebel and Shaw will get another $10 million. Jeffress might have played himself into getting his option declined so he will either sign at a discount or move on in which case we'll need a replacement. Davies, Guerra, Claudio, Gamel and Arcia will get raises. Obviously trades can be made but with not a ton of money to spend and a farm system that doesn't have any suitable replacements, it's going to be tough.
  23. He was a +6 DRS in the corners last year, so while he's been bad this year he's probably not that bad overall and while he was really good last year, he's probably not that good. The truth is somewhere in the middle and he's playable in the corners in that middle ground. I'll say I didn't like the deal and still don't. Sold low on him and got a mediocre 4th outfielder and a pitcher whose absolute best case scenario is Zach Davies but probably not even that because Davies was posting a 2.5 WAR season in the majors at the age Zavolas is now.
  24. I can imagine it. It's called the year 2020.
