  1. I see you've changed from the "we're showcasing him for an August trade."
  2. Of course it doesn't help that Attanasio basically made it a requirement that anybody he hired had to keep Counsell. That probably makes Counsell feel invincible about being fired, at least for this year.
  3. He's a pointless veteran taking away at bats from two young outfielders. It'd be one thing if it's a situation like Carter where it's a pointless veteran signed because we had no one else there (even though I would've preferred giving Pinto a shot at 1B instead of signing Carter.)
  4. You have to wonder what Stearns is doing as well. Does he not see this happening? Is he okay with it? Has he told Counsell to knock it off and Counsell is just ignoring him? It's just ridiculous at this point.
  5. Hey, did you guys know there were a lot of Cubs fans at Miller Park? They only mentioned that about 384 times today.
  6. Doing a great job screwing ourselves right now.
  7. I get it...but I don't like that they get to assume he wouldn't have scored. Well you can't assume that he would've scored. If there was no contact presumably Jaso would've been able to get to the ball faster and the play at home was pretty close with the contact.
  8. Yeah, a few games ago Brian and Bill said during the broadcast there was nothing wrong with Santana, they just "couldn't take Nieuwenhuis out of the lineup" or some crap like that. If we were going to do this, we should've just kept Flores and optioned Santana to the minors. That's still obviously not ideal but at least he'd be getting consistent at bats somewhere instead of maybe getting a pinch hit appearance once every game.
  9. It's not really even worth getting bent out of shape over anymore, beyond ridiculous. I'm not sure why Counsell has such a great reputation with the fans, what has he really excelled at? As a manager how is he different than anyone else? I'm a little disappointed Stearns hasn't gone to Counsell and told him to knock it off. Nieuwenhuis is a fine 4th outfielder and would be a decent starter if we had no younger options but we have options and he needs to be a Braun sub when he needs a break and maybe a Santana/Broxton sub once or twice a week, not an everyday player.
  10. Tell us again how Counsell is only playing Nieuwenhuis for an August trade.
  11. Coming into the game the Brewers were hitting .288/.344/.478 with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 out. I probably wouldn't have bunted but understand why they did. If a ground ball pitcher like Bowman gets Maldonado to hit a ground ball, it's probably going to be a double play. Of course, he just walked two batters so maybe you make him throw you a strike first and see if he can continue to get pitches in the zone because he hadn't really been close to the zone at that point.
  12. Bill correctly says Pina and literally a second later Brian says Pena. It's like he's intentionally trolling at this point or just too stupid to figure out what an "i" and an "e" are.
  13. The problem with this part is, is he a .380 OBP guy going forward? His BABIP this year is .401. His career is .357. If his BABIP drops to .360, what's his average and OBP going to look like? It will still be decent but not the .300/380 he's putting up this year. Add in the less than ideal defense and you're just not getting a super valuable player. I'd like to see them shop him before other teams find that out and hope some team overpays for what he did this year.
  14. This umpire is awful. Calling strikes below the knees and missing obvious strikes.
  15. That just means you have good taste in music. Or at least not awful taste in music.
  16. Yeah, his foot was dragging away from the base to reach the show but it's impossible to tell when it did. It looks like it's fine since you can't see an opening between his foot and the base until Braun jars the base with his foot but since the ball was in his glove just before Braun touched the base, that's the only thing that really matters since the game is over at that point and where his foot is isn't an issue anymore. You could look at that replay 500 times and say well maybe his heel hit the base just before the ball got there or maybe his foot came off the base right before he caught it but you're never going to get a definitive angle that would allow you to overturn the call.
  17. I mean, that play is so close that you have to stick with the ruling on the field. They probably just cycled through every angle they had and if none of them showed conclusively that his heel hit first or that Rodriguez was off the base, they would just stick with the call. Looking at the replay, Rodriguez's foot might have been off the base but it's hard to tell when because the base "jumps up" when Braun's foot hits it.
  18. Not sure how he looked safe. The only argument you could possibly make was his heel hit first but even if it did, it still looked like he was out by an eyelash. At least now the fans there get to enjoy a crappy concert.
  19. Thank God Brian isn't here so we don't have another 10 minute conversation on "a stolen base is a stolen base. There shouldn't be defensive indifference."
