  1. I think he would've been out. Maldonado is really, really slow. Maybe, but I think you've got a better shot than the next guy reaching. If Bill is right and the only reason they didn't send him was because Braun was on deck, they should have sent him. Braun has been horrible in June. It's really a no win situation for Sedar. He sends Maldonado and he gets thrown out, people complain that the last out is made at home with a slow runner and Braun coming up. He doesn't send Maldonado and Braun makes an out and he's an idiot for not sending Maldonado.
  2. I think he would've been out. Maldonado is really, really slow.
  3. Sophia definitely said it was because he was young. Maybe that's just their way of saying you've sucked lately, so we're skipping you but we're going to say it's because of an innings limit.
  4. I'd dispute "young," but it makes sense to skip someone with three of eight days off. I get that it makes sense to skip a starter. My point was basically what you said. Anderson isn't young. Skipping a Davies start or something I would understand because he's only 23 but not Anderson, at least not for the reason they gave.
  5. I actually like West Coast baseball. I have no idea why because I think they suck in every other sport. I'm weird.
  6. Not exactly sure what Maldonado was doing there.
  7. Chase Anderson is 28 yet he's the "young" pitcher getting skipped? What?
  8. The only way I would take him is if they wanted Braun and say one of our starting pitchers and we would get multiple top prospects in return. Like there are no off limits prospects if we take him back.
  9. I'd take a risk if the guy was 24 or 25. He's 27 though, how much better can we realistically expect him to get and how many years of free agency does it make sense to buy out when he'll be 31 when he's a free agent?
  10. He has been returned to the Twins and assigned to AA Chattanooga.
  11. How does this scrub junkballer have a no hitter for 1 inning much less 6 or whatever it was?
  12. Since being acquired by the White Sox, James Shields has retired 26 batters. He's also given up 22 runs in that span.
  13. So we should be giving them to guys like Nieuwenhuis and Presley instead? Older guys that are struggling as well?
  14. Only I didn't say fudge. I'm surprised Counsell had Jeffress walk Seager after Jeffress made him look like an idiot last night and after he looked like an idiot a couple times tonight. You already have the double play set up after the IBB to Utley.
  15. Maybe that just means they didn't have good defenders in their system when Villar was coming up. He's been a pretty bad fielder in MLB. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=10071&position=SS#fielding
  16. I wouldn't give Nelson a contract extension. We already have him through age 32 I think. That's not somebody you buy out a couple of years of free agency from. You keep him and let him hit free agency or ideally, deal him before he hits free agency and get better value than a draft pick.
  17. Nothing is ever as impressive as they make it seem.
  18. I'd DFA Grandal just for that. What is he thinking?
  19. 8th rounder Francisco Thomas signs for $200k. Slightly above the slot for that pick.
  20. I disagree. Especially this summer where there isn't going to be much available in terms of pitching. There's Rich Hill who will be a FA at season's end. Making a youngish, cost controlled starter available in this market is probably the smart thing to do. Not saying you have to trade him but if there was ever a time a team was going to overpay, this summer is it.
  21. Somebody at gameday is asleep at the wheel because it's been stuck on Matt Duffy's strikeout when it was 5-0 for probably 20 minutes now.
  22. Can someone watching explain what happened. I'm assuming the line drive hit Nelson in the glove, he dropped it and then threw home for the force out. Maldonado then tried to get the double play but made the throwing error allowing Duffy to score. Am I close?
  23. They signed Matt Holiday but I think the market for him was pretty light and he ended up signing back in St. Louis later in the offseason.
