  1. He brought in a 23 year old relief pitching prospect that struck out less than 7 per 9 and walked around 3.5 per 9. Granted, that's not nothing but it's not a lot and nothing to be excited about.
  2. If the board broke like that and we still took Pint, I would not be a fan of that at all.
  3. Huh? I don't think you're familiar with the Pirates at all. MLB Pipeline and Keith Law have the Pirates system ranked 8th. The Brewers are 9th and 5th respectively in the same rankings. I believe BA has the Brewers 7th and the Pirates 11th. They have two pitching prospects that are far better than any we have. They could add a third really good pitching prospect depending how well Kingham comes back from TJ surgery. Even if they can't sign McCutchen to another contract, they still have two outfielders signed long term with another really good outfield prospect on the way plus whatever they get if they decide to trade him. Same with Gerrit Cole.
  4. Every sort of difficult defensive play is amazing to him as well. He's just really annoying overall.
  5. In 2008 it was really just Torres, Villanueva and Shouse and you really only wanted Shouse facing lefties, unless you were Ned and had him intentionally walk Ryan Howard to face Pat Burrell. The 2011 bullpen was better than I remember and got better after trading for K-Rod.
  6. [dt][/dt] I absolutely agree you don't want pitchers out there giving up runs every inning. To me it's just frustrating that we finally have a solid bullpen (for the most part, I don't think much of Cappy and especially Boyer) of younger, hard throwing relievers in a rebuild when we could've used arms like them in 2008 and 2011 when it actually mattered instead of like the two or maybe three reliable arms we had. And we absolutely could get something good for some of our bullpen arms. Jeffress especially and Smith if he pitches well when he comes back, either alone or as part of a package involving Lucroy or Braun to sweeten it.
  7. Most ridiculous post I've seen in awhile. A fan upset at their team for playing their best 25 guys. Not only that but a guy like Nieuwenhuis, Hill, etc.. Can actually bring pieces back if they continue to do well. On top of that, if this team didn't start off pitching so bad we would be even closer to the Wild Card. This team is starting to play some good baseball and that's without Garza, Knebel, and Smith. How you can't enjoy what this team is doing is really beyond me. Bite me with your first sentence. It's an opinion I was wondering if anyone else shared. And I'm not convinced we're playing our best guys anyways. We should be playing guys that could possibly have a future with the team anyways. And what exactly are Nieuwenhuis and Hill going to get us? Maybe a bullpen prospect for Nieuwenhuis? Maybe the same for Hill if we kick in some money? That's not valuable enough to be starting them everyday.
  8. Am I the only one not enjoying this season at all? We get old scrubs like Hill, Niewenhuis and Presley being favored over guys like Perez, Flores and Broxton. We have a good bullpen when it would be fine to have an awful bullpen to knock us into the top 3 range for a pick. Don't get me wrong, we could have an enjoyable team but Counsell favors gritty veterans because that's the type of player he was. If I was Stearns I would be telling Counsell that Broxton, Flores and Perez are starting at minimum 3 out of every 4 days regardless of their results. The older guys can be thhe rah-rah guys on the bench, pinch hit and get the occasional start.
  9. 1. Phillies - A.J. Puk 2. Reds - Nick Senzel 3. Braves - Kyle Lewis 4. Rockies - Jason Groome 5. Brewers - Delvin Perez 6. Athletics - Corey Ray 7. Marlins - Mickey Moniak 8. Padres - Blake Rutherford 9. Tigers - Riley Pint 10. White Sox - Dakota Hudson
  10. I'm guessing it means it was watered heavily to make it easier to slow down any of Syndergaard's sliders that bounced in the dirt.
  11. He was out anyways. Even if he was safe in the first part, his foot clearly came off the base after the slide while the tag was still being applied. Syndergaard is awesome and it's nice to see Jim Henderson back in the big leagues and pitching well.
  12. That Bon Jovi DirecTV commercial shouldn't amuse me as much as it does.
  13. That play is probably the best example of why I despise Brian Anderson. An easy grounder to 1st where Carter steps on the base and then throws to 2nd gets a "Wow, what a play!" Really? That's an incredibly easy play for a major league player. That's an easy play for a high school player. Not everything has to be the best play ever.
  14. I get that we can't right now because Santana and Braun are hurt but I'd definitely play Broxton. Might as well see if he can develop into a piece for the future. Same with Flores who was getting sporadic playing time before injuries at the expense of both Nieuwenhuis and Presley.
  15. I hate that the average age of our starting lineup today is 29 years old. I know we're not going to rush our prospects but we're playing a bunch of guys that have no future on this team at the expense of guys that might. I have no desire to see a 31 year old Alex Presley, a 29 year old Kirk Nieuwenhuis and 34 year old Aaron Hill playing every day.
  16. Unless you saw his medicals, I'm not sure how you can say there was a non-existent hip issue. And before you say the Brewers and Boras said there wasn't one, of course they're going to say that. The Brewers were still trying to trade him and Boras' job is to get him a huge contract.
  17. It used to be cool to follow along on MLB Gameday even when I had the game on TV but they turned that into hot garbage. They have that new gameday which is worse than the classic but if you go to classic there's no video highlights and where the layout of Citi Field is supposed to be there's just a blank white background with the names of the defenders.
  18. Why? The trade leaked before it was finalized and then the Mets found something that they weren't comfortable with and backed out. You don't blame the Mets for that and it looks like it was a pretty good decision by the Mets to back out considering what Gomez has done since being traded. It's not like the trade was agreed to, finalized and then they backed out because Flores was crying on the field and they felt bad or something.
  19. Why does Terry Collins have a love affair with Eric Campbell?
  20. He's almost two months older than I am and I would consider myself nearly 30. Not sure what's so controversial about that statement. He'll be 29 in a couple of weeks. Most catchers aren't 29 year olds in AAA with less than 20 major league plate appearances. I'd be shocked if he came up and was anything but horrible with the bat. That's fine because he'll be a backup and we don't need him to be good while we're obviously rebuilding.
  21. It's great that they want to raise the strike zone but if umpire's keep calling a low strike, it's not going to matter at all.
  22. Lucroy - Phillips, Lopez, Lara Carter - Reed + Diplan Jeffress - Ponce + Diaz Gennett - Orimoloye + Houser Hill - Magnifico Nieuwenhuis - Derby Boyer - I think he's awful and due for major regression at which point he won't have any value but right now maybe we could get a Rymer Liriano type player for him.
