  1. Who replaces Lucroy? Right now, it's Maldonado (.523 OPS), Centeno (.589 OPS - in COLORADO SPRINGS), or Weisenburger (decent OBP at AA, but getting older) in-house, meaning the Brewers go on the free-agent market for... who? If we trade Lucroy, why would it matter. That would obviously signal a complete rebuild and plenty of time to find a future catcher.
  2. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 20s20 seconds ago Asked official involved with Gomez trade why Flores is still in game. Reply: “No deal is done. The entire world has jumped the gun.” Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 32s33 seconds ago Not sure how to interpret that. Club officials often say such things when deals are at the stage in which review of medicals is pending.
  3. No, he was on the MLB roster when he was injured so he collects MLB service time while on the DL. Wheeler was the 11th ranked prospect by BA overall to start 2013. Now, you can knock him down to say 25 or 30 based on the injury and already accumulated service time and Flores was a top 60ish prospect at one point. Like I said before, I would've preferred a pitching prospect like Molina to Flores but it's not like Flores lacks talent. Everyone was saying we needed a top 20ish and top 50ish prospect for Gomez and that's basically what we got.
  4. I'm okay with this deal. Wheeler wouldn't be available if he didn't have TJ surgery. I would've preferred a pitching prospect to Flores but he's only 23 and could be an option long term at 3B. More importantly, this signals that they appear to be willing to take a step back to take two steps forward.
  5. Perhaps this gives them an opportunity to trade Fiers as well. With Wheeler in, not this year obviously but somebody is getting kicked out and Fiers is the oldest and has some good value.
  6. That's what I was trying to point out. It's just so dumb when you think about it. Free swingers typically don't strike out a lot because they swing and make contact before they get to two strikes.
  7. Oh, so all we need to do is get rid of our old, crap free agent signing pitcher and develop a top 10 pick into an ace? And if we take away our two awful months we're an 84 win team? [sarcasm]Yay![/sarcasm]
  8. Schroeder wouldn't call Segura a free swinger because "he doesn't strike out a lot." Oof.
  9. More depression.
  10. http://milwaukee.locals.baseballprospectus.com/2015/07/29/all-questions-answered-trade-deadline-2015/ So depressing.
  11. Gomez could've easily laughed at Lucroy considering Lucroy grounded into a DP with runners on 1st and 2nd in the game. That's what I would've done.
  12. 10th overall pick in last year's draft. Really good hitter but a corner outfielder.
  13. Just getting the feeling that this is going to be the most depressing trade deadline ever. Not even sure the Brewers are going to trade Parra at this point.
  14. That wasn't even the stupidest ejection last night. You know how when a player strikes out to end the inning and they just flip their bat and helmet down for the ball boy to come and pick up along with shin guards, elbow guards, batting gloves and whatever else they have on? Well Mike Napoli did that last night, except when he flipped his helmet off, it bounced off home plate and took a weird bounce and went backwards and hit the umpire in the leg. The umpire saw the whole thing happen, the fact that Napoli was pissed that he took strike 3, the fact that it took a weird bounce off home plate and the fact the ump had plenty of time to avoid the helmet but instead just watched it. He ended up ejecting Napoli because of it.
  15. @CJNitkowski Chris Vass of @MLBNetworkRadio says the Rockies will eat $6 of the approximate $105M owed to Tulo. Not $6M, $6.00.
  16. LaTroy Hawkins going to the Jays too.
  17. Reyes and minor leaguers to the Rockies according to Rosenthal.
  18. I was 21 in 2008 too. A couple regular season games that didn't have playoff implications but were awesome. Rick Helling's immaculate inning against the Tigers in 2006 I think. The Brewers got blown out in that game but seeing something that rare happen at a game is pretty cool. The Brewers scoring 8 runs in the 2nd inning off Carlos Zambrano in June 2005. That was extra sweet considering all the crap Cubs fans were talking before the game. July 5th, 2006. Brewers beat the Reds in 13 innings. Adam Dunn hit a monster homer in the 10th to give the Reds the lead. Jenkins led off the bottom of the 10th with a homer off the facing of the 2nd deck in right field. The Reds scored in the 13th and then Rickie Weeks doubled home two in the bottom half to win the game on what is still the hardest hit ball I've ever seen.
  19. Hanley Ramirez is an outfielder now, so no, Davis isn't the worst.
