  1. He is probably the 2nd best center in the league... (wait for it)... when healthy. He's not even the 2nd best center in the division at this point. Look at the Top 3 picks over the past several years, they are about a 50/50 proposition. Let's look at top 5 picks the past several years 2009: Blake Griffin, Hasheem Thabeet, James Harden, Tyreke Evans, Ricky Rubio 2008: Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley, O.J. Mayo, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love 2007: Greg Oden, Kevin Durant, Al Horford, Mike Conley, Jeff Green 2006: Andrea Bargnani, LaMarcus Aldridge, Adam Morrison, Tyrus Thomas, Sheldon Williams 2005: Andrew Bogut, Marvin Williams, Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Raymond Felton 2004: Dwight Howard, Emeka Okafor, Ben Gordon, Shaun Livingston, Josh Childress 2003: LeBron James, Darko Milicic, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade 2002: Yao Ming, Jay Williams, Mike Dunleavy Jr., Drew Gooden, Nikoloz Tskitishvili 2001: Kwame Brown, Tyson Chandler, Pau Gasol, Eddy Curry, Jason Richardson I see 18 all-stars out of 45 and several superstars. How do you win in the NBA? With one superstar and a solid supporting cast or with multiple all-stars. Where are you going to get all-stars most likely? Top of the draft. The Bucks haven't figured this out in 20 years. Where did we get the core players for our last contending team? Glenn Robinson - #1 overall pick, Ray Allen - #5 overall pick, Sam Cassell - traded former 11th overall pick Terrell Brandon for him. The best thing the Bucks could do is trade Bogut, suck for a couple years and see what you come up with high in the lottery.
  2. Corn Trader wrote: The perception in the draft that year was either Bogut or Marvin Williams were the two potential stars in the draft. Looking at it that way, we got kind of lucky Uhh, no. Paul was very highly thought of as a potential star and then he punched Julius Hodge below the belt. 15/4.5/6.5 in a major conference as a sophomore is incredible. Andy Katz was one who touted Chris Paul as the #1 overall pick. And since when does an NBA team have to listen to what people in the media have to say about who should go where and who they should pick? I'm pretty sure nobody had Deron Williams rated as the 3rd best prospect and best point guard in that draft but Utah is a smart organization and they traded up to 3 to draft him. That worked out pretty well for them. The Bucks meanwhile probably had this line of thinking. We already have a point guard in T.J. Ford so it wouldn't make sense to draft another one and we don't have any good big men so let's draft Bogut.
  3. How is that unlucky? They had a chance to pick Chris Paul or Deron Williams. The scouting and drafting just suck.
  4. Josi and Ellis have really helped stabilize the defense. Getting Blum and Hillen either out or to the 3rd pairing was huge. Pekka has been dominating lately as well yet all you hear is Tim Thomas and Henrik Lundqvist.
  5. Madtown343 wrote: Articles like Buster Onley's "He should just give away his MVP even if he intends to plead innocence" are part of the problem. We are two weeks from finally knowing some of the truth's and finding out if MLB thinks he was negligent, cheated, etc. and this fool cant wait until that is finished to spew this garbage. Why would he give up the MVP if he thinks he is innocent? Is that not the most damning thing he could do? Why write this article and point fingers when the truth has not been uncoverd and it is your network was the one that ran with the story prematurely in the first place. The average fan picks up bits and pieces along the way, and when sports writers are jumping to conclusions why wouldnt they? Just annoyed. Why would this shock anybody? He works for the same company that broke this story in the first place even though it was supposed to be confidential until the appeal because they had to break the story before anyone else.
  6. TooLiveBrew wrote: Hasn't Jackson been viewed as a tool for a long time now? Was he really expected to bring in leadership? He's supposedly a guy who will "do anything to win." I hated that trade. The guy is a total scrub player who was whining about his contract. Nice job Hammond, you have mastered the trade your crap for another team's crap.
  7. That's weird since Felix only played in 14 of their 81 home games last year. They did average 1,973 more fans in games that he pitched but that doesn't seem like a big enough difference to keep him just because he "draws fans."
  8. Wow, three year age difference. That's a pretty bad contract so if I'm the Indians, I see if there's a way I can void it.
  9. He listed Atlanta and Arizona too. Just seems like he's pulling names out of a hat.
  10. Bikeage77 wrote: He hits for power and his OBP probably come up with more time. Why would you think his OBP will go up? His career OBP in the minors was .330. Gamel meanwhile has a career .374 OBP in the minors. Gamel also has a higher career SLG% in the minors and he didn't get the benefit of playing in the CAL League.
  11. I like the yellow jerseys, would much rather they be the third alternates than the ball and glove retro crap.
  12. RockCoCougars wrote: I'm not sure that it's a safe assumption that a 35 year old shortstop is going to come in and be an elite fielder. He doesn't have to be to be a defensive upgrade.
  13. Oh just saw that Northwestern beat Michigan State today. Any time Michigan State basketball loses, it's a good thing. Replay in BTN is coming up in 10 minutes too.
  14. So we only get one IR spot in the fantasy league? That's lame. I have 4 guys on IR right now and 2 more that are DTD.
  15. narwhalattack wrote: I'm leaning towards just keeping him until he hits FA and get draft picks(if he's good enough to be a Type B or above). He would accept arby so we wouldn't get picks.
  16. I am terrible at art and ceramics and all that stuff. I used to play crayon hockey in elementary school art and most of my ceramics projects ended up in the Bark River on the walk home from school. I'm sure I have something that I couldn't find later to show you how terrible I am at drawing or painting or any other type of art.
  17. I think overall Pineda for Montero is fair just based on needs, especially for the Mariners. It's hard to get position players to sign in Seattle, at least good offensive ones just based on the park being hard to hit in and it shouldn't be as difficult to get pitchers to sign there and it should make mediocre pitchers look better than they are. The Campos for Noesi deal on the Mariners end makes no sense though.
  18. Yeah, I think the Yankees got the better of this deal. Also picked up a very impressive young arm in Jose Campos as well.
  19. RockCoCougars wrote: The Bucks have had an easy schedule, but is it really going to get much tougher? Well the next 9 games are pretty tough. @ 6-5 Dallas @ 7-3 Philadelphia vs 7-4 Denver @ 6-5 New York @ 8-3 Miami vs 8-4 Atlanta @ 3-7 Houston @ 10-2 Chicago vs 8-4 Los Angeles Then at the end of February there's a 6 game stretch @ Boston, @ Atlanta, @ Orlando, vs Philadelphia, vs Chicago, vs New York
  20. Menotti80 wrote: At their current pace, the bucks will finish. 500. I hate to burst your bubble but they're 4-6 playing one of the easiest schedules in the NBA. They've beaten 1-9 Washington, 3-7 Minnesota, 7-4 San Antonio and 2-9 Detroit. They've lost to 2-9 Charlotte, 7-4 Denver, 6-4 Utah, 4-6 Phoenix, 4-7 Sacramento and 5-3 Los Angeles.
  21. Crew2323 wrote: I wouldn't call him a fraud. I'll call him a fraud until he actually breaks something. He's about 0 for 100. He sounded like an idiot when he used to call in on sports radio a few years back too.
  22. B2k1121 wrote: Not sure who BrewerNation is on Twitter, but I think he broke some Brewers news before. He says there is potentially huge Brewers news upcoming. Maybe related to this, I don't know. My guess is a Braun ruling though. He's never broken any Brewers news. He's a complete fraud.
  23. MNBrew wrote: There's no downside to the pickup, but as someone who's never seen AAA, the odds of him making it to MIL this year would seem both very long and predicated by multiple position-specific injuries. Not sure about that. As of now his only competition is Cesar Izturis. I'd rather have Bianchi than Izturis with the knowledge that Izturis is on a minor league deal and Bianchi has an option remaining as well as more upside than Izturis.
  24. brettac1 wrote: He's certainly best known for the trainwreck of a defensive game he had in game 3 of the NLDS against the Giants in 2010. The Braves likely would have had a great chance to win that series if not for him. I remember him for the walk-off grand slam that he thought was caught.
