  1. Better than the bad fielding, bad hitting shortstop that we have.
  2. Assuming the Jays don't pay a lot of Wells' salary, this is a fantastic deal for them.
  3. I hope they have good pillows in San Francisco.
  4. I like Rinne's (doesn't show Peks written on it, boooo) and Lindback's. Though I'm biased. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. Why would they name an opening day starter in January and why isn't it the manager who's naming the opening day starter?
  6. He's been pretty annoying lately whining about Packer fans chanting the Bears still suck because he doesn't like the word suck.
  7. TH with a blog update. Sounds fairly promising that they're only discussing multi-year deals instead of just a one year arbitration deal.
  8. The new Moneyball thing is to overpay for relievers now?
  9. My brother feels the same way about celery. I really have nothing that I can think of that I would be world champion at.
  10. I don't want any of those starting pitchers. If we need another pitcher, I'd take Rogers or Rivas. Podsednik can't play CF, not that he would need to. He'd be a better 5th OF than Boggs.
  11. Amazing. The day I'm talking about all the NHL talent that has gone through Milwaukee this comes out.
  12. In a word, terrible though it's not completely my fault. I actually had no intention of joining but they needed one more player at the last minute so I signed up, it's my first time ever playing fantasy sports of any kind so I wasn't really sure what to expect and since I signed up right before the draft I didn't really get a chance to look over all the categories. Well after the draft I realized 40% of the categories involve the goalies and I have weak goaltending. I tried to make a trade for a goalie, but I kept getting awful offers like Backstrom and Samuelsson for Sergei Bobrovsky. I'm like, okay that's my best player and one of my other good forwards and I can't even get a goalie who plays 75% of the time? Problem was everyone knew I needed a goalie and thought they could screw me in trades, so I just decided to give up most of the goalie categories, maybe winning one or two of them and then just try to beat them in the other 11 categories. It hasn't worked out too well, I'm 87-119-15 in 15th place out of 16 teams. Only 7 points out of 13th place though!
  13. I don't think he is a Brewers fan. The guy who took the picture says he wears a bunch of different hats. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif A Canadiens fan who saw Kostitsyn play a lot last year had this to say about him (the same fan who took that picture of Price btw) He's in the last year of his contract and playing for a new one so I'd take a shot on him. Like you said, Gagne has been horrible, -21 on a team as good as the Lightning is amazingly bad. As far as Reimer. He's decent, maybe a mediocre #1 goalie or a really good backup. Who are you other goalies? I don't think you would get much in a trade for him so I wouldn't pick him up for just that reason, but if you think he's an upgrade over your 3rd goalie, I'd go for it.
  14. Schafer has like 20 at bats in Huntsville. Even if Gomez does suck, and he does, Schafer is very likely to be worse.
  15. Milwaukee has a team that's the level right below the NHL and since Nashville doesn't usually sign free agents and develops from within there are a lot of future NHL players on their teams. J Just looking at Nashville's roster right now here is a list of players who spent time in Milwaukee. Cal O'Reilly Jerred Smithson Nick Spaling Colin Wilson Martin Erat Patric Hornqvist Chris Mueller Andreas Thuresson Cody Franson Kevin Klein Alexander Sulzer Ryan Suter Shea Weber Pekka Rinne So over half of their current roster has played in Milwaukee and that's not even counting guys who played in Milwaukee and went on to play in the NHL for different teams (Mike Santorelli is the example jumping out at me right now since he's the most recent.) And no, there are no assigned numbers as far as I know. Also, tying this in to baseball here is a picture of Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price wearing a Brewers hat. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1171.snc4/154384_473555780344_510505344_5855523_99626_n.jpg
  16. I really wanted that sammich pick.
  17. The video screen is up. http://media.jsonline.com/images/375*250/mjs-scoreboard_-nws_-sears_.jpg
  18. Well yeah, but the point is why don't the Royals just try him as a starter? If he can be a starter he has more value to the Royals either as a player or as a trade piece, if he can't at least he spends a little more time in the minors and you have him under control for cheap through his prime instead of him hitting free agency at like 28 or 29.
  19. endaround nailed it. I think it's pretty obvious Betancourt sucks, both on offense and defense. There are options out there now that won't cost a ton of money that we could get that won't be available when the season starts. So if the option is signing someone now or waiting for a player to inevitably suck before getting rid of him, I'd rather get rid of the sucky player now and sign someone better while they're still available. Also, the Mariners are paying $1 million of his salary and the Royals are giving us $2 million. He makes $4 million this year. Couldn't we just put that $3 million towards this year when we release him and then put the $2 million buyout on our 2012 payroll?
  20. Between the two teams, I would say he made the right choice.
  21. Any SS that can either hit or defend is by definition an upgrade at SS over Betancourt.
  22. Bingo. I said this in the Greinke thread. This is our last year with Fielder, I sure hope they go over budget this year to give us the best chance of winning. Am I saying go spend $150 million? Of course not. But if the budget really is $85-90 million, they should bump it up to $95-100 million. DFA Betancourt and sign Renteria, Punto or Cabrera with preference in that order and I'd be happy.
  23. I agree. It just seems like overpaying for a guy who's average at best in half his games. Sidenote: Colorado sure is spending this offseason. Between this, Tulowitzki and De la Rosa, that's some serious money.
