    I'm not really seeing three massive holes in the lineup. Escobar had a .614 OPS last year and Lucroy was at .629. You could sign Zaun or somebody like that and go with Counsell/Cruz and not be any worse. Cain would be more difficult, but maybe you could do a Dickerson/Gomez platoon or you could call the Red Sox about Mike Cameron.

    The farm system is mediocre at best, so giving up a high pick for a 34 year old pitcher doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

    I could see the Rays liking Gamel. They're going to lose Pena to free agency and their only option right now is Dan Johnson. Gamel could also DH.

    You keep saying this and it's still not true. Cain is projected to hit .279/.345/.379/.724 with a wOBA of .331 Gomez is projected to hit .258/.311/.363/.674 with a wOBA of .301 That's a pretty significant difference.

    I'd imagine most would be flyballs. Triples down the left field line are rare and you're not going to get a ground ball triple in the gap so pretty much the only option is a groundball down the right field line.
