I had a dream that Gamel started at 1st base last night. Then like two minutes later I was flying on a dolphin's back to Germany for some reason and then I realized it was a dream. -

Melvin on WSSP said yesterday that they were leaning towards returning him to starting next year though nothing was set in stone.

To be clear, I'm not arguing we should go and spend $25 million a year on Cliff Lee. I'm saying if we were to go the free agent route it would be better spent trying to get an elite player like Lee than how we have been using free agency.

Once again though, we're paying like $40 million for uselessness this year. I'd imagine if Lee or some other elite free agent were signed, we wouldn't be spending $10 million an offseason on the bullpen or an extra few million on the bench or $5-8 million for a #5 starter.

It's a shame Volstad moved. Morgan would've landed a nice left if he would've stayed still. I also like how Morgan had to jump to reach Volstad's jaw. Heck of a clothesline by Sanchez to take Morgan down as well. -
Seems about right. Brevard County is just a tough place to hit. It's really good for homers if you're a left handed hitter but it sucks for doubles and triples.

The past three years we've been spending $20 million+ on Suppan, Hall and Riske. Where's the value there? Add Hawkins, Davis and Hoffman this year. We've been paying for uselessness for years. If we are going to spend $20-25 million and I'm not sure I want to right now, I'd rather spend it on one elite player than on three crappy players like we have been the past four years.

This is what bothers me most about the split. If Michigan and Nebraska were regular BCS contenders, then it would be fine. But since the BCS came about in 1998 the Big Ten (plus Nebraska) has made a BCS Bowl 23 times. The division Wisconsin was put in has made 15 of those bowls and on the other side Michigan made four of those BCS bowls and they aren't close to what they were. This is a completely unfair division.

Little Rock would be great. They have a fantastic ballpark as does Oklahoma City. If they want to move back to the International League, they should take a two year deal and then try to sync up with an Eastern League team at the same time, though I would be fine with a four year deal with Little Rock and Oklahoma City.
