  1. I think there's more Brewer fans than Met fans at the game.
  2. Good: Sexson trade. Villanueva for Wayne Franklin. Koskie for Brian Wolfe. Shouse for Cruz. Lee for Pods and Vizcaino. Torres trade. Sabathia trade. Signing Cameron, Braun and Gallardo extensions. Bad: De la Rosa for Graffanino. Davis, Eveland and Krynzel for Estrada, Aquino and Vargas. Lee and Cruz for Cordero, Mench and Nix. Mercedes and Gillespie for Lopez. Hardy for Gomez. Suppan, Riske, Hall, Kendall, Gagne, Hoffman, Hawkins and Wolf signings.
  3. Bumping this back up with just a few days left in the season. Gomez: .247/.298/.358/.656, 0.9 WAR Hardy: .276/.327/.406/.733, 2.6 WAR Cain: .287/.331/.388/.719, 0.9 WAR in 150 less at bats. Escobar: .236/.287/.328/.615, 0.3 WAR Just a horrible, horrible trade.
  4. Mark Reynolds has 32 homers but is batting under the Mendoza line while also striking out 42% of the time.
  5. Does Bill seriously think Cain could've gotten to 2nd on that?
  6. In 2007, Weeks posted an .807 OPS. Gomez has never posted an OPS that high anywhere. In 2008 he posted a .740 OPS Gomez has only beaten that twice. In the Appy League with a .760 OPS in 150 at bats and in the PCL with a .777 OPS in 140 at bats.
  7. Over a quarter of the payroll to one player is a huge risk and one the Brewers shouldn't even think about doing.
  8. But him only throwing 81 mph is.
  9. Fangraphs has Wolf at 0.7 WAR, Narveson at 1.4 WAR, Capuano at 0.5 WAR (in 150 less innings) and Gallardo at 4.9 WAR.
  10. So? It's not exactly helping him get groundballs. He gives up two flyballs for every groundball in his career while Bush is basically 1 for 1.
  11. I think he's back and I think he ends up in Nashville.
  12. We never had a chance to clinch any of those games though. How many show up last night if the Brewers can clinch a playoff spot while playing the Nationals? Even with the Packers I'm guessing it's close to a sellout at least.
  13. Write down as much as you remember about the guy's face or any other distinguishing features and go to the police. The sooner you go to the police, the better.
  14. Rays draw 12,446 when they have a chance to clinch a playoff spot. Evan Longoria: David Price: Hard to disagree with either of them. I know it's a Monday and school has started and the Orioles aren't exactly a big draw, but how many fans show up to a Brewers game on a school night against a crappy team if they had a chance to clinch a playoff spot, even with a Packer game that night? I'm guessing at least 35,000 and probably more.
  15. He's averaging 96 on his fastball this year. Why would you be disappointed with that?
  16. At this point, Chris Young is a worse version of Dave Bush. He can barely hit 85 on his fastball and he walks almost as many as he strikes out. He's horrible.
  17. Six teams is just too small to me for a conference. The smallest conference in D-I hockey is Hockey East which has 10 teams. The WCHA has 28 conference games so a two game series with all 11 teams plus a second series with three more teams. How is a 28 game conference schedule going to work in a six team Big Ten Hockey Conference? You would basically need to play 5 games against the other five teams plus three more games, most likely against one game against three more teams. It's not like you would be able to schedule a ton of non conference home games either, because those teams wouldn't have a complete conference schedule then. There needs to be at least 8 teams for a Big Ten Hockey Conference to work imo and I don't see any other teams that would join hockey. Illinois, Northwestern, Indiana, Purdue, Nebraska and Iowa are the options? Does anyone see any of those schools introducing hockey? The most likely imo would be Nebraska. If they want to do something, change conferences so they make more sense. All six Big Ten schools with hockey teams join a conference and add teams like North Dakota, Miami, Denver and Notre Dame or something like that.
  18. That's like the 8th time Brian has called Kottaras Lucroy tonight.
  19. Weeks Hart Braun Fielder McGehee Cain Escobar Kottaras Narveson
  20. Happy day you were born!
  21. And the other was because Braun got hit by a pitch.
  22. New York doesn't need another team. Philadelphia and both New York teams are within two hours of each other. Edit: A couple of interesting areas would be in California. The Inland Empire area with San Bernadino, Riverside, Bakersfield, Fontana and Rancho Cucamonga could be a good spot and with the Dodgers taking up a lot of Los Angeles and Anaheim breaking into the Los Angeles area while still having Long Beach, Santa Ana and Huntington Beach as additional fairly large cities to draw fans another team in Southern California could make sense. Another is Sacramento which is about as big as Milwaukee but has a larger metropolitan area and TV market. The only problem that I can see with those two areas is that the baseball fans in both areas of California already cheer for the Dodgers, Angels, Giants or A's, so them switching teams is unlikely, which is admittedly a pretty big problem in trying to move a team there.
  23. I know when I was that age (which was like 10 years ago) we would all get together and sing and dance like that.
  24. Are you freaking kidding me Macha? Taking out Gamel for Gomez? I hate you.
