  1. Uh yeah, sure Bill. Juan Pierre was one of the best players in the National League during the 50 games Ramirez was suspended.
  2. Sounded like he said ulcerative colitis.
  3. Probably, since Braun and Fielder would likely be intentionally walked to load the bases for whoever is hitting 5th.
  4. Awful deal for the Mets. Maybe the Mets will ship Francoeur to to Kansas City for some more top prospects. Seems like Kansas City has a thing for bad baseball players.
  5. Yay, a guy who isn't even a good option at the bottom of the order is leading off and Craig Counsell realized he's Craig Counsell again, hitting .245/.319/.402 since June 1st. He literally picked the worst possible leadoff and two hitter option for the players that he's playing.
  6. I agree with this. He also seemed to throw more curveballs. But he established his fastball early and attacked the strikezone. He was always nibbling before he got sent down. Maybe that's what they worked on in Nashville and maybe it has something to do with Rivera as well.
  7. Even if these pitchers didn't have value (and they both do, especially Cortes), it still would've been a great trade just to give SS to anybody else and clear most of Betancourt's salary.
  8. Great trade for the Mariners. To acquire two prospects as good as this for one of the worst players in baseball is amazing. I have no idea what Dayton Moore is doing. Between this trade and the continued rumored interest in Jeff Francoeur dating back to last year and the signing of Jose Guillen, it's like he's trying to assemble the worst offense possible.
  9. Yeah, they showed the beer vendor on the ground. Didn't have a video of him actually getting hit though.
  10. Dang, Rivas had his no hitter broken up in the 6th. Manatees lead 5-0.
  11. Gamel will probably pinch hit. Macha wants to get him some experience.
  12. After that bullpen implosion, it takes away from how awful the offense has looked. 85 pitches in 8 innings for Pineiro. It must be the shadows.
  13. That's not the "How Appropriate" Department. It's from the "More Than I Wanted To Know" Department.
  14. I would probably trade Escobar before Gamel.
  15. It's an awful trade-off for Toronto. Even if they add Rios, they're still going to get at least one top notch prospect and they won't be taking Hall. It would have to be something like. Halladay and Rios for Hart, Escobar, Green, Anundsen and Periard or something along those lines. That might not even be enough. Halladay is that good.
  16. I happily delivered a 'sieve' chant to Chris Duncan after his miscue in LF Are you a hockey fan? This could be part of the hockey fan in you. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Skip Schumaker appears to have grown a porn-style mustache. Not sure what that brings to the table. It brings the ability for Schumaker to star in porn films once his baseball career is over. Might as well start growing it now so he gets recognized.
  17. I'm not so sure about that. They both have almost the exact same FIP (5.48 and 5.49) but like you said, Narveson had a .381 BABIP, Smith's is only .162 right now. Even if he is a guy who can keep his BABIP low, it's not going to be that low. His LOB% is also 100% compared to about 60% for Narveson and while Smith is giving up 1.8 HR/9, he has a 12.9 HR/FB% which is right around where it is for most pitchers. I don't really think it's going to matter much though. Smith is likely gone when Bush comes back anyways.
  18. Snider is 21, Katin is 26 and Snider has outperformed Katin at every level up until this year. This deal doesn't even come close for Halladay.
  19. Randolph left the dugout which is an automatic suspension.
  20. I believe nba.com is archiving video after the games are done.
  21. So? Zobrist is more versatile and plays better defense. When the offensive numbers are close, I'll take the better defender who's also more versatile.
  22. I suggested exactly that on another board today.
  23. We were 20-7 last August. Are you sure you aren't talking about August 2007? We were pretty awful in that August.
  24. If it takes a "Teixeira like haul" for the Blue Jays to move him, then count me out.
