    Here's the thing. Lopez is a free agent after the year and is coming off two bad years. I would only trade Mench for him. Here's the thing between Bush and Lopez. Bush is young and still has potential, Lopez is 30 and we would have to pay him over $3 million in arbitration. Why are the Brewers setting their sights on Lopez, Pierre, Roberts etc? Get something the team needs for God sakes.

    Yeah would I rather have arguably the most exciting play in baseball or wins and money for something that is of greater need. I think I'll take the wins and spend the money on something of greater need.

    I'd only consider Lopez for Mench, maybe Clark.

    Why do they need to get rid of both? Hart/Hall/Jenkins Gross/Clark on the bench. And yeah I seriously hope we don't trade for him. Hell let's just let one of our guys from the minors come up and pitch if we want a pitcher with an ERA of 6.

Fielder 1B $382K Weeks 2B $500K Hardy SS $408K Hall 3B $3M Hart LF $382K Crisp CF $3.75M Jenkins RF $7M Miller C $2.25M Clark $3.8M Gross $388K Koskie $2M Cirillo $1M Rivera $380K Sheets $10M Garcia $10M Capuano $3M Bush $425K Villanueva $380K Cordero $5.5M Turnbow $2.3M Wise $1M Shouse $1.1M Capellan $383K Sarfate $380 Total: $59.708M That's only 24 players so we could either sign a reliever or let our prospects fight for the job.

    I'd take a flyer on him, his value is low and as brett said he had a couple of very good years in Cleveland. He signed through '09 with a team option for 2010. He would make $14 million through 2009 and $8 million in 2010 if his option is picked up.

    The way I read it we would be trading Hall for Lidge, Ensberg and possibly Everett.

    No they get their money back if they don't sign him. They bid because Seibu would get compensation for losing a player. If an agreement can't be reached Matsuzaka would go back to Seibu and the money would go back to the Red Sox since Seibu didn't actually lose Matsuzaka.

    I believe we drafted him out of high school and he decided to go to Georgia Tech and then he got taken by Boston in the 1st round.

    Interesting. I believe he already opted out. I think we would only go after one and if we got Drew I think he would play a corner. I think I'd prefer Garciaparra to Drew but that's just my opinion.

    You really think they're going to $120 million JohnBriggs? I think they may go over $100 million but I doubt it goes much higher. Lee $13M Zambrano $9M (arbitration; new deal???) Dempster $5M Jones $4M Izturis $4.15M Howry $4M Eyre $3.5M Rusch $3.25M That's 45.9M right there then they'll need to re-sign Ramirez and that will cost about $16M and they still will need a couple more starting pitchers a couple bullpen guys and a couple bench guys. They should just tear that thing down and start from scratch.

    Young's AAA stats. Pretty damn good, would cost MUCH more than Davis.
