  1. If you're not going to hit him can you at least make him work a little bit so you can get to the bullpen?
  2. Contreras has a career walk rate of nearly 10%. He's not up there "to hack" as Brian says. Is it really too much to ask that announcers do the bare minimum of research when it comes to stats?
  3. Yardley fielded a chopper over his head. Yardley threw to 1st, runner on 2nd assumed the runner on 3rd was going home and started running to 3rd. Runner on 3rd stayed put and runner on 2nd was caught between 2nd and 3rd. Vogelbach ran the runner on 2nd to 3rd where he was tagged out.
  4. That exit velocity was 106 mph, Bill. So yes, it was hit hard. It's the best kind of hit hard it could be because of the launch angle but it's still bad pitching.
  5. Really nice of Yelich to have back soreness for the fans who miss Ryan Braun. Now it's like Braun never left.
  6. He got the ball every 5th day last year and was so bad the team was forced to put him in a role where he would randomly get tossed into games because they couldn't trust him to do anything other than pitch in blowouts.
  7. I shouldn't say that bounce and ricochet is impossible because it just happened but that bounce and ricochet is impossible.
  8. Bill made it sound like Houser made a great pitch because the pitcher is on deck and you don't want to give him "a cookie down the middle" when the pitch that Bill was praising was a cookie down the middle.
  9. "The hardest hit ball was Edman's line drive to center." No, Brian, that was the third hardest hit ball in the inning out of four.
  10. I like how the Cardinals fans were cheering when they thought Peterson struck out. Hey, that's great but did you see the ball skip like 50 feet away? Even if he struck out he easily reaches 1st and a run scores.
  11. The original poster wasn't talking about the offense as a whole, he was talking about three specific players. Right, I was disputing the "well established track records" of those 3 by using their last 5 years of offensive production. None of them have well established track records of offensive production which was my entire point. They've all had a couple of good years, they've all had a couple of below average years. You don't know what you're actually getting offensively but we can't really be surprised if those 3 don't have good years offensively when they have had years in the very recent past (including years that you can't excuse for weird COVID reasons) where their offensive numbers were, let's just say less than ideal.
  12. Garcia OPS+ in the 5 years prior to 2020 89 89 138 95 113 Wong OPS+ in the 5 years prior to 2020 93 84 109 97 108 JBJ OPS+ in the 5 years prior to 2020 119 118 89 92 90 Even Yelich is more like the hitter he was in Miami now that the ball instead of his first two years here and nobody in their wildest dreams expected Yelich to do what he did in his first two years here. Let's not act like we have a bunch of guys with great or even good track records of offensive production.
  13. UMD got completely dominated in OT. I don't think they spent more than a minute in the offensive zone.
  14. Burnes - 6.1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 11 K Peralta - 5 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 8 K Woodruff - 7 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K Burnes - 6 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 K That's 4 out of 7 games this year where our starters have given up 1 hit and we're only 2-2 in those games.
  15. Robertson had nothing to do with the previous 3 batters in the 7th reaching base and the 2-run homer in the 8th.
  16. He can't hit, so he'll fit right in.
