  1. It's a Festivus miracle!
  2. On the Brewers end, I think Melvin has to be thinking that he will end up signing either Linebrink or Cordero, otherwise he could've put together a better package than that for Lidge.
  3. Then who is the judge of this? Everyone should be judging this themselves when they decide to start a thread. That's the point. If someone has a trade idea, they should research a little just to see how plausible it'd be and think about whether or not the other team would seriously be interested in our players, instead of picking the players we don't want on our team anymore and trading them for players we want. This site has been a great resource for people to learn about baseball and I think we should keep it that way and not give them more ammunition on being elitists. You don't need to start trade proposal threads to learn from the forums. I've probably started 2-3 threads in my entire time at BF.net. If someone has a question about what it would take to get Player X, they can start a thread with that open-ended question and will likely get a quick answer. The moderation of this site is a huge reason this is such a great resource for learning about baseball.
  4. I'd definitely watch the Brewer WS game over the Packer game and I've been a diehard Packer fan since I was young. Just think of the statewide hysteria of a Wisconsin World Series game and the difference between that and the Packers, granted a 6-1 team, playing a week 8 monday night game, and I think the Brewer game would win out.
  5. Definitely Utley. Then Phillips, then Weeks right now.
  6. I really don't see any move for Braun until '09 at the earliest. Melvin & Co. will give him another shot at 3B this year IMO. Hunter is too expensive for the (minimal) size of upgrade he'd be over Gross or Hall. And his defense has taken a slight hit.
  7. JJ Hardy stayed healthy and put up this line: .277 .323 .463 .786 (good numbers for SS position) Granted, he cooled off in the middle of the season, but he had some big hits late in the season. Staying healthy was the biggest thing and he somehow was more valuable offensively than Bill Hall, who many would've had starting at SS instead of JJ (granted also: had he NOT changed positions his offensive numbers might be more impressive).
  8. It'll be fun to watch Doug Davis go in game 2 against the Cubs. I'll take all three home teams today.
  9. Boston over LA (5) Cleveland over New York (5) Arizona over Chicago (4) Philadelphia over Colorado (4) Cleveland over Boston (6) Philadelphia over Arizona (6) Cleveland over Philadelphia (5) CC Sabathia WS MVP
  10. Bank Error in Your Favor! Collect $400!
  11. From Jsonline... With a $3.2 million salary next year at the end of a three-year deal, Turnbow isn't going anywhere unless he is traded. He admitted the idea has crossed his mind to ask to be moved to another club but hasn't decided if he'll do so. "I haven't gone to them and talked about it," he said. "I can't say I won't. (The booing) wears you down." If he's being this honest and open with the media, you know he will at least bring up the topic with management. Why even say this if you're planning to come back? I've read that article, and we still can't say he's asked to be traded.
  12. Turnbow has asked to be traded When did he do this?
  13. C - Estrada IF - Weeks, Braun, Fielder, Hardy, Counsell, Dillon OF - Hart, Hall, Gross, Gwynn SP - Sheets, Gallardo, Suppan, Villanueva, Capuano RP - Parra, McClung, Bush, Shouse, Cordero, Turnbow Hard to know at this point, but I think the Brewers resign one of Cordero or Linebrink and take the picks for the other. Vargas traded for a 7th-8th inning guy and some prospect help. Mench signs back with the Rangers, Jenkins with the Tigers (I've always thought they'd be his next team). Miller retires. Brewers sign the best defensive backup catcher they can find and acquire a RH OF bat to platoon with Gross. LaPorta is a midseason callup (EDIT: meh, just kind of a wild card sleeper pick.) Graffanino comes back at some point in '08 to the Brewers. ( Sheets traded for Bobby Abreu at trade deadline ? )

  17. Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball. My favorite sig at Brewerfan.net. I'm liking this one-game-at-a-time attitude. No time like the present Brewers!

  19. For the first time all season, I want to cry. Very uphill from here on in... sob.
  20. you missed the point. I'm saying that how does the momentum from the PREVIOUS inning carry over to one pitcher more than another. You use the guy you decide to use, I'm not agreeing with Yost using Spurling, just saying that momentum plays no factor. I would've used Cordero because he's the better pitcher. But the bottom of the 9th close call, did get the Astros mentally back in the game. This is what I have a problem with. How do you know this?
  21. Either stopping momentum or keeping momentum on your side is key. Also key is putting yourself in the oppenents heads. I don't really see those as keys to winning at all. I'm not going to debate Ned's moves because it'll make me scream... But momentum at the very least is debatable as to whether it exists or not. Hard to say a different move should've been made because it would've kept the momentum going better than another. If momentum does exist, you'd think it would extend to Spurling as well as Cordero.
  22. I fell asleep before the atrocities of the last two innings, which saved me from tossing and turning all night. I still feel good about our chances. I love how this team has bounced back after that horrible swoon.

  24. Exactly, that is why I think it is ridiculous when people continuessly rip ESPN for every little mistake they make. Well, you'd think that a cable station dedicated to solely sports would be somewhat scientific about their research. It appears at times that they put more time into devising personalities and "witty" banter than into furthering the understanding of sports. I understand that TV isn't exactly the best place to go for strict analysis of anything, but ESPN IMHO has noticably declined in the last five years.
  25. IIRC, moving Hall to the outfield came from Melvin, but I'm sure Yost was in on it as well. Interesting to think about though. If Hall wasn't moved, what would've happened on the IF? Would Braun have been called up when he was or at all? Would Hall have gone back to super-sub? How would we have survived without Elmer Dessens (j/k)??
